With the high penetration of distributed generation (DG) currently, it tends to be more complicated. This paper presents a new approach to evaluate impacts of the DG on power quality of the distribution network. In the process an objective function will be modeled, which will be solved by the optimization toolbox, in order to calculate the result for the evaluating grade. Furthermore, the results of the overall evaluation will be given via the eigenvalue weighted method. Harmonic environment of an electric network means the characteristic of distribution of the harmonic energy, voltage and current, in the network. Harmonic environment of Microgrid is complicated due to nonlinear equipments, e.g. thyristor based power converter. The nonlinear equipments are both harmonic source and harmonic vulnerable, so that the assessment of Microgrid harmonic environment is very necessary for programming construction and operation of Microgrid. The modal analysis is able to figure out the paths harmonic spread and element effecting spread, but the method can not deal with nonlinear equipments properly, even those equipments are playing main role in harmonic problem in Microgrid. In this paper a maturity nonlinear equipment model is introduced in modal analysis for fully Microgrid harmonic assessment. According to the assessment results, proper measures can be taken place to improve the construction and operation of Microgrid. Ethernet Passive Optical Network (EPON) is regarded as a promising fiber-based communication technique for advanced distribution automation because it is not only high-speed, cost-effective but also scalable. However, EPON has very specific security requirements, due to its broadcasting character of transmission medium in the downstream direction. Group key management plays an essential role for the guarantee of data confidentiality and integrity. This paper proposes to encrypt the broadcasting information transmitted in the EPON using the encryption key. However, because of the impact of background noise, there are some errors between the estimated channel impulses responses (CIRs) and the real ones in terms of amplitude and time-delay, leading to the system performance decreases. This paper proposed a gate method which processes the result of the B.Steiner estimation algorithm and thus decreases noises. The simulation results show that the improved CIRs are closer to the ideal ones and the system performance is effectively increased. To solve the problem put forward, the neutral of a medium voltage network is grounded with petersen coils or low resistance. This article compares the two grounding modes technically. Varieties of operation characters and parameters are researched in the two different grounding systems. Besides, interference to communication is taken into account. Reliability of power supply, security and economy of power grids are discussed. However, the optimization methods for PI controllers' parameters of HVDC system are very few up to now. And when the optimization task comes to RTDS, it becomes more complex. This paper introduces the Simplex Algorithm and its application in real time simulation (RTDS). The system objective functions are adopted to optimize the PI parameters of constant current (CC) control at the rectifier and the extinction-angle control at the inverter for Three Gorges-Shanghai ±500 kV DC Transmission Project on the basis of the control strategy. After the optimization process was finished, the performance of the PI controller with the optimized parameters was compared with that of the PI controller with the initial parameters. The step responses of those two PI controllers were presented by figures. We equivalent the trapped charge to the current sources which are located at near-end and far-end when the disconnector switching is operated. Based on the Numerical Inverse Laplace Transform method, the response of the transmission line is solved. And the simulation results are compared with the simulations in EMTP to confirm that the formulation is correct. Based on the equation presented in this paper, several simulations have been studied. The detection algorithm calculates the harmonic current and fundamental-frequency current of the load current which serve as the command current. For the purpose of eliminating the steady periodic error of system and improving the tracking accuracy of the compensation current, PI and repetitive controller in parallel is introduced as a advanced current control method. A detailed analysis and design for the high-frequency module is presented based on frequency characteristic and steady state. A 10kV system simulation model based on PSCAD/EMTDC is built to analyze the control strategy. The determination of Available Transfer Capability (ATC) for the AC/DC transmission systems is significant to the system planning and operation. So far, most studies have been focused on ATC determination for AC transmission systems, few are on the AC/DC system ATC determination. In this paper, the ATC determination model for the AC/DC systems is proposed. Multi-terminal DC (MTDC) system is considered in ATC computation model. Conventionally, the power injection variations are determined by load variations and generation dispatch, both of them are nonlinear. To model these nonlinear variations, an alternate iterative continuation power flow (CPF) method with multiple load variations and generation economic dispatch patterns is presented to solve the proposed model. The MTDC system configurations, the converter control strategies and the transformer's tap adjustment strategies are incorporated to this modified CPF algorithm. The stability of system network operation with a large penetration of wind energy has become one of the most critical issues in the new structure of power systems with different types of generation. In this paper the HVDC and HVAC connection of the wind farm to grid is compared. The HVDC is more advantageous in maintaining the system stability. Nevertheless this study focuses on the HVAC connection of wind farms with regard to its lower costs and widely practical application. Based on the topology of the offshore wind farm Alpha Ventus, a simulation model is developed in software PSS/NETOMAC. Using this model the steady-state voltage and power factor at the wind farm connection point is analyzed and compared with the grid code requirement on reactive power exchange and voltage stability. The impact of the cable switching on voltage is investigated as well.
