Senokosova","doi":"10.33422/icshe.2018.12.70","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.33422/icshe.2018.12.70","url":null,"abstract":"The paper provides an overview of existing cinematographic works made in Bali in the 19251930s with the participation of the Russian-German artist and screenwriter Walter Spies in the context of their ethnographic significance. The author of the paper analyzes the relationship between the film industry in Bali in this period and significant role of Walter Spies contribution to the promotion of Bali as an original world cultural and artistic center. The relevance of this research consists in growing interest of modern science towards comprehension of regularities in artists’ addressing the experience of Eastern cultures. Spies managed to generalize and take to the screen main aspects of Balinese culture without the forfeit of its indigenous features, for example «Bali: Sanghyang and Kecak dances» film (1926), «The Island of Demons» film (19301931) and other. In his film works he managed to combine imagery, ethnographic authenticity and beauty of the frame, achieving harmonious unity of artistry, veracity and sacrality. Literacy is an ability of someone to do the skill of language: listening, speaking, reading, and writing to communicate in the different ways according to its purpose. Language is a tool of communication that need to be mastered of all the people of the entire world. The ability to communicate one to another can create the better condition in life for young children as well as adult. To make the young children to interact well among them, the elementary school students need much more vocabularies. The students can find the vocabularies from various ways but literacy activity is the best way. The purpose of the literacy activity is the elementary school teachers be a good model and motivator in interacting to students with peaceful condition in and out of class. To reach this purpose, the teachers need to know, to master, to love, to have any kinds of strategies how to implement the activity of literacy skill to the students as basic of communication and interact to others. The ability of literacy skill of the students influences the ability of mastering the text both spoken and written and even in predicting the visual one. That is why the improvement of literacy should be done as whole: listening, speaking, reading, and writing through the various kind of story books for children with appropriete strategy. The key to reach this goal is the teachers, so they have to be trained how to implement the literacy skill to students. After trained the teachers have to show that they can implement the literacy skill to the students. The students start the literacy activity with reading the story books, retell the story to others while they are listening, and the last one is rewriting the story by using their own words. The Nigerian economy in recent times has recorded substantial growth, even during the global financial crisis, ranking Nigeria as one of the fastest growing economies globally. In spite of this strong growth performance, poverty remains widespread. The study used 3002, 3002 and 3002 Demographic and Health Survey data of Nigeria. Questionnaires were also administered to authentic the welfare indicators used in the study. First order dominance approach was used to measure poverty and inequality across three population groups in Nigeria (household heads, women age 30 – 94 years, and children age 0 – 5 years) with different non-monetary indicators such as access to education, health, attitude and occurrence of domestic violence etc. The FOD results were compared across religious groups, ethnic groups, zones, states, urban/rural and National. These figures showed more robust comparison as compared with other multidimensional approaches like (global MPI, FGT). This work makes a distinct contribution to the literature of multidimensional poverty and inequality in Nigeria as few studies exist on this subject matter. Reading is realized for many reasons such as getting information, learning a new skill or reading just for pleasure; however, the main aim is to get an understanding of what the reading text is trying to convey since reading is of great significance. As reading comprehension is a learned skill that is dependent upon some external factors, to get into the heart of the problem, first of all some factors should be examined. Among these factors, the most observable one is knowledge of vocabulary. Vocabulary is what the learners most complain about reading texts because it is closely related to reading comprehension. At this juncture, it can be said that despite the indispensable role of vocabulary knowledge in reading comprehension, it is essential to look into the depth of it in detail to understand how strong predicator the breadth of vocabulary knowledge in reading comprehension is. The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between the breadth of vocabulary knowledge and reading comprehension and to figure out to what extent the vocabulary knowledge effects the comprehension during the reading process. The research questions driving this study were: Does vocabulary knowledge lead to a gain in scores on the RCT (Reading Comprehension Test)? What are the EFL students’ perspectives on vocabulary breadth of knowledge, and how do these affect their reading comprehension?
