ETRI has developed TMN EMS (element management system) with the development of an ATM switch. In the next year, these systems will be in operation in the Korean ATM network. We introduce our EMS and analyse the throughput of EMS. In order to analyse the throughput, we use an open queuing network model and actual measurement data. The results of the analysis are useful when the TMN management network is set up.","PeriodicalId":205350,"journal":{"name":"ITS'98 Proceedings. The main idea is to model the communication system from the modulator input to the demodulator output as a binary finite state channel (FSC) model, and apply powerful enumeration techniques to such a discrete channel in order to gain useful information on system performance. The concatenated scheme makes use of two codes: Reed Solomon (RS) codes are employed for the outer code, and binary block codes are used as the inner code. This is an interesting alternative approach with respect to computer simulations.","PeriodicalId":205350,"journal":{"name":"ITS'98 Proceedings. The static channel characteristic of WLL allows base station adaptive antenna arrays and subscriber directional antennas to be used effectively. In such an environment, dynamic sectorization is introduced and a simple dynamic spreading code assignment scheme is proposed to assign codes for users in different areas. Simulations results are presented which demonstrate that using orthogonal CDMA/SDMA with the proposed dynamic code assignment scheme shows drastic improvement over using SDMA or orthogonal CDMA alone.","PeriodicalId":205350,"journal":{"name":"ITS'98 Proceedings. Based on such a model the joint distribution of the envelope and its time derivative is accomplished and exact formulas for the level crossing rate (closed-form formula) and for the average fade duration are derived. Simulation curves and exact formulas are checked against each other and a perfect agreement between them is attained. Although derived for discrete values of m (m being an integer multiple of 1/2 ) there are no mathematical constraints for these expressions to be used for any real value m/spl ges/ 1/2.","PeriodicalId":205350,"journal":{"name":"ITS'98 Proceedings. Thus, ring network topologies are being widely used by Telebras system operating companies. This paper proposes a model for planning SDH unidirectional rings which allocates and dimensions the equipment to be used, makes the routing in order to meet traffic demands and minimizes the network costs. Mixed integer linear programming is used in which the traffic between network nodes is represented by a multicommodity flow associated to an origin-destination matrix, and the network is represented by a graph. The model for interconnecting unidirectional rings is made with the additional constraint that real variables are used. This is unprecedented in the literature. The paper also presents the results obtained when the model was applied to two urban networks.","PeriodicalId":205350,"journal":{"name":"ITS'98 Proceedings.
