With this tool, we created a knowledgebase for psychology, KOBPSY. We have identified structural document elements such as authors, sections, and domain knowledge about diseases, population, treatments and more. Our corpus of documents comes from PsychOpen. The datasets we are building for each article include i) the RDF description of article metadata, e.g. information on title, keywords, authors and editors; ii) structural information such as sections, section types, paragraphs, in-text citations; and also, iii) RDF for content and annotations. We are structuring the annotations by using the Annotation Ontology. Our approach makes it possible to build concept-based queries; we are delivering a flexible, reusable and adaptable set of tools for metadata enrichment and semantic processing of scientific documents in psychology.","PeriodicalId":20526,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 15th International Conference on Knowledge Technologies and Data-driven Business","volume":"26 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-10-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"89568834","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Due to the their inherent complex structure, a simple row-by-row based conversion approach is not sufficient. Therefore, the complex structured tables must be validated, modified and transformed, until they are suitable for the standardized multi-dimensional data structure - the data cube. This paper will especially focus on the transformations necessary to normalize the structure of the tables. A second focus is on the advantages, which come by using the RDF Data Cube Vocabulary. Also, a research prototype was implemented to execute the workflow and convert the statistical data into data cubes.","PeriodicalId":20526,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 15th International Conference on Knowledge Technologies and Data-driven Business","volume":"40 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-10-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"86732268","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The font size and color of a word show its importance, and the position of a word in the cloud can be arbitrary or reflect its relation to other words. In this paper, we present a tool that generates concept clouds from German company websites. The main idea of the visualization is to show the overall work and main interests of companies in a detailed information cloud based solely on their own web page. The concepts are taken from the STW Thesaurus of Economics. The colors of the concepts show the categories of the concepts in the thesaurus while the cloud layout is organized by semantic proximity of the concepts. To compute the similarity between concepts we use the semantic representation that is generated from DeWaC corpus. The distributional similarity is fundamentally different from the co-occurrence statistics which often used to generate word clouds.","PeriodicalId":20526,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 15th International Conference on Knowledge Technologies and Data-driven Business","volume":"56 19 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-10-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"79001805","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Most of research works focus on a limited set of users, characterized by the same kind of main activities, e.g., researchers, or exploit external knowledge, such as predefined ontologies. An heterogeneous environment, with possible lack of information, and not well structured data, puts forward new challenges, to address the problem of adapting user profiling and consequently expert search. In this paper, we present a first attempt to create an expert search system to support users (such as researchers, students, authors) in finding experts to get in contact or to start a cooperation with in the field of textbook research. Hereby we semantically enrich user profiles building a Community Knowledge Graph (CKG) which defines relationships among users and related items. Furthermore, we present first experimental results that base on real users.","PeriodicalId":20526,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 15th International Conference on Knowledge Technologies and Data-driven Business","volume":"67 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-10-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"89653919","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Respective activities can be categorized into multiple perspectives on informal learning, such as reflection, sensemaking, help seeking and maturing of collective knowledge. Each perspective raises requirements with respect to the technical support, this is why an integrated solution relying on social, adaptive and semantic technologies is needed. In this paper, we present the Social Semantic Server, an extensible, open-source application server that equips client-side tools with services to support and scale informal learning at the workplace. More specifically, the Social Semantic Server semantically enriches social data that is created at the workplace in the context of user-to-user or user-artifact interactions. This enriched data can then in turn be exploited in informal learning scenarios to, e.g., foster help seeking by recommending collaborators, resources, or experts. Following the design-based research paradigm, the Social Semantic Server has been implemented based on design principles, which were derived from theories such as Distributed Cognition and Meaning Making. We illustrate the applicability and efficacy of the Social Semantic Server in the light of three real-world applications that have been developed using its social semantic services. Furthermore, we report preliminary results of two user studies that have been carried out recently.","PeriodicalId":20526,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 15th International Conference on Knowledge Technologies and Data-driven Business","volume":"15 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-10-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"80559558","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Trends may signal that technologies or related topics might be of great interest in the future or obsolete for future directions. The identification of such trends premises analytical skills that can be supported through trend mining and visual analytics. Thus the earliest trends or signals commonly appear in science, the investigation of digital libraries in this context is inevitable. However, digital libraries do not provide sufficient information for analyzing trends. It is necessary to integrate data, extract information from the integrated data and provide effective interactive visual analysis tools. We introduce in this paper a model that investigates all stages from data integration to interactive visualization for identifying trends and analyzing the market situation through our visual trend analysis environment. Our approach improves the visual analysis of trends by investigating the entire transformation steps from raw and structured data to visual representations.","PeriodicalId":20526,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 15th International Conference on Knowledge Technologies and Data-driven Business","volume":"2 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-10-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"83017815","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

There, smart assistance systems focus on process qualities and outcomes, not on the workers' abilities to cope with novel or uncertain work situations. In this paper we present a conceptual approach on how to integrate cognitive automation and self-directed learning at the assembly workplace. We argue for embedding smart learning behavior, based on the model of cognitive apprenticeship and provided by a cognitive architecture, with existing cognitive automation approaches. The conceptual approach is illustrated with the Plant@Hand smart assembly assistant prototype for the industrial assembly workplace.","PeriodicalId":20526,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 15th International Conference on Knowledge Technologies and Data-driven Business","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-10-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"88177746","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
