Particular attention was focused on the development of a new algorithm for controlling the final phase of braking (using a retarder) at low speeds, using proprietary regulators based on the prediction of braking force values. The developed algorithm is universal (works with various drive units) automatically adjusting the setting values. At the same time, the authors paid particular attention to the elimination of the phenomenon of oscillation of the engine torque value in the final phase of braking and the synergy of the classic braking system of a commercial vehicle with electric drive braking. The article also discusses proprietary tools and software for monitoring and collecting measurement data from electric vehicles. The control algorithm is one of the products offered on the market as a solution provided by the DIGA Civil Partnership. The presented results were collected from real objects as part of implementations carried out by the authors.","PeriodicalId":204178,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Civil Engineering and Transport","volume":"13 4","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140266630","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is therefore necessary to convert the AC voltage of the power system into the DC voltage of the traction system. The conversion of alternating voltage into direct voltage takes place in traction substations. Rectifier units installed at traction substations are used for this purpose. As a result, electric traction should be classified as non-linear consumers. In addition, the traction substation load changes dynamically. All this makes the electric traction a recipient generating a number of disturbances to the network. These disturbances affect the quality of electricity in the power system from which the traction substations are supplied, and the quality of energy in auxiliary and non-traction lines. The article presents the results of the analysis of measurements of electricity quality indicators recorded at selected points of the traction substation line. Parameters characterizing the quality of electricity were recorded, among others, in in the main line supplying the traction substation, non-traction needs line and auxiliary circuits. The presented article is another in a series of publications related to the assessment of the impact of DC electric traction on the power system.","PeriodicalId":204178,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Civil Engineering and Transport","volume":"37 13","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"138946017","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Nowadays there is an interest in converting existing off-road vehicles into remotely controlled platforms with autonomous mode due to several benefits, including reducing the risk to human life, increasing efficiency and accuracy, and allowing the vehicles to operate in hazardous zones. Environmental perception technology plays a critical role in enabling the safe and effective operation during unmanned missions. This technology involves sensors, cameras, and other devices to gather information about the environment and provide the unmanned ground platform (UGV) with a perception of its surroundings. In recent years, there has been significant progress in the development of environmental perception systems, including the use of advanced sensors, machine learning algorithms, and other innovations have become a focus of research and development for many countries. This paper describes a combination of commercially available vision sensors, laser scanners and navigation modules for comprehensive understanding of operational environment, orientation, objects recognition during autonomous mode. Typical methods for vision and lidar-based obstacle detection and object classification for unmanned vehicles are described. The aim of the work was to examine in real environment the performance of a perception system that was configured using a daylight-thermal observation and stereo cameras, lidar sensor, GNSS module, radio links along with computing units. This system was evaluated in terms of performance of different sensors considering implementation for all terrain vehicle as subsystem for unmanned mode.","PeriodicalId":204178,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Civil Engineering and Transport","volume":"10 4","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"138944065","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Therefore, more requirements and legal documents require risk analyses to be carried out at various stages of investment implementation. One of the leading legal documents that introduce the obligation to monitor risk is Directive (EU) 2016/798 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 11 May 2016 on railway safety and Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) No 402/2013 of 30 April 2013 on the common safety method for risk evaluation and assessment and re-pealing Regulation (EC) No 352/2009. Additionally, for traffic control systems, the requirements of CENELEC standards are mandatory. These documents present the subject of safety level and show its relation with the safety targets defined in the railway system, including the different ways of measuring them. Methods are also available to analyse the safety level of railway system components in detail, both at the level of individual components, subsystems, and the whole national railway system. However, after conducting an in-depth analysis of the literature, the authors of the article indicate that these methods are not consistent with each other. There is no method defined to present the direct relation of the safety level of the components of the system on the achievement of safety targets for the national railway system. The research and analysis aimed to define an approach, a method that would meet all legal requirements but at the same time would allow to clearly and reliably determine the safety level of the railway system. To define a unified approach, the authors of the article propose to develop a model of a dynamic object - a railway system safety model, which has also been verified on accurate safety data in rail transport in recent years. This model organises the process of safety management on railways and allows to determine values influencing the achievement of safety targets on an assumed level.","PeriodicalId":204178,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Civil Engineering and Transport","volume":"24 14","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"138947014","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As a consequence of detected events, unintentional initiation of a train braking procedure occurs despite the absence of objective reasons for such behaviour. In essence, the paper presents the ERTMS as a real-time system based on the two subsystems ETCS and GSM-R. Each of these subsystems includes a vehicle part and an infrastructure part. The article starts by identifying general considerations that may affect the lack of compatibility between vehicle and trackside infrastructure as a result of changes in versions of the specification (baseline). The following part of the article reviews the process leading to train braking is reviewed. The next part of the article refers to ETCS scenarios and parameters affecting the system response during operation. It referred to the considerations of message transmission between the ETCS ground infrastructure and the vehicle via the telecommunications network, including the GSM-R. The final section focuses on the causes and consequence of the overlap of the RBC's and GSM-R radio cells boundaries. The article concludes with a brief summary and conclusions.","PeriodicalId":204178,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Civil Engineering and Transport","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131039516","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The aim of the work is to present the essence of the system, its determinants interdependent on the dynamics of crisis events, which should be taken over by means of planned actions. The crisis management system is imperfect, its activity is ineffective due to faulty organizational solutions, incomplete staffing of jobs, incomplete legal regulations and insufficient financial, information, human and material resources. \u0000The work uses both quantitative and qualitative methods, such as: system analysis, cause-and-effect analysis, statistical method and synthesis. The results of the pilot studies were presented and old and new problems were presented. Moreover, practical solutions were proposed to improve the crisis management system. Nevertheless, not all problems are presented in this paper. The spectrum of the issue, its complexity and the changes announced by the Polish government indicate a further need to raise this issue on a scientific basis.","PeriodicalId":204178,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Civil Engineering and Transport","volume":"146 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122066716","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These systems are built using standardized solutions and devices, but the system itself and the individual organizational solutions used therein are individually tailored to the needs of the employer - the manager of the road network on which the system is implemented. The first stage of the project may include verbal descriptions of the requirements, proposals for solutions, relations between system elements, contents of databases, etc. However, the next stages of the work should involve the use of tools to formalize the record so that it is understandable to the entire project team, the contractors of the system elements, and then form the basis for the development of design and detailed documentation. The tools that can be used in the design process of an ITS solution are, described in the paper use cases that define the interaction of system users (\"actors\") with the system, and the UML language used in the design of information systems. The paper describes the legal basis for ITS solutions, ways of defining use cases, the UML, including use case diagrams, behavioural diagrams and structural diagrams. Examples of the application of the UML to describe the design of an ITS system are also presented.","PeriodicalId":204178,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Civil Engineering and Transport","volume":"39 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131742668","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The article presents the characteristics of the change in the length of motorways along with the percentage rate of increase in the length of motorways in selected European countries. Statistical data on the number of registered motor vehicles in Poland against the background of selected European countries in the analyzed period are presented. The main purpose of the article is to use the coefficient of determination R2 to determine the impact of the number of registered motor vehicles and the length of motorways on the number of fatalities in road accidents in selected European countries. The authors chose the coefficient of determination R2 as an indicator of how reducing the overall number of road accidents and increasing the length of motorways will affect the number of fatalities. The coefficient of determination is used to determine what percentage of one variable affects the variability of the other variable. The determined high value of the determination index R2 (close to 1) indicates a large impact of the analyzed variable on the number of fatalities in road accidents. The high result of the determination coefficient R2 for Poland in terms of the analyzed variables confirms that a further reduction in the number of fatalities in road accidents is possible thanks to the expansion of motorways and the reduction of the number of motor vehicles.","PeriodicalId":204178,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Civil Engineering and Transport","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129824109","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
