The advancement in home automation is quite significant in the past few years, the idea here is to develop a system that would provide ease and comfort to the physically challenged in everyday life. The suggested system operates remotely through Voice Control, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, which would make people self-dependent and enable them to access the appliances with ease. The emergence of affordable and cheap microcontrollers has enabled the implementation of low-cost smart homes. This special-purpose system would result in improved standards of living for every individual. In this paper, an effort to present an affordable, multi-facility, home system has been done which is capable of integrating appliances.","PeriodicalId":203504,"journal":{"name":"2019 2nd International Conference on Power Energy, Environment and Intelligent Control (PEEIC)","volume":"223 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133049409","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

With the emergence of smart grid, forecasting of load and its management has been a primal concern for a researcher. Load forecasting has been challenging not only for developing countries but also for developed and industrialized nations. The main problems for developing nations are missing necessary data, appropriate load forecasting models and required institutions, these limitations are somewhat less serious for developed nations. Due to limitations in the model structure and missing data forecasted energy demands are often found to deviate from the actual demands. This paper contains a systematic review on the methods of load forecasting which is done on the basis of 126 research papers and the best methods for load forecasting on the basis of time, inputs, outputs and error type have been determined. The methods compared are time series analysis and machine learning algorithms. This meta-analysis has been defined to help researchers to take an effective decision by choosing the right model from their problem.","PeriodicalId":203504,"journal":{"name":"2019 2nd International Conference on Power Energy, Environment and Intelligent Control (PEEIC)","volume":"65 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133820854","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The installed capacity has already reached 28GW as on March 2019. The inverter is one of the main components of solar PV conversion system. Due to varying irradiation profile in India, the inverters used in Solar PV applications are subjected to varying levels of DC input power. At present two weighted average methods namely EURO and California Energy Commission (CEC) efficiency formulae have been used by inverter manufacturers worldwide to evaluate the performance of inverters. These methods are representative of inverter efficiencies at Europe and California, thus cannot be suitable benchmarks to find out the conversion efficiency of the inverters in other locations. The present research and this paper proposes about introducing new weighting factors for calculation of inverter efficiency as per irradiation profile in India. As a step 1, for computing the weighting factors the data from Solar Radiation Resource Assessment (SRRA) stations implemented by National Institute Of Wind Energy (NIWE) is used and are categorized into five climatic zones. In step 2 validation of three inverters were done by calculating the weighted average efficiency of these inverters operating in all the climatic zones by considering the new weighting factors. Further in step 3, it was cross-compared with the standard values of EURO and CEC efficiency. In step 4, the modelled overall weighted average efficiency is subsequently compared with the actual measured weighted average efficiency. The measured DC Energy and AC Energy of the plant was used for this purpose. The proposed approach has been generalized to consider the irradiation profile of a particular location for calculating the inverter efficiency and hence it can provide significant insights related to the performance of inverters for the solar projects.","PeriodicalId":203504,"journal":{"name":"2019 2nd International Conference on Power Energy, Environment and Intelligent Control (PEEIC)","volume":"110 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115699621","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

They are still existing in some applications majorly due to their simple design and control and their low cost as compared to same rated AC motors. One key limitation of DC motors is the high starting current in the armature due to low armature resistance and lack of back emf. The conventional technique is to use 3 pin and 4 pin starters which are simple rheostats whose value is manually decreased thereby increasing the current in a smooth manner rather than applying abruptly high current in single throw of a switch. This method suffers from some limitations such as power loss, bulkiness and many more. The proposed solution is to use a capacitor in parallel to the voltage supply which will absorb the initial high current transients and also provide a backup voltage supply in case of failure of the primary supply applied","PeriodicalId":203504,"journal":{"name":"2019 2nd International Conference on Power Energy, Environment and Intelligent Control (PEEIC)","volume":"146 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115103746","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, solar photovoltaic system is developed using MATLAB/SIMULINK which is connected to utility, artificial neural network (ANN) is used as maximum power point tracking (MPPT) algorithm for generation of maximum power by the system. Proportional-Integral (PI) controller that supports the information provided by ANN and generates boost converter duty-cycle helps in improving overall system stability. MPPT is evolved from a highly efficient boost converter where artificial neural network (ANN) with Levenberg-Marquardt (LM) algorithm is used for generating reference voltage for MPPT using feed forward back propagation training algorithm; error calculation is done by using the concept of mean square error algorithm. The developed system is verified under different test conditions and its control strategy shows exceptional performance having tracking efficiency exceeding 94.5%.
