Aldol condensation reaction in acid media was used for preparation of three kinds of monomers and investigated by FT IR and 1H NMR as discussed in our resent work. The terpolymers were synthetized by the polymerization of 2,6-bis (4-hydrxybenzylidene) cyclohexanone I, 2,6-bis (3-hydroxybezylidene) cyclohexanone II, and 2,6-bis (4-hydroxy-3- methoxybenzylidene) cyclohexanone III with isophthaloyl, terphthaloyl, adipoyl, sebacoyl and azobenzene 4,4-dicaroxyldichloride. The resulting terpolyesters were characterized by FT-IR, 1HNMR. The molecular weight was determined by the intrinsic viscosity measurements. The thermal stabilities of the prepared Terpolyester were evaluated thermogravimeteric analysis (TGA). Differential thermal analysis (DTA) was used for determination of glass temperatures. X-ray analysis shows the degree of crystallinity. The morphological properties of some selected polymers were detected by SEM.","PeriodicalId":20346,"journal":{"name":"Polymer science","volume":"158 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"73289596","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These IPNs (polyacrylamide –poly ethylene imine); (polyacrylamide-poly electrolyte) and poly (acrylamide-acrylic acid) copolymer are examined by UV-VIS spectrophotometry method to determine their ability for linking with iron ions that are prepared with standard solution employed for this purpose. The results, indicate that the copolymer prepared from (AcAm:AcAc) with 20% (wt/wt) from bisacrylamide has the ability of removing the iron ions from the solution. The swelling ratio for the prepared IPNs and copolymers was studied as a function of time at different pH (1.2, 8.4) and distilled water; the obtained data show that the swelling ratio was increased with increasing the pH. The morphology of copolymers was performed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) to show the pore size. A new triblock copolymer of (Polylactide-Pluronic127-Polylactide) is synthesized by ring opening polymerization using (DUB) Diazabicyclo-[5.4.0]-udec-7-ene as a catalyst. The triblock copolymer is characterized 1HNMR. Semi IPNs from triblock copolymer with acrylamide was prepared to use as a polymer drug delivery with Desferriox aminemethanesulphate (Iron overload chelating drug). The SEM for this semi IPN shows the nano structure due to the regular orientation of lactide fibers. Desferoxiamine release study as a function of time at pH 1.2 and 8.4 for 24 hours with semi IPNs coated with tetramethylourea and without coating was also carried out. The releasing studies show that the rate of releasing at GIF is larger than SGF.","PeriodicalId":20346,"journal":{"name":"Polymer science","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"85757650","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Therefore, fouling minimization and control represents the key to make those processes feasible. In the present paper, a review on the results of fouling control by the critical and threshold flux theories, focusing on olive mill wastewater coming from Spain (OMW-S) and Italy (OMW-I), is briefly covered. In first place, adequate fouling inhibition methods should be designed upstream the membrane operation, in order to make the downstream membrane processes for wastewater treatment technically and economically feasible. The followed strategy allows the operation of the membranes system in a controlled framework that permits the stable operation of the plant. Moreover, the calculated membrane area upon the adoption of feed control (FC) resulted in a requirement for the OMW-S stream of 74.2 and 50.3 m2 for the UF and NF membranes, respectively, whilst 113.1 and 49.7 m2 would be required for the treatment of the OMW-I stream. This also minimizes the membrane plant design, avoiding the common over-dimension wrongly estimated by engineers in order to guarantee sufficient operating autonomy to conduct the process that makes it unfeasible","PeriodicalId":20346,"journal":{"name":"Polymer science","volume":"15 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"81666601","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

PDMS samples of different molecular weights were prepared by anionically initiated ring-opening polymerization of octamethylcyclotetrasiloxane in emulsion. The molecular weight of PDMS drastically affected the shape of TGA curve at higher temperatures when thermogravimetric (TGA) measurements were performed in the inert atmosphere. The thermal stability of PDMS decreased with increasing the average molecular weight of the sample, which could be explained by prevailing unzipping mechanism at lower molecular weights over intramolecular and intermolecular redistribution, which were more important at higher molecular weights. On the other hand, experiments in oxygen atmosphere showed zero effect of polydimethylsiloxane molecular weight on its thermal stability. In addition, a kinetic model describing the thermal degradation of PDMS in inert atmosphere as a function of PDMS molecular weight was proposed. The proposed kinetic model was composed of diffusion-limited kinetics step related to evaporation rates of the degradation products and of rate-determined step related to the formation of cyclic degradation products. As a result of mathematical modeling by fitting the calculated data to experimental data kinetic parameters were derived properly.","PeriodicalId":20346,"journal":{"name":"Polymer science","volume":"433 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"76652789","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This is primarily due to large surface area which increased the interaction between the nanoparticles and the polymer. There are different routes for preparation of the polymer Nano composite with Nano fillers it can be melt compound, in-situ polymerization and the solvent method. The in-situ method was found to be best method due to that the nanoparticle is introduced directly to the monomer and it allowed for few minutes to disperse well to the monomer before the initiator is added to start polymerization. The in-situ method gives control over the particle size and morphology. The present studies investigate the surface morphology and thermal properties of nylon when the cellulose Nano-whiskers of different content was added into nylon monomer. SEM for surface studies, TGA for thermal stabilities and FTIR for chemical properties were studied. TGA results reveal that nylon thermal properties changes with addition of Nano crystals compared to pure nylon.","PeriodicalId":20346,"journal":{"name":"Polymer science","volume":"43 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"86310878","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is characterized with its lamellar structure. The introduction of 30% by weight of talc, three types differing with the particle size d50 and the composition, has not only a positive influence on stiffness and crystallinity but also it decreases the impact strength and tenacity. The abrasive wear behavior depends mainly on the particle size of talc.
