Les analyses granulometriques des sediments de surface, preleves a differentes profondeurs, ont permis d’identifier la nature de ces sediments et de preciser les facteurs et les phenomenes qui interviennent dans leur transport et leur depot. Elles ont montre que les sediments provenant de l’erosion des cotes sont soumis a une dynamique qui est controlee essentiellement par l’action des courants etroitement lies aux vents. Ces courants sont assez importants dans les petites profondeurs au nord et au sud, mais ils sont faibles dans les grandes profondeurs a l’interieur de la lagune. Translated version: Sedimentary hydrodynamics of Bizerte Lagoon Within the framework of the MODEM research project \"operational modeling for marine ecosystem development\", a research study was carried out on the sedimentary hydrodynamics of the Bizerte lagoon. The grain-size distribution analysis of surface sediments, acquired at several depths, allowed to identify the sediment nature and specifying factors and processes involved in their transport and deposition. This study showed that sediments coming from coastal erosion are under a hydrodynamic system, essentially controlled by the effect of currents, which depends on wind. Currents are strong in shallow waters in the northern and southern areas, but weak in deep waters inside the Bizerte lagoon. Parmi ces interactions, nous nous concentrons ici sur l'interaction entre les vagues et le courant, particulierement lorsque le courant presente un cisaillement fort sur la colonne d'eau. Dans le present travail, l'evaluation et l'analyse des interactions vagues-courant est realisee grâce a des simulations numeriques fondees sur les equations de Navier-Stokes en moyenne de Reynolds (Reynolds Averaged Navier Stokes, RANS), appliquees a la modelisation de l'ecoulement complet, a savoir vagues et courant simultanement (i.e. sans decoupler les deux phenomenes). Le solveur CFD avance Code_Saturne (ARCHAMBEAU et al., 2004) est employe a cette fin. Les resultats numeriques sont compares aux donnees experimentales de UMEYAMA (2005). Quatre hauteurs et periodes differentes de vague sont examinees pour chaque cas : (i) vagues seules, (ii) vagues et courant dans le meme sens et (iii) vagues s'opposant au courant. Une etude detaillee des changements induits par les interactions vagues-courant sur les profils verticaux de vitesses horizontales moyennes, de contraintes de Reynolds et de viscosite turbulente est presentee. Translated version: A CFD model application to analyze the vertical structure of flow in the wave-current environment The nearshore hydrodynamics and coastal circulation result from a variety of phenomena involving complex physical interactions with different scales (large scale circulation currents, tidal effects, waves, wind action, etc.). Among these interactions, we focus on the interaction between waves and currents, especially when the current presents a strong shear over the water depth. In the present work, the evaluation and analysis of wave-current interactions is made through numerical simulations based on Reynolds Averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) equations, applied to the modelling of the complete flow motion, namely waves and currents simultaneously (i.e. without decoupling the two phenomena). The advanced CFD solver Code_Saturne (ARCHAMBEAU et al., 2004) is used for this purpose. Numerical results are compared with experimental data from UMEYAMA (2005). Four different wave heights and wave periods are tested for each case: (i) waves only, (ii) waves following current and (iii) waves opposing current. A detailed study of the modifications linked to wave-current interactions on vertical profiles of mean horizontal velocities, Reynolds stresses and turbulent viscosities, is presented. Pour un regime sedimentaire non stationnaire sans depot et sans erosion, une premiere description de la repartition verticale de la concentration est proposee. Celle-ci, semblable a l’equation generale du profil de la concentration de la solution stationnaire, inclut un parametre nomme alpha, dont la valeur tend toujours vers sa valeur theorique terminale correspondant au regime stationnaire. En presence de depot ou d’erosion, si les variables du probleme restent constantes et si les echanges solides avec le fond sont proportionnels a la vitesse de chute des sediments multipliee par la concentration au fond, il est constate dans cette etude que le profil de la concentration tend vers une forme terminale. Suivant l’approche retenue, la modification de la forme du profil de la concentration due aux echanges avec le fond est decrite par une fonction incluant un deuxieme parametre designe beta. Le modele complet pour le profil vertical de la concentration en regime non stationnaire avec erosion et depot inclut ainsi, deux parametres adimensionnels, alpha et beta, et un parametre dimensionne correspondant a la concentration de reference. Une stationnarite des parametres alpha et beta est possible avec erosion ou depot, impliquant necessairement la non stationnarite de la concentration de reference. Les variations dans le temps des parametres alpha et beta sont simulees par deux equations phenomenologiques. Un bon ajustement de l’ensemble des formulations proposees a permis d’aboutir a un modele stable tres fiable qui peut permettre d’ameliorer considerablement la precision des modelisations de transport 2DH. The main principle of the coupled model based on the coupler PALM and the necessary modifications made for the coupling procedure to both numerical codes are described. First tests in horizontal two-dimension are made and they allowed us to develop a primary version. For three-dimensional flow, we show that the coupled model must solve the quasi-Eulerian velocity. In fact, a coherent analytical form of the wave forcing for the Lagrangian velocity does not exist. Nous considerons d’abord les experiences de DINGEMANS (1994), etudiant la propagation de vagues regulieres au-dessus d’une barre trapezoidale immergee. Les resultats numeriques demontrent une excellente capacite du modele a reproduire les effets de levee, les interactions fortement non-lineaires, ainsi que la generation puis la propagation de composantes harmoniques d’ordres eleves apres la barre. Ensuite, nous verifions la capacite du modele a propager des vagues irregulieres non-deferlantes sur une bathymetrie plus complexe (essai 26 de BECQ-GIRARD et al., 1999). L’analyse et la comparaison des spectres de variance montrent que les resultats du modele sont egalement en tres bon accord avec les mesures experimentales. Abstract: The new model recently proposed by the authors (CHAZEL et al., 2009) to simulate waves in the coastal zone is applied and validated on two experimental cases. Firstly the set of experiments by DINGEMANS (1994) is considered, with the propagation of regular waves over a submerged trapezoidal bar. The numerical results show the excellent capabilities of the model to reproduce the shoaling effects, as well as the generation and the further propagation of higher harmonics after the bar. Then we check the ability of the model to propagate irregular non-breaking waves over a more complex bottom profile (experiment 26 by BECQ-GIRARD et al., 1999). The analysis and comparison of variance spectra show that the model results are also in very good agreement with experimental measurements. Les evolutions mises en evidence, fortement induites par les activites humaines, se sont traduites, selon les epoques, par des modifications ecologiques positives ou negatives. Dans un second temps, nous montrerons que la tres forte regression de la biodiversite du lac que l’on constate depuis le debut des annees 1960, s’inscrit dans son evolution hydraulique et sedimentaire. En conclusion nous proposerons des pistes pour une gestion, notamment hydraulique, plus en phase avec les necessites ecologiques. Abstract: In the first part, the hydraulic and sedimentary history of Grand-Lieu Lake, are traced from the early eighteenth century. Some ecological changes, positive or negative according to the times, could be distinguished. These evolutions are strongly induced by human activities. In the second part, we show that the strong decline of the biodiversity observed since the early 1960s, is related to the hydraulic and sedimentary evolution. Coastal sediments are high biodiversity zones, where a multitude of living organisms have a special relationship with their substrate. An addition of exogenous materials has an impact on the natural equilibrium of the environment, notably during the transfer of contaminants on immersion zones, affecting species and the ecosystem. The objective of environmental assessment process is to estimate the potential risk of exposure upon ecosystems by integrating the benthic communities assessment. The evaluation of biological impacts in immersion zones helps to apprehend better the risk of using operational tools of appreciation. The aim of this paper is to present an expertise approach based upon index for assessing coastal endofauna. This index makes it possible to know sediment biological quality by making more transparent the environmental assessment process potentially influencing the deposits method and the monitoring of dredging operations in a sustainable development context. Study results show that sediments immersion effect is low and has a short duration on immersion zones having strong currents allowing rapid sediments resuspension. Based on a priori suggestions about the layout of marine energy converter arrays, we propose to highlight interactions effects between two horizontal axis marine current turbines, in open water. Experimental trials were run in IFREMER’s wave and current flume tank in Boulognesur-Mer (France), on marine current turbine models. Our study focuses on setups were the second turbine is axially aligned, at different distances, in the wake of the first one. Interaction effects are pointed out both in terms of performance and wake characterisation by means of a comparison with results on a single turbine. This study shows that the downstream turbine behaviour is deeply influenced by the upstream turbine wake. We also present numerical results obtained on a single turbine from our tri-dimensional numerical software, which is developed at the Laboratoire Ondes et Milieux Complexes, Le Havre (France). Esta nota tecnica que describe una serie de simulaciones de diluciones de vertido, asociadas a diferentes situaciones del emisario durante su reparacion, permitio demostrar a la administracion la utilidad de un tramo difusor. El exito de este estudio de simulaciones fue la claridad en la presentacion de los resultados, de manera que resulto evidente a la administracion los beneficios del tramo difusor respecto al incremento de tiempo y de presupuesto en la obra. Para obtener este resultado se requiere un conocimiento profundo de los particulares de la obra maritima y de la teoria academica aplicada, y ademas es necesario un contacto directo y continuo con los responsables de la administracion. Estas dos notas tecnicas (Parte I y Parte II) muestran una via por la cual, a nuestro juicio, se deberian mover las Universidades y Centros de Investigacion, para aumentar su utilidad directa en la sociedad. Partie II : simulations de rejet Initialement, le chantier de reparation de l’emissaire de Las Palmas de Canaria avait ete programme pour reparer l’emissaire sous-marin sans inclure un troncon diffuseur. Cette note technique sur les simulations des dilutions des rejets associees a differents etats de l’emissaire de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria pendant sa reparation, a permis de prouver a l’administration l’utilite d’un troncon diffuseur. La reussite de cette etude a reside dans la clarte de la presentation des resultats, de telle sorte que les effets benefiques apportes par le troncon diffuseur ont paru evidents a l’administration malgre les consequences sur la duree et le budget du chantier. L’obtention d’un tel resultat requiert une connaissance approfondie des specificites du chantier maritime et de ses aspects theoriques, et necessite un contact direct et continu avec les responsables de l’administration. Ces deux notes techniques (Partie I et Partie II) montrent un chemin a suivre, selon notre point de vue, par les universites et les centres de recherche, pour augmenter leur utilite directe dans la societe.
