La formulation mathematique ainsi que sa mise en œuvre numerique sont exposees, avec la presentation de la methode d’extension du domaine d’une a deux dimensions d’espace horizontales. Les capacites non-lineaires et dispersives de la version 1DH du modele sont demontrees a travers l’application a deux cas tests : d’abord, la generation et la propagation des harmoniques libres et liees associees aux vagues regulieres creees par un generateur de vagues de type piston sur un fond plat d’apres les experiences de CHAPALAIN et al. (1992), puis la propagation de vagues irregulieres au-dessus d’une barre sous-marine d’apres les experiences de BECQ-GIRARD et al. (1999). La bonne representation des transferts d’energie entre les differentes composantes harmoniques montre la capacite et la precision du modele a representer les effets dispersifs et non-lineaires d’ordres eleves. Le developpement d’une version 2DH du modele a ete teste pour simuler la propagation de vagues regulieres sur une marche immergee semi-circulaire agissant comme une lentille convergente, afin de reproduire deux des experiences de WHALIN (1971). Les premiers resultats obtenus utilisant des fonctions de base radiales pour calculer les derivees dans le plan horizontal montrent la capacite du modele de simuler des cas de bathymetries variables en 2DH. Cette methode semble prometteuse en vue de l’application a des cas realistes. Development of a nonlinear and dispersive numerical model of wave propagation in the coastal zone Abstract: Nonlinear and dispersive effects are significant for nearshore waves, leading to the study and development of a fully nonlinear and dispersive potential-flow model solving the Euler-Zakharov equations, which determine the temporal evolution of the free surface elevation and velocity potential. The mathematical model and its numerical implementation are presented, as well as the approach chosen to extend the model to two horizontal dimensions. The nonlinear and dispersive capabilities of the 1DH version of the model are demonstrated by applying the model to two test cases: (1) the generation of regular waves created by a piston-like wave maker and the propagation of the associated free and bound harmonics over a flat bottom, following the experiments of CHAPALAIN et al. (1992), and (2) the propagation of irregular waves over a barred beach profile, following the experiments of BECQ-GIRARD et al. (1999). The accuracy of the model in representing high-order nonlinear and dispersive effects is demonstrated by the reproduction of the energy transfers between different harmonic components. Ces approches biocenotiques ont ete \u0000completees dans les annees recentes par des approches cartographiques (projet CARTHAM), en se basant pour l’essentiel sur des cartographies biosedimentaires preexistantes et la prise en compte de donnees stationnelles dans la repartition des especes. La cartographie des habitats intertidaux et subtidaux ainsi proposee etait cependant lacunaire, sans prise en compte reelle de la diversite des habitats du domaine \u0000rocheux estuarien ou certaines particularites des estrans meubles sablo-vaseux. Puis, une methode de calcul en deplacement est proposee, qui vise a decrire une cinematique de rupture post-sismique initiee par des pressions interstitielles. Le principe du calcul est expose. Un exemple est commente. Impacts of the construction of Vridi channel on the coastal sediment stocks located between Abidjan and Jacqueville (Cote d’Ivoire) This work is a contribution to the knowledge of sediments and morphology changes of the coast between Abidjan and Jacqueville. The method used for this purpose is based on processing, analysis of topographic profiles and sand sampling collected on the field during successive surveys which were conducted from the year 1998 to 2008. The approach resulted in the identification of a sedimentary deficit of -2500 m3 in Port-Bouet and a positive sediment budget +2300 m3 in Jacqueville. This feeding engrossment causes a coastline progradation of 13.5 m. Sediments study highlights the various sediment stocks on both sites. On one hand, there is a stock mainly composed of coarse and polished material in Jacqueville indicating a long water way carriage, and on the other hand, there is a main stock of sub-angular to angular and very coarse materials in Port-Bouet showing the closeness of the purveying source. This study highlights the effects of protection works realized on the port channel on the distribution of facies between Jacqueville and Port-Bouet. Two applications are presented to illustrate the advantages of the method: the first concerns the jet emitted from the bottom in an open channel and the second deals with the lateral racking problem. These two applications concern the problem of creating artificial circulation of the water masses in order to homogenize the physical parameters of the medium. In applying the decomposition method, the field of studies is broken down into sub areas to take better account of the physical processes and the numerical methods suited to their applications. Two numerical methods are used, a finite difference near the wall and a particle method in high traffic areas. To set up in this domain a proven methodology, transposable in other places prone to episodes of marine floods, four sites with contrasted configurations were chosen for case studies. These sites are representative of most of the situations met during the storm Xynthia which hit the French Atlantic coast in February, 2010: - Loix is a peninsula surrounded by a set of basins and marshes, - Les Boucholeurs extends in border of a vast bay and presents houses on the sea front directly exposed to waves as well as setback constructions on the location of former leveed marshes, - Boyardville-La Perrotine is an urbanized zone crossed by a leveed canal connecting the sea front with a vast zone of swamp and a marina, - Batz-sur-Mer is characterized by salterns along which urbanization developed. These sites are structured by a network of natural features, levees, canals and ditches, road and railway infrastructures, involving many actors for their management. This paper presents case studies conclusions. The methods currently implementing allow, comparing the previous results and the areas actually connected to the sea for a given level, to determine the protected area for this level. The next step is to determine, where appropriate, the protection system. The evaluation of hydric properties (WC water content, LL liquidity limit, PL plastic limit, SL shrinkage limit) and of undrained shear strength Su must be made to ensure the follow-up of these operations (slopes stability, reversal of wind-rows in lagunage basins, bearing capacity of engines circulating on layers of sediments, consistency of the sediments, effect of remolding under cyclic request,…), rate of dehydration or drying. In first approach, the relation Su–WC could answer the problems posed. Measurement of the water content WC can be given by sampling; these samples obtained which also make it possible to follow the evolution of the components of the sediments (environmental properties, OMC organic matter content, pollutants level). For measurement of undrained shear strength, two laboratory tools are transposable on site: Vane Shear Test (VST) and the T-Bar Test (TBT). The first provides discrete measurements of Su, the second, continuous measurements. This last is sometimes used in laboratory. TBT Test can be used in vertical alternate cycles (penetration-extraction) and record the degradation of undrained strength. This tool allows the establishment of the relation Su–WC. Once presented the T-Bar Test geometry, kaolin clay properties and experimental set-up are given. This material is rich in marl, limestone marl and shale formations, it is therefore not surprising that clays are abundant in the Bay of Zemmouri, since the oued Isser is the main vector of input conveying detrital sediments of the continental domain to the marine domain. The granulometry of the lutitic fraction follows a gradual evolution from upstream (\"La Traille\" bridge) to the mouth with a N evolution index decreasing from sub-logarithmic to hyperbolic facies. Oued Isser presents a low sandy percentage (9.89% on average) hence a clay-silty facies. The case of beach Zemmouri and Boumerdes El-Bahri is edifying. The beach is bordered by a set of two juxtaposed coastal dunes. One directly along the beach which is commonly called active dune, the other named ancient dune is in second position towards the continent. Two main phenomena, first the erosive action of the sea and also the overuse of sandpits are the major causes of coastal degradation. We are witnessing a disappearance of the active dune and partial destruction of the ancient dune. In some places, depressions are created which facilitate the intrusion of marine waters.
