The former allows a robust moving detection especially in complex scenes. The latter is based on color space HSV, which is able to deal with different size and intensity shadows. After these two operations, it obtains an image with moving vehicle extracted, and then operation counting is effected by a method called virtual detector.","PeriodicalId":202698,"journal":{"name":"2008 IEEE International Conference on Signal Image Technology and Internet Based Systems","volume":"196 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-11-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121082701","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The CSLDA method provides two measures for authentication: distance to the client (Client Score) and distance to the mean of impostors (Impostor Score). A two-level multi-sample score fusion method has been proposed. A fuzzy inference module has also been developed to combine the scores of the CSLDA in the first level. The performance of fuzzy inference score fusion is then compared with several existing fusion methods and the conventional CSLDA face authentication system (without score fusion). Overall, the proposed fusion methods improve the performance of the algorithm and are more robust to variability of the inputs. Evaluation experiments were carried out with two different databases (AT&T and BANCA) where each contains face images of 40 subjects. Experimental results showed that the proposed multi-level fuzzy score fusion method improves the performance of the CSLDA based face authentication system compared to the other fusion techniques examined in this work.","PeriodicalId":202698,"journal":{"name":"2008 IEEE International Conference on Signal Image Technology and Internet Based Systems","volume":"73 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-11-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122775237","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To ensure the project objectives are met, a project manager (PM) maintaining control of the project plays much important roles in complex projects where interaction may be limited to a web-based collaborative tool. In such limitations, he should more strongly help avoid cost overruns, shipment delays, but most importantly, product performance including product reliability. We utilize context-based reasoning (CxBR) for implementing such control measures as typically used by competent PMs. A rocket development project is used as the domain to evaluate our technique, using NASA¿s open software for rocket design. Through the experimental evaluation, the easiness of validation and refinement of Knowledge represented by CxBR is clarified. As well, this Knowledge representation is expected to be effective even for building a web-based complex and intelligent CSCW system where biological sensor fusions are included for situational assessment to aim at the further reliable collaboration support that can avoid such as misunderstanding, mishearing, etc.","PeriodicalId":202698,"journal":{"name":"2008 IEEE International Conference on Signal Image Technology and Internet Based Systems","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-11-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123836232","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The skeleton images could be obtained from different kinds of input images and image processing approaches. This paper extracts both of the basic geometry attributes and additional structure information from the skeleton images. It extracts both of the palmprint minutiae feature and the local ridge feature, builds the relationship among the feature, and constructs the raw and rough feature set. For obtaining the final feature set, deleting the spurious feature while retaining the true feature as many as possible, the feature postprocessing approach proposed by this paper purifies the rough feature set based on the statistical and structural information, combing the information of the minutiae attribute, structural relationship in the minutiae subsets, the local ridge and the local region. We use and improve the point pattern matching approach in our previous work. It is a multi-phases minutiae matching based on both of the local structure and global feature. The experimental results reveal that the proposed feature processing approaches are effective and efficient for the practical requirement.","PeriodicalId":202698,"journal":{"name":"2008 IEEE International Conference on Signal Image Technology and Internet Based Systems","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-11-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126186930","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The new filters are based on 2D image processing adaptive algorithms extended to 3D mesh processing. We combine two adaptive algorithms to design more efficient bi-adaptive algorithms. The first filter is applied on the mesh triangles normal vector orientation and the second filter is applied on the vertices normal vector orientation. Both filters are applied on adaptively selected local neighborhood based on a threshold angle between normal vectors. Then the algorithm to update the vertices position is also adaptive according to a local variance evaluation compared to a noise variance threshold. We compare our two bi-adaptive algorithms results to other filtering algorithms according to reliable error metrics and show the new filters outperform previous features preserving and adaptive mesh denoising methods.","PeriodicalId":202698,"journal":{"name":"2008 IEEE International Conference on Signal Image Technology and Internet Based Systems","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-11-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121840809","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Recently, iterative learning algorithms for obtaining eigenvectors in the principal component analysis (PCA) have been presented in the field of pattern recognition and neural network. However, the Fisher linear discriminant analysis (FLDA) has been used in many fields, especially face image analysis. The drawback of FLDA is a long computational time based on a large-sized covariance matrix and the issue that the within-class covariance matrix is usually singular. In order to overcome this difficulty, we proposed the feature generation method simple-FLDA which is approximately derived from geometrical interpretation of FLDA. This algorithm is similar to simple-PCA and does not need matrix operation. In this paper, new statistical kernel based learning algorithms are presented. They are extended versions of simple-PCA and simple-FLDA to nonlinear space using the kernel function. Their preliminary simulation results are given for a simple face recognition problem.","PeriodicalId":202698,"journal":{"name":"2008 IEEE International Conference on Signal Image Technology and Internet Based Systems","volume":"306 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-11-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133641889","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Several projects have investigated the use of distributed hash tables for this task but query planning has received little attention in this context so far. Given the distributed nature of DHTs, latencies of messages and limited network bandwidth are crucial factors to consider. Also due to a lack of global knowledge in DHTs, query planning is different from centralized databases. This paper discusses a set of heuristics and evaluates their performance on the Lehigh University Benchmark with emphasis on the network traffic. The results show the importance of query planning in DHT based RDF triple stores.","PeriodicalId":202698,"journal":{"name":"2008 IEEE International Conference on Signal Image Technology and Internet Based Systems","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-11-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133303201","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Generally, existing clustering methods start with a known set of data objects, measured against a known set of attributes. However, there are numerous applications where the attribute set can only obtained gradually as processing data objects incrementally. This paper presents an incremental clustering algorithm (ICA) for clustering search results, which relies on pair-wise search result similarity calculated using Jaccard method. We use a measure namely, cluster average similarity area to score cluster cohesiveness. Experimental results show that our algorithm leads to less computational time than traditional clustering method while achieving a comparable or better clustering quality.","PeriodicalId":202698,"journal":{"name":"2008 IEEE International Conference on Signal Image Technology and Internet Based Systems","volume":"218 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-11-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122852384","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
