In this paper, the authors perform several three-point bending tests on a typical stacking sequences used in composite structures. Inspection techniques involving a digital microscope are used to study the successive failures and the effect of the thickness ratio (l h−1) on nonlinear behaviour. It was found that successive failures depend on the stacking sequence where the orthogonal sequences have a significant effect on the delamination between the plies. To describe the nonlinear behaviour observed, Von-Karman’s large deflection theory and classical plate theory (CPT) are employed in the formulation of analytical modelling used in this work. The Riccati equation obtained leads to predict the experimental nonlinear curves with good accuracy. However, a slight dispersion between the experimental and analytical curves less than 11% was observed at large deflection.","PeriodicalId":20245,"journal":{"name":"Plastics, Rubber and Composites","volume":"45 1","pages":"145 - 153"},"PeriodicalIF":2.0,"publicationDate":"2021-07-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"91202935","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"材料科学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Benzophenone (BP), as a photoinitiator, was melt-blended with PCL particles directly and then melt-pressed into films. Afterward, a series of shape-memory films were obtained by UV (at around λ=365 nm) irradiation crosslinking. A sequence study and comparison on the properties changes caused by the effect of irradiation temperature was carried out and it turns out that the gel fraction, shape-memory properties and tensile properties of the PCL films, which were photo-crosslinked at 55°C, were significantly higher than that at 25°C. The effect of photoinitiator contents and irradiation time on gel fraction, shape memory properties and tensile properties was also studied. It is considered that UV irradiation is an efficient method to prepare PCL shape-memory films.","PeriodicalId":20245,"journal":{"name":"Plastics, Rubber and Composites","volume":"32 1","pages":"47 - 54"},"PeriodicalIF":2.0,"publicationDate":"2021-07-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"72868017","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"材料科学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In our experiments, however, it was found that phase difference was gradually decreased as the number of stress cycles was increased. Using local weighted linear regression algorithm (LWLRA), experimental data were successfully analysed and phase difference values between loading and response were obtained. The relation between initial phase difference and loading frequency obeys power-law. Based on Maxwell viscoelastic model, the relationship between relaxation time and loading frequency was proposed, which could be described by a power function.","PeriodicalId":20245,"journal":{"name":"Plastics, Rubber and Composites","volume":"13 1","pages":"133 - 144"},"PeriodicalIF":2.0,"publicationDate":"2021-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"82766322","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"材料科学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The thermal degradation mechanism and thermal life of PMMA/MWCNT-OH in nitrogen and oxygen atmospheres were investigated in detail. When MWCNT-OH content was 3 wt-%, the maximum thermogray-weight temperature (T m) was 11.5°C and 61.4°C higher than that of PMMA in nitrogen and oxygen atmospheres. Three-dimensional diffusion reaction and level 1.5 chemical reaction in nitrogen atmosphere and one-dimensional diffusion reaction and level 1 chemical reaction chemical reaction in oxygen atmosphere by Achar method and Coats–Redfern method were the possible mechanisms of PMMA and PMMA/MWCNT-OH nanocomposites. The volume fraction and distribution arrangement of fiber reinforcement were designed to evaluate the effect of fiber arrangements on tensile properties of the printed composites. The experimental results proved that some outer and inner defects reduced the surface smoothness and tensile properties based on the analysis of macro and micro morphology. The fiber distributed evenly contributed to the dimensional precision and stability, as well as tensile properties. With the increasing fiber volume, the elastic modulus and ultimate tensile strength both approximately increased while the strain at break decreased. This work promises a significant contribution to the abilities of designing fiber arrangements to control tensile properties of 3D printed CFRTPCs.","PeriodicalId":20245,"journal":{"name":"Plastics, Rubber and Composites","volume":"53 19 1","pages":"85 - 97"},"PeriodicalIF":2.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"75235407","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"材料科学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy analysis revealed the existence of chemical interactions between the Ag@GO hybrid nanofiller and the PANI matrix. The ultraviolet–visible (UV–VIS) spectroscopy showed the presence of a silver nanoparticle peak. The nanostructure morphology of scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) established the presence of AgNPs on the surface of the GO nanosheets that successfully reinforced into the PANI matrix. The thermogravimetric-differential scanning calorimetry (TG-DSC) thermograms revealed that the thermal stability of the PANI/Ag@GO nanocomposite was significantly enhanced due to the synergistic effect imparted by the AgNPs, GO, and PANI matrix. The dielectric relaxation spectroscopy (DRS) study indicated that the dielectric behaviour of the PANI/Ag@GO nanocomposite was enhanced because of the strong interfacial interactions existing between the Ag@GO hybrid nanofiller and PANI matrix. Polyaniline/Ag@GO nanocomposite has been prepared via in situ polymerisation method. The results showed that the thermal stability as well as the dielectric properties of the PANI/Ag@GO nanocomposite increases due to the synergistic effect imparted by the GO, AgNP, and PANI, which may be suitable for application in the energy storage devices. It analyses the influence of the environmental conditions like the temperature, the flow velocity and the pressure on the humidity diffusion through the composite material. It is divided into an experimental plan and a data analysis, which exploit the experimental results in order to analyse the process of humidity diffusion by highlighting the effects of the influencing parameters. The increase in the temperature, the pressure, the flow velocity and the percentage of fillers additives (ASP400) induce an augmentation in the diffusion coefficient and the amount of absorbed humidity. We can affirm that the flow velocity and the pressure have a higher impact on the diffusion parameters than the temperature. Moreover, the increase in the percentage of the fillers additives (ASP400) decreases the effect of the pressure and the flow velocity on the diffusion parameters.","PeriodicalId":20245,"journal":{"name":"Plastics, Rubber and Composites","volume":"25 2 1","pages":"55 - 71"},"PeriodicalIF":2.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"84154785","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"材料科学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To investigate the low-velocity impact performances of thermoplastic composites with embedded delaminations, specimens were manufactured without delamination materials and by using different embedded delamination materials. Two different delamination diameters were also used so as to investigate the delamination diameters on the impact behaviour of composites. The long-term water absorption and thickness swelling of the composites were studied for a range of water immersion times. It was found that the moisture absorption and dimensional stability of the specimens progressively decreased with an increasing nano-ZnO loading. The lowest water diffusion coefficient and swelling rate parameter were observed in the specimens produced with 4 phc nano-ZnO. The mechanism of water transport processes the specimens was proved to follow the kinetics of Fickian diffusion theory. Morphological findings revealed that the void content in the composite decreased by adding nano-ZnO. The hydrophobicity of the specimens reinforced with nano-ZnO improved by creating a tortuous path as a result of its characteristic barrier property. In comparison with the contact angle of untreated samples (71°), adding 4 phc of nano-ZnO increased the contact angle by 34% (95°).","PeriodicalId":20245,"journal":{"name":"Plastics, Rubber and Composites","volume":"1 1","pages":"516 - 523"},"PeriodicalIF":2.0,"publicationDate":"2021-05-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"79628319","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"材料科学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
