This paper presents a complete algorithm to find a single object (human body) and identify the object as human being. The algorithm starts the segmentation process with basic frame difference method and use morphological operators, edge detection, feature point generation and finally spline interpolation to find the human like object. After completion of successful segmentation the algorithm takes a gentle approach to identify the object as human body and detect the pose by matching the templates. This paper describes every single step of single human body detection with perfection and ready for real life use.","PeriodicalId":202398,"journal":{"name":"2011 IEEE 9th International Symposium on Applied Machine Intelligence and Informatics (SAMI)","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-03-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121079948","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We study the impact of data normalization on artificial immune system (AIS) performance and two hundred AIS are constructed for this. Also, fifty AIS have been constructed and tested in order to finding best AIS for electricity consumption estimation in each case. Another unique feature of this study is the utilization of AIS in estimation domain and especially in electricity consumption estimation as the first time. Two standard inputs are used in order to training and testing developed AIS. The mentioned input parameters are gross domestic product (GDP) and population (POP). All of trained AIS are then compared with respect to mean absolute percentage error (MAPE). To meet the best performance of the intelligent based approaches, data are normalized. To show the applicability and superiority of the AIS, actual electricity consumption in USA, Japan and France from 1980 to 2007 is considered.","PeriodicalId":202398,"journal":{"name":"2011 IEEE 9th International Symposium on Applied Machine Intelligence and Informatics (SAMI)","volume":"81 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-03-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123314686","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Realization of mathematic models has become a fundamental part of design of many complex systems. By use of simulation, we can experiment with mathematical model similarly as with the real object without the risk of damage and with much lower expenses. Modeling represents experimental process that asserts the examined original (the modeled system) unambiguously another physical or abstract system. This has made the prediction of crude oil price a top priority for researchers and scientists alike. In this paper we present an intelligent system that predicts the price of crude oil. This system is based on Support Vector Machines. Support Vector Machines are supervised learners founded upon the principle of statistical learning theory. Our system utilized as its input key economic indicators which affect the price of crude oil and has as its output the price of crude oil. Data for our system was obtained from the West Texas Intermediate (WTI) dataset spanning 24 years and experimental results obtained were very promising as it proved that support vector machines could be used with a high degree of accuracy in predicting crude oil price.","PeriodicalId":202398,"journal":{"name":"2011 IEEE 9th International Symposium on Applied Machine Intelligence and Informatics (SAMI)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-03-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129663237","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The Feedback Linearization (FL) methods may be used to make convergence of WMRs on desired position, and orientation trajectories. Due to the weak performances against exogenous signals, the FL controller is replaced by a Sliding Mode Controller (SMC). Using the SMC with a saturation term may not remove the high range chattering; therefore, a Mamdani-type Fuzzy Sliding Mode Controller (FSMC) is proposed to decrease the chattering effects. The superiority of the proposed pure and fuzzy SMCs to the recent FL method has been revealed through simulations.","PeriodicalId":202398,"journal":{"name":"2011 IEEE 9th International Symposium on Applied Machine Intelligence and Informatics (SAMI)","volume":"46 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-03-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126812705","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These methods are based on mathematical models of fixed blades wind turbines windmills. This is the main reason that an important part of the paper is dedicated to the problematic of mathematical modeling of the wind turbine — focused mainly on the determination from experimental tunnels values of the required control values, by using different types of regression functions. From the values of the instantaneous generator's efficiency and the power supplied, by generator, while using the mathematical model of the turbine-generator group, the momentary value of the wind speed is determined. Also, by using the instantaneous value of the wind speed and the mathematical model of wind turbine's power, the optimum values of the operating rotation speed are computed for different wind speed values, in order to generate an off-line database table. The obtained optimum rotation speed values are further used in a look-up table for fast finding (through interpolation means) of the rotation speed, value that is prescribed to the rotation speed control loop. The main advantages of the proposed approach are the simplicity and robustness of the implementation.","PeriodicalId":202398,"journal":{"name":"2011 IEEE 9th International Symposium on Applied Machine Intelligence and Informatics (SAMI)","volume":"58 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-03-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131899701","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One problem is the exact description of the capabilites of single devices, which has to be processed automaticcaly for an efficient organization. This paper presents a solution for this problem with the usage of semantic information, i.e. such a representation, which can express the meaning of the capabilities of the devices and can be processed by computer systems. As the basis of such a collaboration, the VirCA system[1] is taken, which can manage the collaboration of different intelligent devices in a virtual environment in the conventional way. Then, it is demonstrated, how the VirCA system can be extended in order to support semantic information based collaboration. The structure of this paper is the following: In the first section, a brief introduction of semantic technologies is presented with the forms of appropriation. In the second section, the VirCA system itself is itroduced as a platform of collaboration between intelligent systems. In the third section, the extention of the VirCA system with semantic information is presented together with the architecture of the semantic components and the operation of the system. In the fourth section, the technology behind the semantic information management in VirCA is detailed, e.g. the ontologies applied together with some current research fields. In the fifth section, example applications of the system are presented with robots as intelligent devices.","PeriodicalId":202398,"journal":{"name":"2011 IEEE 9th International Symposium on Applied Machine Intelligence and Informatics (SAMI)","volume":"54 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-03-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117218132","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
