Lectotypes are designated for three names in Ammannia, three names in Rotala, and four names in Lagerstroemia. Second-step lectotype are designated for two names in Rotala and one name in each Ammannia and Lagerstroemia. Further, an epitype for the name Rotala floribunda is assigned.","PeriodicalId":20114,"journal":{"name":"Phytotaxa","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.0,"publicationDate":"2024-07-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141811241","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"生物学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Kalanchooideae, and eight species in this genus. He in addition published a new combination in Kitchingia for a species originally published in Kalanchoe. Otto Stapf (1857–1933), Austrian-born Kew botanist, described one new species of Kitchingia, and Alwin Berger (1871–1931), the German-born succulent plant expert, published two new combinations in Kitchingia. The genus Kitchingia was in the past variously upheld in Crassulaceae subfam. Kalanchooideae, but is today recognised in Kalanchoe at the rank of subgenus, as Kalanchoe subg. Kitchingia. The nomenclature and taxonomy of the names published in or transferred to Kitchingia by Baker, Stapf, and Berger are reviewed and discussed in a historical context. Where necessary, the names are typified.","PeriodicalId":20114,"journal":{"name":"Phytotaxa","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.0,"publicationDate":"2024-07-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141811782","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"生物学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Phyllanthus celatus is placed in Phyllanthus subgenus Phyllanthus section Phyllanthus subsection Phyllanthus. Morphologically it resembles P. augustinii, P. lobatus and P. niruri, but differs mainly by presenting reddish primary, secondary and intersecondary veins on the abaxial surface (vs absent in both species), and 5-lobed pistillate disc (vs entire only in P. augustinii and P. niruri). Of these, only P. lobatus has a lobed disc, but it differs in pistillate sepals light green (vs whitish or slightly pinkish), deeply 5-lobed pistillate glandular disc (vs 3–5-lobed), styles erect (vs curved), and geographic distribution restricted to the Southeast (vs South). The systematic position of this species and its morphological relationships with allies are discussed and field photographs, illustrations, a distribution map, preliminary conservation status, and taxonomic notes are provided.","PeriodicalId":20114,"journal":{"name":"Phytotaxa","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.0,"publicationDate":"2024-07-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141813396","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"生物学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In June 2020, during a study conducted in Taiwan, stromata associated with dead termite alates (or winged termites) (Odontotermes formosanus) were collected and characterized. This study identified a unique sexual morph, Ophiocordyceps taiwanensis sp. nov., distinguished by its asci and ascospore morphology compared to the majority of Ophiocordyceps species. Our new collection exhibits similarities to O. bispora (≡ Cordycepioideus bisporus), particularly in having asci with two ascospores. However, it differs in the shape of its perithecia, which are subglobose to ovoid, and in possessing smaller, aseptate ascospores. Phylogenetic analysis using various gene combinations in both preliminary and final LSU-ITS-SSU-TEF1-RPB2 sequence alignments revealed that our new isolates form a clade closely related to O. bispora KVL 606, supported by 88% MP/100% ML/1.00 PP BI statistical support. Based on its distinct morphology and phylogenetic placement, we propose O. taiwanensis as a new species, representing the first recorded instance of an Ophiocordyceps species associated with termites in Taiwan.","PeriodicalId":20114,"journal":{"name":"Phytotaxa","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.0,"publicationDate":"2024-07-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141826971","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"生物学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
