Detection and tracking of vehicles using the traffic surveillance system gives more promising way to manage and control the road traffic. Vehicle surveillance represents a challenging task of moving object segmentation in complex environment. The detection ratio of such algorithms depends upon the quality of the generated foreground mask. Therefore, the aim of this paper is to present an efficient method for detection and tracking of vehicles which focuses on the trajectory of motion of the objects. The proposed method preserves the group of pixels in foreground which can be probable vehicles and discards the rest as noise. Therefore, it selectively rejects the objects which cannot be vehicles at the same time consolidate the candidate vehicles. Here, the foreground mask generation process is improved so that the quality of generated foreground mask better consequently increases the detection ratio. The performance of the proposed method is evaluated by comparing it with other standard methods qualitatively as well as quantitatively. The experimental results have established the superior performance of the proposed method.","PeriodicalId":200661,"journal":{"name":"2016 13th International Conference on Electrical Engineering/Electronics, Computer, Telecommunications and Information Technology (ECTI-CON)","volume":"41 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114672115","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The synchronously rotating reference frame (SRRF) is applied to the proposed single-phase voltage sag detection to gain fast and proper operation. In the park transformation, the set of 2 AC voltages are needed to generate the DC voltages that are varied with the grid voltages. These 2 AC voltages are the reference AC voltage and its perpendicular AC voltage. To accomplish this requirement, the differentiator is employed in the fast single-phase voltage sag detection to form the perpendicular AC voltage from acquired grid voltage. The original fast single-phase voltage detection can work well in the ideal grid voltages that without harmonic, however, it is unable to work in the distorted grid voltages. This paper proposed an improvement of a fast single-phase voltage sag detection which is able to use in the distorted grid voltages with fast and proper operation.","PeriodicalId":200661,"journal":{"name":"2016 13th International Conference on Electrical Engineering/Electronics, Computer, Telecommunications and Information Technology (ECTI-CON)","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123604842","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Here, an experiment is conducted to study the fabrication of a carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) hydrogel membrane and its function as an absorbing layer in a resistive-based humidity sensor. The hydrogel membrane is prepared by coating the electrodes with 2 wt% CMC solution (in 3:1 water:ethanol mixture). Next, the CMC membrane is cross-linked in epichlorohydrin (ECH). Finally, the sensor is tested by measuring the resistance of the CMC hydrogel membrane at various relative humidity: RH = 53 %, 75 %, 84 % and 93 %. The measurement results show that the resistive-based humidity sensor made from the CMC hydrogel can function within this high humidity range.","PeriodicalId":200661,"journal":{"name":"2016 13th International Conference on Electrical Engineering/Electronics, Computer, Telecommunications and Information Technology (ECTI-CON)","volume":"146 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122779746","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To be precise, arms of the industrial robots used for welding consist of the sequence of jointed arms called kinematic chains and the arm tip called end effector. Such construction typically leads to problems about inverse kinematics in terms of its calculation for adjusting the angle size of each joint to have the end effector reach the desired target accurately and to minimize the movements in each joint. Therefore, this paper has presented a solution for those problems about inverse kinematics based on gradient following procedure and A-star algorithm in order to achieve the best practice. To suggest a solution, this paper has concerned about the accuracy and the minimum movement by carrying out a simulation on the simulative model with MATLAB program. According to the result, it was possible to calculate the proper degrees of the joint angles for creating the most accurate reach range of the end effector.","PeriodicalId":200661,"journal":{"name":"2016 13th International Conference on Electrical Engineering/Electronics, Computer, Telecommunications and Information Technology (ECTI-CON)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126060750","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The disadvantage of the time-domain computation are time consumptions and memory requirements. In this work, we apply the portable message passing interface standard (MPI) for the domain decomposition and the communication between processes. For the outer boundary conditions, we have used convolutional perfectly matched layer (C-PML) as open boundaries to terminate the EFIT lattices. For the numerical simulation example, we performed 2 numerical models with size of 1000×1000×600 cells with 16 processors on cluster computer nodes. The IEEE Std. 1427 can be applied for phase to ground and phase to phase insulations and electrical clearances calculations. Besides calculations, the simulation tool, EMTP as presents in IEEE Std. 1313.2 can be helpful for estimation the crest voltages at any location in substation. According to IEEE Std. 1427 which taking into account the basic switching impulse insulation levels (BSL), the iterative method is also required. At this voltage level, the procedure for calculations refer to IEC 60071-2 in range I can be applied. To compile with IEC 60071-2 for calculations the insulation levels and electrical clearances, the iteration process accounting for the standard rated switching impulse withstand voltage or BSL is not required but the test conversion factors have to be considered. The relation between insulation levels and electrical clearances applying IEEE and IEC standards are approximately linear. The insulation levels and electrical clearances when applied both standards are not significantly difference.","PeriodicalId":200661,"journal":{"name":"2016 13th International Conference on Electrical Engineering/Electronics, Computer, Telecommunications and Information Technology (ECTI-CON)","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126954140","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The purpose of this research is to present empirical data contrasting the available daylight hours of two distinct sites in South Africa, one being a semi-arid region and the other a pollution intensive area. Daylight hours are defined in this paper as the amount of time in which energy equivalent to the STC conditions is being received by a PV module. Both these sites are reported to have the same annual global horizontal irradiation according to available sources. However, the empirical data from this study indicates an average difference of 53% between the daylight hours available for the two sites for March, April and May.","PeriodicalId":200661,"journal":{"name":"2016 13th International Conference on Electrical Engineering/Electronics, Computer, Telecommunications and Information Technology (ECTI-CON)","volume":"73 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127072427","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
