The mathematical description of the system is given for comparison. It is shown that classical unregulated synchronous electric drives are inferior to induction electric drives by 30–40%. It is caused by both a decrease in excitation and a decrease in the limiting load angle according to the conditions of static stability. The phase current of electric drives with FRRM has a rectangular shape which allows one to significantly improve the weight and dimensions. Investigations were carried out on the basis of clustering of the general industry TEFC motors with following creation generalized 5-node thermodynamic models of TEFC motors for each cluster. Random loading mode of electric drive with uniform distribution law was simulated. Values of the coefficient of thermal resource of insulation expenditure were received with employment of generalized thermodynamic models. On the basis of these results expressions for approximate taking into account influence of the temperature fluctuations on acceleration of the insulation thermal resource expenditure were received. A control system block diagram is presented along with a functional scheme of the original speed observer using dynamic system state vector filter estimator. The synthesis of current regulator using machine parameters determined by inverse r model is shown. The method of a control matrix dimension reduction is proposed by removal the flux linkage calculations out of Kalman filter algorithms. Current and speed regulators, as well as a flux estimator, were implemented in the Mexbios Development Studio simulation environment. The authors consider the possibility of recording the leakage current parameters and the dependence of these parameters on the amplitude and frequency of the voltage pulses with the aim of using this information to monitor the state of isolation. It is shown that the proposed way makes it is possible to obtain relatively large values of leakage currents which simplifies the operation with them. However, to reliably determine the amplitude of the leakage current peaks, a relatively long measurement period with a large number of transmitted pulses is necessary. To change the rotational speed of the shaft of asynchronous engine (AM/E), the method of amplitude modulation is proposed. To modify the engine torque, a method is used to change the capacitance of the capacitor of the PC resonant oscillatory circuit. As a result, the circuit load voltage changes. The proposed solution based on the method of the amplitude modulation with the use of powerful transistor converters makes it possible to amplify a sufficiently weak harmonic input signal (not more than 1.5 W) to tens and hundreds of kilowatts. The use of a two-unit oscillating circuit with a series and parallel capacitors as a part of the power converter allows obtaining an undistorted sinusoidal voltage at the output with amplitude and frequency adjustment. The structure of a two-loop control system for an energy storage device based on the principles of subordinate control of the coordinates and including the internal loop of the external DC/DC converter current and the external DC-link circuit of the frequency converter is constructed. The research purpose is devoted to the system dynamic properties identification. The structure of control system regulators is disclosed. The results of modeling the control system processes, under the influence of the DC/AC converter test load, simulating the starting and braking modes of a regulated AC drive are presented. Industrial companies' and municipal services' proper operating require numerous complex systems interconnection and cooperation the structure of which depends on the company's type. The frequency control station (FCS) is one of the abovementioned systems. The FCS application for industrial unit group control is usually a technically and economically reasonable solution. Despite all the advantages, the solution provides a dangerous mode which could appear while operating. The article deals with AC electric drive transient at supply voltage loss. The reason for particular attention paid to the voltage loss's processes stands for its connection with FCS operating. The paper conducts detailed investigation of the IM switching processes between FC and mains. Besides, it considers the probable risk estimation. The technique proposed in the article intends to eliminate probable emergency operation while switching. The authors suggest soft switching technique, its schematic circuit implementation and a closed-loop control system designing and calculation. Thyristor voltage converters (TVC) are used as soft starters (MSS) for powerful asynchronous electric drives and are promising in terms of their use as systems with an economizer and for the development of devices to control the drive speed. However, the use of TVC causes significant harmonic distortion of the shape of the current consumed. The excessively consumed reactive power, direct current consumption, current pulses lead to the emergence of additional losses of electrical energy in the elements of the power-supply system, accelerate the aging of insulation of current-carrying parts of equipment and negatively influence its electromagnetic compatibility. While for a soft starter with rare starts of the drive these effects can be neglected, due to the shunting of the TVC after acceleration of the engine, for a soft starter with frequent starts and systems where the TVC remains in the operation after acceleration, they must be taken into account. In this paper, the authors describe a solution directed at compensating the harmonic distortion of the consumable current in systems with a TVC. The main element of the proposed device is an active energy filter (AEF) performed on IGBT-switches controlled by a relay current regulator. The paper contains an analytical overview of compensation process for the harmonic distortion of the current with the help of AEF and considers its structure and selected components.
