The degree to which corporate integrity has effects on performance of firms remains unclear because of the predominant theoretical perspective in explaining the positive implications of corporate integrity on orgnaisational performance. Thus, the objective of this study is to evaluate the effect of corporate integrity on organisational performance, with specific reference to banks in Nigeria. The study adopted survey research design. The study population comprised 2,723 knowledge workers of quoted banks in Nigeria. Purposive sampling technique was used to select 337 respondents from the population. The research instrument was validated using content validity test, and the Cronbach Alpha was used to test the internal consistency of the research instrument. Two hypotheses were tested using the inferential statistics (regression analysis). The first hypothesis revealed that procedure compliance systems (internal control mechanism) have effect on organisational effectiveness of banks in Nigeria. The second hypothesis revealed that organisational culture has significant influence on organisational effectiveness of banks in Nigeria. The study recommended among others that banks should formulate and communicate well-thought out ethical and integrity policies that encourage transparency to employees with clearly stated consequences in the case of non-compliance. Also, regulatory agencies should as a matter of urgency evaluate each company in the banking industry with respect to their internal control procedures.","PeriodicalId":199595,"journal":{"name":"LASU Journal of Employment Relations and Human Resource Management","volume":"47 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129806419","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study investigates the position of workplace envy in the relationship between Organizational Citizenship Behaviour (OCB) and Leader-Member Exchange (LMX) in addition to exploring a likely antithetical correlation between LMX and organizational envy. It thus explores how envy occasioned by poor LMX pressures envious worker’s behaviour or OCB in the workplace and suggests that when workers experience workplace envy, they display decreased motivation to assist others except such activities are stated in their job descriptions. The extra-supportive behaviours displayed by workers are significant for the smooth operations of organizations, so a deeper appreciation of envy as a hindrance to OCB is significantly constructive. The descriptive research design was employed. A sample of 465 respondents was drawn from the 1659 population of the staff of the four selected aviation companies. The Cronbach’s Alpha was utilized to calculate the reliability for the three scales adopted and the results were 0.75, 0.78 and 0.81. To explore the correlations between the different variables of the research, factor analysis, correlation, reliability tests, the means of the variable and regression analysis were utilized. The results of the study sustain the mediating effect of workplace envy on OCB and confirm the negative correlation between Workplace Envy, Organizational Citizenship Behaviour (OCB) and Leader-Member Exchange (LMX). The study recommends the institution of fairness and reasonable compensation schemes in organizations to dispel malicious envy. Also, managers have to be supported to generate helpful and unbiased situations since employees frequently experience envy attributable to gaps in their achievements and remunerations at work as compared with those of their colleagues. Nevertheless, the positive results of envy must be underscored so that envy offers a motivating role in the organisation.","PeriodicalId":199595,"journal":{"name":"LASU Journal of Employment Relations and Human Resource Management","volume":"71 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132695548","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study adopted survey research design. The population of the study comprised of four thousand, eight hundred and twenty-two (4,822) employees of all 23 quoted insurance companies in Nigeria. The sample size of four hundred and eighty (480) was used to represent the target population. The respondents were selected using a multi-stage sampling technique which comprised of stratified and purposive sampling techniques. The research instrument was adapted questionnaire developed by previous researchers. The research instrument was validated using content validity and Cronbach’s Alpha coefficient reliability result of technological change was 0.852 and employee’s quality of service was 0.725 which are greater than 0.7. The stated hypothesis was tested using regression analysis. The study revealed that technological change exerts positive significant (beta = -0.2333, P-value = 0.000 < 0.05) effect on employee’s quality of service. However, it is concluded that changes in technology enhance employee’s quality of service by reducing the workload and time saving. Thus, for insurance industry to achieve high performance and organisational growth, it requires employees to take the initiative and link their work skills to the evolving needs of the organisation in a manner that suits change initiatives being introduced. The study therefore recommended that the change in which employees are involved should be closely related to their own work environment.","PeriodicalId":199595,"journal":{"name":"LASU Journal of Employment Relations and Human Resource Management","volume":"98 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116815117","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study used the descriptive survey research design to select 192 respondents using purposive sampling method. Three hypotheses were tested at 0.05 level of significance using Pearson Product Moment Correlation with the aid of SPSS version 20. Results indicated a strong and statistically significant relationship between the three components of workplace spirituality (meaningful work, inner life, and sense of connection) and three components of employees’ commitment (affective, continuance and normative commitment). Arising from the findings, it was recommended among other things, that Lagos Island local government management should create forums for open discussion on spirituality, values, and rights of employees, and integrate organizational goals and personal goals to increase employees’ commitment. Also, there is need for Lagos Island local government management to put in place policies and procedures towards spiritual freedom which will assist employees develop their true potential and personality. Finally, Lagos Island local government management should indoctrinate workplace spiritual programmes towards organizational commitment into the workforce. By so doing, this will compel workers to be more loyal and committed, thereby rendering more positive services to the third tier of government.","PeriodicalId":199595,"journal":{"name":"LASU Journal of Employment Relations and Human Resource Management","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122193280","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Nonetheless, female entrepreneurs lack most often the financial access and the right human capacity development, which impinge their business growth due to their various mindsets’ drawbacks created by poor risk attitude. This study therefore is specifically aimed at evaluating the relationship between level of education and entrepreneurial risk attitudes with particular reference to market women in Lagos, Nigeria. The study adopted questionnaire as a source of data collection among 123 respondents, drawn from 15 purposive selected markets in Lagos, Nigeria. Correlation technique approach was adopted to explain the relationships between the measuring constructs in the study. The findings from the study revealed a not significant relationship between entrepreneurs’ level of education and their entrepreneurial risk attitudes (r = .080, p = .380 > 0.05). The study further established a correlation between level of education and entrepreneurial risk attitudes dimensions (risk aversion, risk neutrality and risk preference) where no association exist between level of education and risk aversion (r = .154, p = .089> 0.01). However, a strong positive and significant relationship were found between level of education and risk neutrality (r = .526, p = .000< 0.01) and risk preference (r = .524, p = .000< 0.01) respectively. The study conclusion showed that risk seeking behaviour is not moderated in the entrepreneurial pursuit of market women in Lagos State. The responses of the respondents largely proved that the level of education among market women hasn’t created any form of risk consciousness. Thus, the researchers recommended that risk management education should be considered as a focal point in the development of the market women psychologically and sociologically to get attracted to insurance in order to manage possible entrepreneurial failure.","PeriodicalId":199595,"journal":{"name":"LASU Journal of Employment Relations and Human Resource Management","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130881037","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The main objective of this study was to evaluate the structure and system of collective bargaining in Nigeria since the colonial period. The study adopted a conceptual analysis and theoretical explanation of the origin, development, weakness, and state involvement in collective bargaining policy in Nigeria through a critical review of extant literatures. The study revealed that collective bargaining as machinery for wage determination in the public sector is supposed to prevent the unilateral imposition of wages on the union by the government and vice versa as the case may be. However, it is not often used by the Nigerian government to determine wages rather government relied more on wage commissions, wage tribunals, and civil services administrative rules to determine wages in the public sector. Therefore, collective bargaining appears to be ineffective as a potent tool for wage determination in Nigeria’s public sector. The study also discovered that collective bargaining machinery in Nigeria is weak because of government’s direct involvement in collectivebargaining process to review, amend, even absolutely reject the collective agreement reached between unions and the government representative at the bargaining table. The study, therefore, concluded that collective bargaining is not an effective institution within the context of employment relations in Nigeria.","PeriodicalId":199595,"journal":{"name":"LASU Journal of Employment Relations and Human Resource Management","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114698501","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This was not on unconnected with the exits of the older generations who are better adjudged experienced and well knowledgeable in the ionic and covalent bond structures of the existing ranges of fabrics in the market. This is done by making the right choice of the reactive dyes combinations or their preparations and applying the appropriate processing technologies implying skill issues. The broad objective of this study was to examine the effect of skill acquisition on the dyeing industry while the specific objective includes first investigating the effect of high education on the marginal returns in the dyeing industry. The second specific objective was to examine the effect of practice on the marginal returns in the industry. These two variables are considered crucial to organizational effective performance, particularly, in the dyeing industry. This survey was based on the population of 146 respondents drawn from the five zones (A to E, Abeokuta South Local Government) in the industry. The research method was quantitative. The research design was a cross-sectional one. The analysis technique used for the study was the multiple regression analysis. Stratified sampling techniques were adopted to carry out the research survey.The study revealed that practice as a variable had a very strong effect (found to be 0.2) on the marginal returns in the dyeing industry. High education also had a significant effect (abstracted to be 0.05) on the marginal returns in the dyeing industry. The study concluded that skill acquisition had a significant effect on the performance of the dyeing industry in terms of the marginal returns in the industry and therefore recommended that technical education should be subsidized or be free. Government should also encourage secondary and tertiary levels of education by an increase in the budget share of high vocational education. Measures for individuals, corporate organizations, and government revitalizing and preferring technical, and vocational training (TVET) to complement the conventional education type should be instituted by the policymakers, and the decision drivers, which will go a long way to aid the unemployed especially the university graduates as well as the other army of the jobless people.","PeriodicalId":199595,"journal":{"name":"LASU Journal of Employment Relations and Human Resource Management","volume":"96 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116298131","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
