Both high and low-income countries suffer from this burden; indicates the prevention of skin diseases should be prioritised. In this research work, an intelligent diagnosis scheme is proposed for multi-class skin lesion classification. The proposed scheme is implemented using a hybrid approach i.e. using deep convolution neural network and error-correcting output codes (ECOC) support vector machine (SVM). The proposed scheme is designed, implemented and tested to classify skin lesion image into one of five categories, i.e. healthy, acne, eczema, benign, or malignant melanoma. Experiments were performed on 9,144 images obtained from different sources. AlexNET, a pre-trained CNN model was used to extract the features. For classification, the ECOC SVM classifier was used. Using ECOC SVM, the overall accuracy achieved is 86.21%. 10-fold cross validation technique was used to avoid overfitting. The results indicate that features obtained from the convolutional neural network are capable of enhancing the classification performance of multiple skin lesions.","PeriodicalId":199576,"journal":{"name":"2018 12th International Conference on Software, Knowledge, Information Management & Applications (SKIMA)","volume":"56 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126786769","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Development and optimization of Audio based search engines has attracted the interest of researchers for quite some time. Audio comes from multifarious sources in real world scenario which demand different processing techniques based on type. A system which can segregate audio based on type prior to searching can help in elevating the performance of the search engines. In this paper, a system is proposed towards segregation of speech, music and instrumental clips in order to aid towards performance enhancement of the search engines. The system works with a newly proposed Line Spectral Pair based feature namely Line Spectral Frequency-Ratio Grade(LSF-RG). The system has been tested on a database of as many as 105571 clips collected from the internet and different classifiers have been applied and a highest accuracy of 98.95% has been obtained for multi layer perceptron.","PeriodicalId":199576,"journal":{"name":"2018 12th International Conference on Software, Knowledge, Information Management & Applications (SKIMA)","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116629928","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

{"title":"Detection of SNP-SNP Interactions in Genome-wide Association Data Using Random Forests and Association Rules","authors":"Tung Nguyen, Ly Le","doi":"10.1109/SKIMA.2018.8631529","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.1109/SKIMA.2018.8631529","url":null,"abstract":"The primary goal of genome-wide association studies (GWAS) is to discover genes or variants associated with complex diseases. Most GWA studies use single SNP (single nucleotide polymorphism) approaches that mainly focused on assessing the association between each individual SNP and disease; therefore they cannot take into account the combinations of SNPs. However, complex diseases are thought to involve complex etiologies including complicated interactions between many SNPs. Thus, different approaches are necessary to identify SNPs that influence disease risk jointly or in complex interactions. To discover SNP-SNP interactions, in this paper we propose first to use an improvement of Random Forest algorithm tailored for structured GWAS data, all rules are then extracted from the trees to analyse SNPs interactions. Our method allows one to select subgroups of informative SNPs which are most relevant to disease for building accurate decision trees and then we enable educe SNPs interactions from these trees. By this way, it reduces the dimensionality and can perform well with high-dimensional SNPs data sets. We conducted experiments on two genome-wide SNP data sets to demonstrate the effectiveness of the method for the SNP-SNP interactions.","PeriodicalId":199576,"journal":{"name":"2018 12th International Conference on Software, Knowledge, Information Management & Applications (SKIMA)","volume":"492 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122203563","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

They are now no longer confined to the classroom walls, but are available to anyone connected to the internet. E-learning has opened massive opportunities for learners who otherwise would have been constrained due to geographical distances, time and/or cost factors. It has revolutionized the learning methods and represents a paradigm shift from traditional learning methods. However, despite all its advantages, e-learning is not without its own shortcomings. Understanding the effectiveness of a teaching strategy through learner feedback has been a key performance measure and decision making criteria to fine tune the teaching strategy. However, traditional methods of collecting learner feedback are inadequate in a geographically distributed, virtual setup of the e-learning environment. Innovative and novel learner feedback collection mechanism is hence the need of the hour. In this work, we design and develop a deep learning based student feedback prediction system by recognizing the subtle facial motions during a student’s learning activity. This allows the system to infer the needs of the learners as if it is a real-human teacher in order to provide the appropriate feedback. We propose a recurrent convolutional neural network structure to understand the color and depth streams of video taken by an RGB-D camera. Experimental results have shown that our system achieve high accuracy in estimating the feedback labels. While we demonstrate the proposed framework in an e-learning setup, it can be adapted to other applications such as in-house patient monitoring and rehabilitation training.","PeriodicalId":199576,"journal":{"name":"2018 12th International Conference on Software, Knowledge, Information Management & Applications (SKIMA)","volume":" 3","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"113950443","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this research, an automatic monitoring and control system is presented for fuel management at various generation points across the country. Centralized fuel management system helps in optimizing fuel consumption by controlling generators run-time, fuel level, timely fueling, consumption record, refilling alarms, and fuel theft. Fuel management system is primarily used as a solution for the problems that occur during manual fuelling at remote sites. This phenomenon occurs especially for fuel thefts representing one of the major issues being faced. Automatic alarm generation for theft, unusual opening of the tank, fuel level fall, temperature rise or any abnormal activity may help in better management. The data acquired from sensors and flow meters at human machine interface (HMI) is analyzed to obtain insights for efficient management. The results with and without fuel management system are compared for average fuel consumption and total cost. As notable improvements have been found at each site of the project, it is concluded that effective implementation of specific technological advancements for automatic monitoring and controlling is unavoidable for efficient fuel management, especially, in public sector projects.","PeriodicalId":199576,"journal":{"name":"2018 12th International Conference on Software, Knowledge, Information Management & Applications (SKIMA)","volume":"48 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124316235","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It affects all manufacturing sectors, mainly, the craft sector. Authentication is a solution to prevent handicraft products from counterfeiting. According to ISO (international organization for standardization) 27001, authentication is defined as the process used to conform that a claimed characteristics or attributes that appears to be true is in fact true. With the aim of guaranteeing the authenticity of product, various methodological approaches have been devised over the past years and several authentication schemes have been proposed. Although it is a widely discussed and studied topic, authentication remains a crucial issue.More specifically, the main issue that the craft sector is facing is the lack of a structure for communicating a product information requested by the customer (e.g. tourist) due to the organization of the craft industry. As a result, several questions are emerging which authentication system for the craft industry. How to collect the product data and make it available to this system while guaranteeing its quality? How to guarantee a real time answer to the user (e.g. tourist)?Thereby, the project we are developing is oriented towards the management of data related to the product manufactured by Moroccan artisans to preserve its authenticity. Our objective is to conceive a traceability system to manage the information of handicraft product throughout its life cycle based on smartest authentication technologies and features.The Mobile Backend as a service (MBaaS) will help for sharing authentication information about goods in real time, as the request of the customer, in other way, this service will provide the answer about the product authenticity.","PeriodicalId":199576,"journal":{"name":"2018 12th International Conference on Software, Knowledge, Information Management & Applications (SKIMA)","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131680239","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, some people still have concerns while making online purchases due to its uncertain attributes. In fact, there are many online consumers have suffered from monetary loose problem due to some reasons which the lack of the trust in e-commerce is one of them. Therefore, there is a great demand for a mechanism that helps to evaluate the trust throughout the online transactions. One of them is the existing mechanism of the trust management which is used in some e-commerce websites (e.g. eBay). Such a mechanism evaluates the trust by computing a trust value of any seller only based on the previous rating of the past transactions. Therefore, the trust value is only able to show the general status of the trust without taking into the account the new transaction. Consequently, there is a great possibility for the frauds to be committed by some of the malicious people. For example, some of them can easily build a good reputation by making many transactions by selling cheap products with good qualities and start to commit frauds by selling more expensive products. This kind of frauds is named by [1] as the value imbalance problem. Therefore, there is a great demand for a trust evaluation mechanism which consider the new transaction as well as the past transactions. In this paper, we propose a new method which considers three dimensions that play important roles in any online transaction to help the buyers to detect the frauds. This method measures the similarity between the new transaction and the past transactions in the products types dimension, the number of the products sold dimension and the transactions amounts dimension.","PeriodicalId":199576,"journal":{"name":"2018 12th International Conference on Software, Knowledge, Information Management & Applications (SKIMA)","volume":"86 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124952649","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

There are however many cases in which the user’s hands are occupied which demand an alternative way of interaction. In this paper, we presented a use case study to investigate the environmental effect on the possible foot gestures to operate a mobile device without removing it from the pocket. The participants intuitively performed their own foot gestures to execute five common music player commands in two different environments, either inside (alone in a room) or outside (with many people around). An optical flow analysis tool detected the intensity of the foot gestures in both conditions. However, the result revealed no significant effect on both conditions. The qualitative data reflects that the cognitive load is lower for the inside condition compared to the outside condition. Our study results provide first indications for the effectiveness of a foot-based interaction in this application area.","PeriodicalId":199576,"journal":{"name":"2018 12th International Conference on Software, Knowledge, Information Management & Applications (SKIMA)","volume":"209 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123109811","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
