OS-DC reduces Peak-to-Average Power Ratio (PAPR) in Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing with Offset Quadrature Amplitude Modulation (OFDM/OQAM) signals without the need of multiple iterations. In OS-DC the clipping function is modified to deeply clip the high amplitude peaks and is applied to an OFDM/OQAM transmission system. This achieves up to four times reduction in peak regrowth in comparison to repeated iterative Overlapped Segmental Clipping and Filtering (OS-CF). Furthermore, it is also demonstrated that the proposed method improves signal quality compared to the normal clipping, for the same PAPR.","PeriodicalId":199576,"journal":{"name":"2018 12th International Conference on Software, Knowledge, Information Management & Applications (SKIMA)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123759139","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, a new AR smartphone application that overlays network switch information over the user’s vision is designed and developed for real working environment to increase user’s efficiency in working with a network switch. Specifically, the prototype of the AR App is developed on the Android platform using both the Unity game engine and Vuforia AR library and connecting to the network switch to retrieve network information through telnet. By using the camera on the smartphone for capturing the visual information from the working environment, i.e. the network switch in this App, the network switch information such as speed, types, etc. will be overlaid on each port on the smartphone screen. A user study was conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of the AR App to assist users in performing network tasks. In particular, participants were tasked with connecting switchports to a patch panel to match up corresponding configurations. After three tests, it was found that the times for completion and mistakes made were reduced in the final test when compared to the first. This highlights the positive effects of the application in improving the user’s efficiency.","PeriodicalId":199576,"journal":{"name":"2018 12th International Conference on Software, Knowledge, Information Management & Applications (SKIMA)","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130812053","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

They aim to cope with transition from full parts quality control to continue manufacturing operations control on the part and the resources as well. The objective in this paper is to propose a new self-adaptive Cyber-Physical System enabling control on manufacturing operations. The research problem is to face the gap between the need to support production data changeability and the evolution of manufacturing resources properties and performances.The proposed contribution promotes the Cyber-Physical Systems as a collective decision making support for self-adaptive production systems. Multi Agent Systems are deployed as new layer to take advantage of the decentralized CPSs physical abilities to monitor their environment. This solution makes it possible to integrate real-time workshop status information into the decision-making process. The originality of the contribution consists in involving servitized Cyber-Physical Systems in the decision making process.","PeriodicalId":199576,"journal":{"name":"2018 12th International Conference on Software, Knowledge, Information Management & Applications (SKIMA)","volume":"87 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133290540","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Several initiatives and projects offer various governmental services for them, like information sharing, alerting and mHealth services. All of them carry important benefits for this user group, but these can only be utilized if the user acceptance is at a certain level. This is a requirement in order for the users to perceive the services as a benefit and not as hindrance. The key aspects for high acceptance are usability and user-friendliness, which will lead to successful-government systems designed for the target group. We have applied a combination of qualitative and quantitative research methods including an m-Government prototype to explore the key acceptance factors. Research approach utilizes the IGUAN framework, which is a user-driven method. We collected and analysed data guided by IGUAN framework about the acceptance of e-government services by elderly. The target group was recruited from Germany and Hungary. Our findings draw the attention to perceived security and perceived usability of an application; these are decisive factors for this target group.","PeriodicalId":199576,"journal":{"name":"2018 12th International Conference on Software, Knowledge, Information Management & Applications (SKIMA)","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115326198","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, a new text-to-animation framework for facial animation synthesis is proposed. The core idea is to improve the expressiveness of lip-sync animation by incorporating facial expressions in 3D animated characters. This idea is realized as a plug-in in Autodesk Maya, one of the most popular animation platforms in the industry, such that professional animators can effectively apply the method in their existing work. We evaluate the proposed system by conducting two sets of surveys, in which both novice and experienced users participate in the user study to provide feedback and evaluations from different perspectives. The results of the survey highlight the effectiveness of creating realistic facial animations with the use of emotion expressions. If computers can detect and distinguish these signs, communication would be easier and dependency on a translator reduces. This paper provides the structure of the system which translates Nepali signs from Nepali Sign Language (NSL) into their respective meaningful words. It captures the static hand gestures and translates the pictures into their corresponding meanings using 2D Convolutional Neural Network. Red glove is used for segmentation purpose. Data set is obtained by manually capturing images using a front camera of a laptop. The system got higher accuracy for the model that recognizes 5 signs than the 7 and the 9 signs model. It also facilitates the users to search for the signs using their corresponding English words. Its core objective is to make easy communication between differently-abled people and who do not understand sign language without involvement of a translator.","PeriodicalId":199576,"journal":{"name":"2018 12th International Conference on Software, Knowledge, Information Management & Applications (SKIMA)","volume":"51 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122460998","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The outlier detection may also be viewed as the pre-processing step for finding the objects that do not ensue the well-defined notions of predicted behavior in a data set. Recently, it emerges as a challenging issue in the real-world scenario to discover rare or novel events. This paper presents a novel and effective outlier detection method with kernel density estimation (KDE). A relative kernel-density based outlier factor (KDOF) is introduced to measure the outlier-ness score of an object in a given data sets. The proposed method is categorized into three phases. The first phase is to compute the local density at the given point using the KDE procedure. Then density fluctuation (DF) of each data point is calculated in step with the sum of the squares of the density differences between the point and its neighbors. Finally, the KDOF for each point is computed by comparing the density fluctuation at a given point with the average density fluctuation of its neighbors. Our experiments carried out on five real data sets have proven that the proposed method can perform better over other state-of-the-art outlier detection methods.","PeriodicalId":199576,"journal":{"name":"2018 12th International Conference on Software, Knowledge, Information Management & Applications (SKIMA)","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133486925","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A model used in many industrial sectors that allows to manage the supply chain and evaluate its redesign, is the SCOR (Supply Chain Operations Reference). This research proposes a framework that integrates the SCOR model in the Enterprise resource planning (ERP) system, for a Supply Chain based on RFID (Radio Frequency Identification). The methodology is presented through a case study on the new distribution of Italian postal stamps on the Italian. Through the AS-IS situation we explain the operation of the supply chain in each unit and define the information that could be collected through RFID. The RFID-enabled supply chain based on the SCOR framework involves shorter delivery times and greater product traceability, as accurate real-time information has been shared between partners. Each process of the SCOR model is analyzed and customized with respect to the RFID application, with a deep analysis of the improvements that can be achieved thanks to this technology. The SCOR model also involves a selection of performance measurement indicators used to monitor and manage the supply chain. The adoption of the RFID-based SCOR model, together with the definition of standardized Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), enabled rapid implementation of ERP software. The case study also produced some best practices such as stamp tracking and a specific warehouse layout configuration that resulted in better performance in operations management.","PeriodicalId":199576,"journal":{"name":"2018 12th International Conference on Software, Knowledge, Information Management & Applications (SKIMA)","volume":"67 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114842873","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
