Probit analysis was employed to determine the 96h LC50 of surfactants for O. mossambicus. Moreover, the survivability of surfactant exposed was calibrated and validated using general threshold survival models (GUTS) in terms of required data sets and fit performance. Subsequently, fish were assigned to experimental groups exposed to 10% and 20% of 96h LC50 of surfactants for the period of 45 d to assess the changes in growth, hematological, plasma biochemical, and enzymological as well as stress enzyme parameters in gills and liver by employing standard protocol. The 24h, 48h, 72h and 96h LC 50 values of ABS to O. mossambicus are 0.55mg/l, 0.28 mg/l, 0.09 mg/l and 0.06 mg/l respectively. Moreover, the GUTS- IT model better projected the survivability in O. mossambicus for ABS exposure. During sublethal exposure, a consequential reduction in specific growth rate (SGR), RBC, hemoglobin (Hb), hematocrit (Ht) value, plasma protein, albumin, and acetylcholinesterase (AChE) activities in gills and liver, as well as significant induction in gastrosomatic index (GSI), feed conversion ratio (FCR), plasma glucose, creatinine, alanine aminotransferase (ALT), and aspartate aminotransferase (AST) levels and catalase (CAT), superoxide dismutase (SOD), malondialdehyde (MDA) in gills and liver were observed in exposed fish. Moreover, in both gills and the liver, GST and glutathione peroxidase (GPx) exhibited a significant initial increase followed by a subsequent decrease in exposed fish. The effects of ABS on fish were identified using the correlation matrix, integrated biomarker response (IBR) and biomarker response index (BRI). These findings show that exposure to surfactant affects multiple biomarkers in O. mossambicus.","PeriodicalId":199401,"journal":{"name":"Scholars Academic Journal of Biosciences","volume":"304 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132744590","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These drugs cause serious health injuries to our young generation and child abusers. Our society is facing adverse effects due to drug addiction such as killing, hijacking, raping, western party celebrations etc. Department of narcotic drug control agency seized them every month which includes Heroin, Phensedyl (Codeine preparations), intravenous Morphine, Pethidine, Diazepam, Bromazepam, Yaba (Methamphetamine, Amphetamine with caffeine) and energy drinks containing sildenafil citrate and tadalafil citrate substances. Most of the addicted people are multiple drug users. So these substances should be detected by a rapid, reliable and cost effective method. The aim of the study was to understand the cause and risk factors of drug abuse. Methods: This cross-sectional analytical study was conducted at the outpatient department of Rajshahi Medical College Hospital, Rajshahi, Bangladesh during the period from July 2019 to july 2020 with a responsive sample size of 36. Data was analyzed using Microsoft Excel. During study the ethical clearance was obtained from proper authority. Clearance regarding handling of narcotic samples was also taken from the Ministry of Home Affairs. Result: This study was conducted with a responsive sample size of 36. Of the total 36 samples, 34 were cases and 2 were controls. Post analysis of the used drugs pattern showed that 8.33% of cases used Benzodiazepine+Opioid+PCP, 8.33% of cases used Cocaine+Opioid+THC, 25% of the cases used Opioid+THC, 8.33% cases used BZD+Cocaine+Opioid+THC, 25% cases used BZD+Opioid+THC, 8.33% of cases used Cocaine+Opioid and the rest 16.67% were control and tested negative at the time of data collection. Conclusion: Sources at the department of narcotics control intelligence wing also said that around 10,000 cases are filed and 9,000 people are arrested every year in connection with drug-related violence and crimes. In the present, people are using multiple drugs rather than a single substance. For the rapid detection of drug of abuse the method of priority should be rapid blood sample test by kit to avoid unwanted tempering and a reliable result","PeriodicalId":199401,"journal":{"name":"Scholars Academic Journal of Biosciences","volume":"136 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115625197","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Bambara groundnut (Vigna subterranea) is a grain legume grown worldwide due to its high nutritional values, nitrogen-fixing ability, and drought tolerance. To assess the existing genotypic and phenotypic diversity within Bambara groundnut accessions and to estimate the genetic parameters guiding future varietal improvement programs, 22 Bambara groundnut accessions were characterized in the Sahelian zone of Niger. Thus, the coefficient of variation ranged from 2.42% to 48.25%, and 7 of the 22 parameters measured presented high coefficients of variation (CV˃20%). Yield had positive high correlation with shell weight (r=0.56), 100-seed weight (r=0.61), and seed weight (r=0.99). The highest GCV and PCV were observed in number of seeds per plant (PVC=35.05% and GCV=22.65%), hull weight (PVC=85.91% and GCV=25.51%) and dry biomass weight (PVC=36. 61% and GCV=23.66%), for a respective heritability and genetic gain of: (h2b=41.58%; GA=30.03%), (h2b=8.82%; GA=15.60%) and (h2b=41.76%; GA=31.49%). The highest heritability is observed in the number of leaves (92.40%) and the date of maturity (92.08%). Emergence date revealed high heritability and genetic gain (h2b=78.77% and GA=20%). Parameters with high heritability and genetic gain (h2b≥60% and GA≥20%), are the least influenced by the environment. So, direct selection for improvement of these traits may be beneficial. To authenticate genetic inequality, principal component analysis (PCA) and hierarchical ascending clustering (HAC) were performed. The results showed a great agro-morphological diversity divided into four different groups, for the studied characters. Group 3 (4 accessions) and group 1 (3 accessions) are the high yielding accessions, while group 4 (8 accessions) and group 2 (7 accessions) are the lower yielding accessions. ...................","PeriodicalId":199401,"journal":{"name":"Scholars Academic Journal of Biosciences","volume":"390 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115208984","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The major concerns of the clinicians are its non-specific presentation and unavailability of tests with a high predictive value. Therefore, the need is for an infallible test that can be easily performed, quick, simple and cost-effective. Objectives: To assess the reliability of Haematological scoring system in diagnosis of suspected neonatal sepsis at early stage. Materials and Methods: A total of 84 suspected cases of neonatal sepsis were included in this prospective cross-sectional study carried out in Khulna City Medical College Hospital during the period from July 2021 to June 2022. The peripheral blood smears from all 84 patients were analysed using HSS of Rowell et al by pathologists. HSS assigns a score of 1 for each of seven findings significantly associated with sepsis such as total leukocyte count, total polymorphonuclear neutrophil count, elevated immature PMN count, elevated immature: total PMN ratio, Immature: mature PMN ratio >0.3, platelet count <150000/cmm, and pronounced degenerative or toxic changes in PMNs. The HSS score of >5 was interpreted as sepsis, blood culture was done as gold standard for diagnosis of sepsis. Each haematological parameter was assessed for its individual performance and sensitivity, specificity, positive and negative predictive values were calculated. Results: Among the total 84 suspected cases, 20 cases were diagnosed neonatal sepsis, (23.8%), 31 cases had probable infection (36.9%), and 33 cases were normal (39.3%). Elevated immature: total PMN count ratio (>0.2) and Immature: Mature PMN ratio (>0.3) were the most sensitive and specific parameter for sepsis. It was also seen that with increasing score, the likelihood of sepsis also increases. Conclusion: The sensitivities and specificities of the various parameters of HSS were found to be satisfactorily significant in identifying ........","PeriodicalId":199401,"journal":{"name":"Scholars Academic Journal of Biosciences","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127430594","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The coffee growing regions in India are mainly confined to the traditional South Indian states that are Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu and partly in non-traditional regions are Andhra Pradesh and Odisha. While to a smaller extent in North-Eastern states. The production of coffee has an impact on the national and international economies and is the second-most traded commodity in the world. Total area under coffee plantations in Andhra Pradesh was about 4010 ha. The Average yield of Andhra Pradesh coffee is roughly 363.9026MT per year and the average revenue is 629.158(in lakhs) per year. Deforestation and the loss of biodiversity are two effects of the expansion of coffee farming. However, shade-grown coffee has been hailed as a way to safeguard tropical biodiversity. If promoted, shade-grown coffee can help preserve some biodiversity, but it can't match a natural forest's whole range of ecological advantages. The coffee cultivated in Andhra Pradesh is mainly shade grown coffee. In this study we also focused on tree species diversity, we analysed data on tree species diversity from 20 field plots (0.1 ha) in coffee area of, Eastern Ghats, Andhra Pradesh, India. We also analyse diversity indices evenness indices species richness indices and Density, frequency, basal area and IVI also calculated. Forest ecosystems can be protected against rising levels of disruption by increasing the diversity of tree species. The variety of tree species may also be directly impacted by anthropogenic disturbance.","PeriodicalId":199401,"journal":{"name":"Scholars Academic Journal of Biosciences","volume":"56 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122818586","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Seventy percent of which ends into landfills, 19% is recycled and 11% is employed for energy generation. Generation of municipal solid waste in India is increasing day by day. The average per capita generation of waste was about 500 g/day in 2007 and it will increase to 925 g/day by 2047. Municipal solid waste (MSW) is one of the key components of India’s prominent mission ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’. Rising urbanization, faster economic growth and lifestyle changes all contribute to higher waste generation in India. Unscientific treatment, improper collection and low use of technology based solutions for handling MSW lead to hazards like environmental degradation, water pollution, air pollution and soil pollution. The most important step to be used for management of this waste would be minimising its generation but this is not really possible. Then to manage waste sustainably, the waste to wealth route remains a viable solution although in India it is not common practice. Maximum recycling, composting with organic municipal solid waste and waste to energy generation should be utilised for MSW management. This approach of sustainable waste management can solve the problem of land required for waste disposal and resulting pollution problems of air, ground, surface water, soil etc.","PeriodicalId":199401,"journal":{"name":"Scholars Academic Journal of Biosciences","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126279795","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study made it possible to take stock of this activity with a view to improving it for the benefit of consumers. A survey was therefore conducted among 100 market gardeners in the Kassirimé, Natio-Kobadara, Koko and Téguérré neighborhoods and 100 vendors at the Sinistré and Belle-Ville markets and at the large market. The results showed that the majority of market gardeners and sellers are women who have not been educated, with more than 10 years of experience. The analysis of production sites through the requirements of the GLOBALGAP standard showed non-compliance rates above 90%. The study on market gardening sites and markets using the ISHIKAWA causality diagram made it possible to identify the risk factors and to propose measures for controlling the dangers.
