Both the ligands have their own side effects when used as medicines. In the present study homo and mixed ligand complexes of both the ligands with iron were prepared and characterized by UV-visible spectrophotometry, Potentiometric study, IR spectroscopy, SEM/EDX and XRD. Overlay spectra obtained from UV-visible spectroscopy of our studied system show the formation of different types of species and confirm that mixed ligand complex is different from the other two systems. Potentiometric titration curves of homo and mixed ligand complexes show the formation of different types of species at different pH and confirm the formation of mixed ligand complex. The comparative results of SEM images of these systems show different surface topologies and hence conform to the formation of mixed ligand complex.","PeriodicalId":19784,"journal":{"name":"Pakistan journal of scientific and industrial research","volume":"86 1","pages":"12-17"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-03-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"77633287","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It was found that the highest control of H. armigera was observed for emamactin and the lowest was recoded for control. Similarly, the highest yield of tomato was recoded for neem-white oil treatment and lowest infestation was recorded for emamactin benzoate. The neem oil and neem oil in combination with white oil emulsified with NIFA adjuvant also showedbetter results than bifenthrin and hinge and turmeric crude extracts in controlling the larvae population of H. armigera. On the basis of these findings, neem oil and neem oil combined with white oil is the best management technique for controlling the H. armigera, as these agents pose least environmental hazards and are relatively nontoxic to beneficial insects and humans and readily photodegrade. \u0000Keywords:","PeriodicalId":19784,"journal":{"name":"Pakistan journal of scientific and industrial research","volume":"40 1","pages":"17-21"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-03-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"86215742","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Olive juice contains high vitamin E and phenolic compounds. Similarly, mandarin is a rich source of vitamin C. Hence olive juice was blended with mandarin fruit juice for increasing the therapeutic, nutritional and functional value of Ready-to-Serve (RTS) beverages. Preliminary study revealed that Ready-to-Serve (RTS) product of olive mandarin (60:40) was highly acceptable on sensory basis by the panel of judges. Olive juice and mandarin juice were utilized at various combinations with sugar and artificial sweeteners (aspartame, sucralose and cyclamate) for preparation  of therapeutic RTS beverages and evaluated for physico-chemical and sensory attributes during storage. The study revealed that the therapeutic RTS beverages prepared by blending of olive and mandarin juices with cyclamate has scored maximum for almost all sensorial quality attributes such as appearance, colour, flavour, taste and overall acceptability and also contained phenolic compounds, flavonoids and ascorbic acid in large quantity. A reducing trend was observed in ascorbic acid and increasing trend was observed in acidity content during the storage of beverage at room temperature over a period of 90 days. The beverage changed significantly with respect to TSS content along the storage period.","PeriodicalId":19784,"journal":{"name":"Pakistan journal of scientific and industrial research","volume":"14 2 1","pages":"37-47"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-03-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"86613630","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The leaves of eight locally grown varieties were analyzed for levels of moisture, total solids, ash, fat, fibre, protein, K, Ca, Mg, Na, Fe, Mn, Zn and Cu levels. Leaves were then subjected to solvent extraction with each of water ratio in, 75% ethanol, 75% methanol, 95% ethanol and 95% methanol. The extract yield was significantly highest for 75% ethanol extract of all varieties. Significantly highest polyphenol and flavonoid contents were examined for Gemlik leaves extracted with 75% ethanol. We recommend cultivation of Gemlik in Pakistan and extraction of bioactive compounds from olive leaves will be the most efficient with a binary solution of 75% ethanol in water. Further studies should be planned to assess antioxidant, antimicrobial and food preservation properties of olive leaf extract from locally grown varieties.","PeriodicalId":19784,"journal":{"name":"Pakistan journal of scientific and industrial research","volume":"33 1","pages":"9-16"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-03-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"89914971","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Cleaning of textile wastewater from these dangerous pollutants is a deeply concerned issue of the industry. Various physico-chemical and biological techniques are being practiced to remediate these effluents. But all these strategies have limitations at any corner of their application. Floating treatment wetlands (FTWs) are acknowledged as economical treatment options for various kinds of wastewater. Their efficacy has been ascribed in many lab-scale and pilot-scale studies, however scarceness of published data lies in sense of application of this technique using free floating aquatic plants for treating major primary reactive blue dye enriched textile water. So, the present study attempted to evaluate the performance of this method using two free floating aquatic plants, “Eichhornia crassipes” and “ Pistia stratiotes” to develop a lab scale FTWs system augmented with two pollutant degrading and plant growth promoting bacteria, “Bacillus cereus” and “Bacillus subtilis” after four retention times, 0, 24, 48 and 72 h. One control and eight FTW treatment reactors were established containing plants and bacteria separately or in combination. This system was applied to treat reactive blue dye enriched textile wastewater prepared synthetically. A remarkable reduction in pollutant indicating parameters, BOD, COD and colour concentration was observed for treatment reactor having Eichhornia crassipes and Bacillus cereus combination for 72 h retention time. All this stamped the authenticity of this plant-microbial enhanced FTWs technique to treat textile wastewater and opened an era of its on-site application.","PeriodicalId":19784,"journal":{"name":"Pakistan journal of scientific and industrial research","volume":"89 8","pages":"40-47"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-03-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"91504739","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Maximum wheat grain and straw yields (3203 and 3489 kg/ha, respectively) were recorded when ammonium sulphate was applied. Various N sources followed the order: Ammonium sulphate > urea > calcium ammonium nitrate and/or nitrophos. Comparatively higher N uptake by wheat (117.26 and 114.00 kg/ha) was observed with Ammonium sulphate and urea application, respectively. Similarly, maximum N recovery was observed with both these N sources followed by nitrophos, and calcium ammonium nitrate. However, the highest physiological efficiency (14.29 kg/kg fertilizer applied) was noted with the application of ammonium sulphate.","PeriodicalId":19784,"journal":{"name":"Pakistan journal of scientific and industrial research","volume":"17 1","pages":"62-66"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-03-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"83802295","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It keeps the internal body organs safe from external environmental conditions which can prove harmful for them. So, maintenance of skin integrity is very important for normal functioning of body. In our daily life body of both animals and humans encounter to different types of violence, some of them are of such a severity that they break the skin continuity. This breakage of skin continuity is termed as wound. Whenever, the skin continuity is broken, internal organs of body are exposed. This is a dangerous situation and can be fatal for life. Immediate response of skin after wound is the start of wound healing process which starts automatically. This process can be assisted in a number of ways by keeping the wound free from bacterial contamination, moisture and dirt. For this purpose a variety of antiseptic dressings are available which when applied topically support wound healing process. They prevent wound to be contaminated by any micro-organism and reduce wound healing time. Aloe vera is one of them, it possess significant wound healing properties. Herbs have been integral to both traditional and non-traditional forms of medicine dating back at least 5000 years. Herbal medicines, especially in wound management involve disinfection, debridement and provision of a suitable environment for aiding the natural course of healing. The super focus of this review is to summarize the findings of earlier scientists with authentic concluding verse for utilization of herbal medicines (Aloe vera) being safe, readily available and cheaper.","PeriodicalId":19784,"journal":{"name":"Pakistan journal of scientific and industrial research","volume":"36 1","pages":"48-61"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-03-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"78037462","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
