After a brief review of the literature, a research station for typical RFID tags was designed based on the Arduino board; software for communication of both systems was developed using typical software libraries. Subsequently, these systems were activated. A valuable part of the paper is research on the characteristics of the RFID system. Original is the way of conducting the tests, the means of measurement used and the results of tests. The obtained results are interesting, especially the conclusion that the working area declared by the manufacturer is not consistent with the obtained measurement results. The information contained in the summary of the paper may be helpful/useful in planning the use of RFID tags in real-world conditions.","PeriodicalId":197313,"journal":{"name":"Engineering Mechanics 2019","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-05-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130269453","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

During this accident, the helicopter Mi-171 was severely damaged. This paper contains an analysis of microgeometric properties (2D and 3D) of the part of the helicopter’s Mi -171 main gear, which failed during landing. The main gear contains a horizontal front strut, which is mounted to the fuselage via a coupling element in form of a cardan joint. The failure of this joint was ultimately responsible for the accident. This paper compares the qualitative properties of the joint manufactured by the Czech manufacturer and a former Soviet Union one. This paper also presents a 3D surface topography of both joint and investigates 3D surface parameters as an extension of a 2D surface parameters.","PeriodicalId":197313,"journal":{"name":"Engineering Mechanics 2019","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-05-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132236056","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The probabilistic assessment of NPP structures for Probabilistic Safety Analysis (PSA) level 2 of VVER 440/213 in the case of the extreme external even without the earthquake is presented. On the base of the meteorological monitoring of the locality the extreme load parameters were defined for the return period 10 4 years using the Monte Carlo simulations. There is showed summary of calculation models and calculation methods for the probability analysis of the structural resistance. The numerical simulations on the base of the LHS method were realized in the system ANSYS and FReET.","PeriodicalId":197313,"journal":{"name":"Engineering Mechanics 2019","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-05-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134208620","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Its material properties affect VF motion and thus resulting spectrum of produced sound. Influence of stiffness and damping of the SLP on sound spectrum of Czech vowels is examined using a two-dimensional (2D) finite element (FE) model of a human phonation system. The model consists of the VF (structure model) connected with an idealized trachea and vocal tract (VT) (fluid models). Five VTs for all Czech vowels [a:], [e:], [i:], [o:] and [u:] were used and their geometry were based on MRI data. Fluid flow in the trachea and VT was modelled by unsteady viscous compressible Navier-Stokes equations. Such a formu-lation enabled numerical simulation of a fluid-structure-acoustic interaction (FSAI). Self-sustained oscillations of the VF were described by a momentum equation including large deformations and a homogeneous linear elastic model of material was used. Fluid and structure solvers exchange displacements and boundary forces in each iteration. During closed phase VFs are in contact and fluid flow is separated. We can observe that both the damping and the stiffness of the SLP substantially influence the amplitude and frequency of VFs vibration as well as the open time of the glottis.","PeriodicalId":197313,"journal":{"name":"Engineering Mechanics 2019","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-05-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133625572","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The application focuses on the unique mini-invasive C-NAIL produced by the company Medin a.s. (Nové město na Moravě, Czech Republic). The focus is on types of calcaneal fractures and the possibilities of treating them, on the analysis of calcaneus load and the creation of a CAD-FEM model of the calcaneus from CT images (design – the engineeering point of view). Consequently, an analysis is carried out of the peripheral conditions including loading. The calculations were done on solid („healthy“) bones and bones cut into indidivual bone fragments (imitating broken bones), using the finite element method in the Ansys Workbench application.","PeriodicalId":197313,"journal":{"name":"Engineering Mechanics 2019","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-05-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133152121","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Wing cracks are the tensile cracks starting in the area close to the top of the preexisting defect – an inclined initial cut. The crack growth is followed by relative shear motion between the surfaces of the initial defect. The shear zone was studied separately and a set of feathering cracks developed. The scenarios of complex wingcrack systems development are discussed.","PeriodicalId":197313,"journal":{"name":"Engineering Mechanics 2019","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-05-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125906545","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
