This criterion is called total harmonic and unbalanced distortion (THUD) which can be used to calculate the amount of harmonics and unbalance of voltage, current and power waveforms. Whereas conventional factors such as Vࢤ/V+ and THD are fairly incomplete to express the total distortion of a signal in both harmonic and unbalanced environments, the use of alternative factors in such cases seems to be mandatory. It is demonstrated that the proposed voltage total harmonic and unbalanced distortion (VTHUD) along with voltage total harmonic distortion (VTHD) and voltage total unbalanced distortion (VTUD) are appropriate factors to achieve to this purpose. Furthermore, THUD is an extensive factor to compare two distorted environments from aspect of power quality issues.","PeriodicalId":197298,"journal":{"name":"2010 9th International Conference on Environment and Electrical Engineering","volume":"451 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-05-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114016363","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Firstly, since the impact of time delay introduced by remote signal's transmission and processing in wide-area measurement systems (WAMS) has to be considered, the design of SVC additional damping controller is formulated as the time-delay output feedback control problem. Then based on the direct feedback linearization (DFL) theory, robust control theories and state observer, the parameters of controller are designed by employed the free-weighting matrices method and pole placement method. Finally, taking the four-machine two-area power system as an example, the simulation results demonstrate the damping controller not only inhibits inter-area low-frequency oscillation evidently, but also is robust to various operating conditions and time delay.","PeriodicalId":197298,"journal":{"name":"2010 9th International Conference on Environment and Electrical Engineering","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-05-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121954018","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Based on recent testing standards and utilizing a modern industrial power corrupter, experiments were conducted at different sag magnitude, duration and point on wave. The predefined malfunction criterion is the unwanted disengagement of the main contacts. The experimental results show that different contactor has diverse level of ride through capability which depends on point on wave, magnitude and duration of the voltage sag. Experimental Investigation also shows that increasing sag initiation angle from 0° to 90° allows contactor immunity level to decease in term of sag magnitude.","PeriodicalId":197298,"journal":{"name":"2010 9th International Conference on Environment and Electrical Engineering","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-05-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128942887","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We look at the Multi-Layer Perceptron (MLP) network which has been the most used of ANNs architectures both in the renewable energy domain and in the time series forecasting. In previous studies, we have demonstrated that an optimized ANN with endogenous inputs can forecast the solar radiation on a horizontal surface with acceptable errors. Thus we propose to study the contribution of exogenous meteorological data to our optimized PMC and compare with different forecasting methods used previously: a naïve forecaster like persistence and an ANN with preprocessing using only endogenous inputs. Although intuitively the use of meteorological data may increase the quality of prediction, the obtained results are relatively mixed. The use of exogenous data generates a decrease of nRMSE between 0.5% and 1% for the two studied locations. The absolute error (RMSE) is decreased by 52 Wh/m2/day in the simple endogenous case and 335 Wh/m2/day for the persistence forecast.","PeriodicalId":197298,"journal":{"name":"2010 9th International Conference on Environment and Electrical Engineering","volume":"48 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-05-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126488083","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
