Unlike the 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE), where the carrier frequency between the transmitter and receiver are always at the same locations, in NR, they can be at different frequencies. In such case, this leads to the phase ramped up at the receiver which cannot be recovered if the OFDM symbol is not equipped with reference signal for channel estimation and equalization. In this paper, we present our model for this issue and how to eliminate it by compensating the phase difference at both transmitter and receiver. We also implement this approach in Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) and validate it in real hardware testbed. The result show that with phase compensation, the received signal constellation is significantly improved.","PeriodicalId":196900,"journal":{"name":"2021 International Conference on Advanced Technologies for Communications (ATC)","volume":"09 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-10-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129385985","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The algorithm provides a sufficient level of safety and can be performed efficiently by FPGA devices due to its high parallelism level. This paper presents a high-throughput, low hardware resources usage, and power-efficiency architecture of the SHA-256 algorithm targeting FPGA-based embedded platforms. The SHA-256 computing core takes advantage of the specific architecture of FPGA to achieve high performance. We implement the SHA-256 computing core with hardware description languages so that the computing core is technology-independent. Therefore, the computing core is suitable for building applications with various FPGA-based platforms. We conduct several experiments with both simulation and SoC boards. The experimental results show that the core achieves the same functionality, performance, and power consumption when implemented on different FPGA families. The implemented system with our SHA-256 computing core can function at 139.04 MHz, achieving a bandwidth of up to 1.04 Gbps. Compared to previous High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC) standard, VVC saves up to 50% bitrate for equal perceptual video quality. To reach this efficiency, Joint Video Experts Team (JVET) has introduced a number of improvement techniques to VVC model. As a result, the complexity of VVC encoding also greatly increases. One of the new techniques affects to the growing of complexity is the quad-tree nested multi-type tree (QTMT) including binary split and ternary splits, which lead to a block in VVC with various shapes in both square and rectangle. Based on the aforementioned information we propose in this paper a new deep learning based fast QTMT method. We use a learned convolutional neural network (CNN) model namely Early-Terminated Hierarchical CNN to predict the coding unit map and then fed into the VVC encoder to early terminate the block partitioning process. Experimental results show that the proposed method can save 30.29% encoding time with a negligible BD-Rate increase.","PeriodicalId":196900,"journal":{"name":"2021 International Conference on Advanced Technologies for Communications (ATC)","volume":"70 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-10-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130174779","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We have proposed an efficient multipath routing algorithm for creating bandwidth-abundant and flexible future software-defined core networks. Our proposed algorithm will figure out k-least-jointed shortest paths by using conventional k-shortest path algorithm, e.g., Yen's algorithm, incorporating with a greedy algorithm for the path selection. Thanks to that, the algorithm can help to exploit the use of MPTCP while reducing the bottleneck problem that may occur with shared links in the networks. In order to verify the efficiency of our proposal, we have implemented an MPTCP-enable software-defined testbed based on mininet, Ryu controller, and Kali Linux OS and perform numerical experiments to compare the network performance of our approach to traditional MPTCP as well as conventional TCP (without MPTCP). The obtained results confirmed that, by reducing the number of jointed links in the set of selected k-shortest paths, our solution outperforms the traditional MPTCP as well as that of conventional TCP networks.","PeriodicalId":196900,"journal":{"name":"2021 International Conference on Advanced Technologies for Communications (ATC)","volume":"56 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-10-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126686246","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

With the advancement of technology, many smart city systems have been developed at a rapid rate of which Smart Parking is emerging as one of the core components. Smart Parking promises to automate the parking process, thereby saving time, resources and effort for searching an optimal parking space as well as reducing traffic congestion and population. As one of the newly emerging and disrupting technology, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Deep Learning (AI/ML/DL) are being utilized in many aspects of developing a Smart Parking system. In this paper, we propose an solution for accelerating AI/ML/DL algorithms deployed on low-cost System-on-Chip platforms (SoCs), which are often used as edge devices in Smart Parking system. In particular, we leverage Binary Neural Network (BNN), one of the most advanced deep learning models, to build a heterogeneous algorithm for real-time identifying parking occupancy based on the integration of SoCs and existing surveillance systems. In particular, we first examine a cyber-attack reaction system that operates at the SDN control plane. Then, we propose a dynamic cyber-attack reaction solution to maximize the attack defense performance while minimizing the negative influence on benign traffic forwarding in the data plane. Next, we model the cyber-attack reaction system based on a Markov decision process (MDP) and formulate its optimization problem. Afterward, we develop a Q-learning based cyber-attack reaction control algorithm to solve the optimization problem, obtaining the optimal cyber-attack reaction policy. As our case study on denial-of-service (DoS) attacks, the obtained results verify that CARS can effectively prevent malicious packets from reaching the victim server in all DoS attacks, i.e., approximately 80% of abnormal packets are dropped.
