Despite significant numbers of cases, biomarkers related to iron status and development of anaemia in these patients has not been looked upon extensively. Few biomarkers have been studied, one of which is serum hepcidin levels. We aimed to estimate the serum hepcidin levels in patients with CKD and its correlation with its successive stages. Materials and Methods: The study design was cross-sectional observational study. 51 patients of CKD KDIGO stage II to V were included and patients of obstructive uropathy or malignancy or transplant recipient were excluded from the study. The aim of the study was to evaluate the association between serum hepcidin levels and Stages of CKD in terms of eGFR. Results: The mean serum hepcidin levels which were found in Stage II, III, IV and V of CKD patients was 65.48, 116.03, 136.61 and 160.37 ng/ml respectively. There was a strong negative correlation between eGFR and serum hepcidin level, and this correlation was statistically significant (r = -1.0, p = <0.001). The Krushkal-Wallis Test also provided p value of <0.001 when stages of CKD and serum hepcidin levels were correlated. Conclusion: There was significant positive correlation of serum hepcidin with the stages of CKD (P < 0.001) and the levels of serum hepcidin were found to be significantly higher as the stage increased. Thus, serum hepcidin may be used as a marker of iron metabolism, prognosis and progress of disease in the CKD patients.","PeriodicalId":19492,"journal":{"name":"Open Access Research Journal of Multidisciplinary Studies","volume":"19 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"89389697","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Methods: In this retrospective study, stroke patients hospitalized in our rehabilitation clinic were screened. Patients' age, gender, type of stroke, affected hemisphere, spasticity, functional ambulation category (FAC), mini-mental status, length of pre-rehabilitation and rehabilitation period, Brunsstrom staging, and Barthel index were investigated. Results: One hundred eight patients were included in the study. The mean age was 64.9±14.8. The mean length of pre-rehabilitation was 16.2±12.8 and rehabilitation was 20.7±9.1 days. A significant negative correlation was observed between the length of the rehabilitation period and all Brunnstrom sub-assessments after rehabilitation. A significant positive correlation was observed between the length of the rehabilitation period and the change in Brunnstrom stage for upper and lower extremity values, the stroke effect scale after rehabilitation, and the change in stroke impact scale value. A significant negative correlation was observed between pre-rehabilitation time and the Barthel index before and after rehabilitation. Conclusion: The prolongation of the pre-rehabilitation period is not a negative factor for functional gain in rehabilitation. The rehabilitation period of the patient should be decided by considering the functional status of the patient.","PeriodicalId":19492,"journal":{"name":"Open Access Research Journal of Multidisciplinary Studies","volume":"19 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"84736266","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study’s objective is to assess the effectiveness of xenograft (Hypro-oss) in radiographically documenting the osseointegration of immediate dental implants. Patients and methods: This study, which involved 8 patients aged 18 to 48, was carried out. divided into two equal groups, 12 immediate dental implants; (Control Group): Immediate placement of a dental implant after atraumatic extraction of a single-rooted tooth or remaining root, (Study Group): Single-rooted teeth in the maxillary arch’s anterior region should be extracted without trauma, and any remaining roots should be immediately replaced with dental implants and sealed with Hypro-Oss bone graft material. Clinical examinations done for all patients prior to surgery include examination of oral and para oral tissues and evaluation the intermaxillary space and the type of occlusion. In order to measure the density of the formed bone between living bone and the implant surface, radio- graphic evaluations using CBCT were performed at intervals of 15, 90, 180, and 270 days after surgery. Result: None of the patients displayed any indications or symptoms of soft tissue pain, tenderness, redness, or inflammation around the implant site. The soft tissue and bone around the implant should heal normally. The follow-up period was continued by all patients. Radiographic evaluation showed significant higher bone density in study group than control group after 15, 90, 180 and 270 days. Conclusion: The bone density around the implant increased when the Hypro-Oss bone graft was used.","PeriodicalId":19492,"journal":{"name":"Open Access Research Journal of Multidisciplinary Studies","volume":"71 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"75958952","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Four types of agricultural by-products (cocoa, sawdust, cashew and rice husk) from which seven substrates were constructed. The sawdust and rice husk were carbonised beforehand. A tomato crop was grown on these different substrates for three months. The tomato fruits of each substrate were analysed morphologically and physicochemically. The main results of the physico-chemical properties show that the shape coefficient and density gave good results with a round shape and a density lower than 1. The physico-chemical parameters showed that water content, dry matter and ash content showed no difference between the substrates. Tomatoes from RJC621 plants had high pH and brix (4.6 and 3.77) compared to the control (4.47 and 2). Fruits from plants receiving RJC710 composition had a high reducing sugar content (8.03%). As for titratable acidity, the RJC711 substrate showed the highest value (7.5g/l).","PeriodicalId":19492,"journal":{"name":"Open Access Research Journal of Multidisciplinary Studies","volume":"154 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"86572815","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The target population was all the 2020/2021 academic year level 300 teacher trainees in Ghana. However, St. Joseph’s College of Education (JOSCO), Bechem, was selected out of proximity from the 46 colleges of education in Ghana. At JOSCO, the Science/Mathematics, Agriculture/ICT and the Social Studies classes were randomly selected from the five level 300 classes and all the students in the three classes served as the experimental units. In effect, a ten-week period experimental tuition and evaluation on Educational Statistics was conducted and the data on the percentage of statistical concepts mastered by the teacher trainees were collected for the study. Tabular and graphical analyses on the data were carried out for the verification of the learning curve theory. Ordinary differential equations were used to derive the model for the prediction of the percentage of statistical concepts mastered by the teacher trainees. Graphical and numerical residual analyses were also conducted for the model adequacy checking. In all, the learning curve was successfully verified and the derived model was also found to be adequate for the prediction of the percentage of statistical concepts mastered by the teacher trainees at any point in time. This happens to be the first time research has been successfully conducted to verify the learning curve theory in statistical concept build-up in the colleges of education in Ghana.","PeriodicalId":19492,"journal":{"name":"Open Access Research Journal of Multidisciplinary Studies","volume":"40 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-02-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"73274762","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
