However, it has certain limitations like large current ripple in steady state and variable switching frequency operation of IGBT inverter switch during motor load changes. This paper presents an adaptive hysteresis current controller in which the hysteresis band is programmed as a function of motor speed and load current. The proposed current control strategy is applied in the inner control loop of the vector controlled permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) drive system in order to reduce the torque ripple during load variation and the obtained results are compared with conventional hysteresis controller under steady state and transient conditions with fixed and step changes in load. The complete PMSM drive system is modeled and tested in the MATLAB-Simulink environment for effectiveness of the study.","PeriodicalId":193763,"journal":{"name":"IEEE Technology Students' Symposium","volume":"107 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-06-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123085214","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Traditional computing techniques involved the use of application specific integrated circuits to achieve high performance but with extremely inflexible hardware design meanwhile the flexibility of hardware design was achieved at the cost of slow processing by using general purpose processors. In this research paper a novel reconfigurable processor architecture has been presented for cryptographic applications that bridges the above mentioned gap and also sustains implementations that can show equal or even better performance results than custom-hardware and hitherto preserves all the flexibility of general-purpose processors. We present implementations for representative algorithms of block cipher such as Rijndael, RC5 and RC6 on our architecture. The RTL Description is done in ModelSim using Verilog HDL and the results are synthesized in Synopsys. This work presents an emerging reconfigurable hardware that potentially delivers flexible high performance for cryptographic algorithms.","PeriodicalId":193763,"journal":{"name":"IEEE Technology Students' Symposium","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-06-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116871140","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper presents an approach for finding out the stems from text in Bengali, which is highly inflectional in nature. In our process, we first stripped off the suffix part from Bengali words using some suffix stripping rules, depending upon the type of suffixes. Then we checked for the validity of the suffix stripped word as root word, using a Bengali dictionary. We have tested the process on Bengali collection of the FIRE 2010 data set with 50 queries using Lucene as the search engine and it gives a quite satisfactory result in terms of recall and MAP value.","PeriodicalId":193763,"journal":{"name":"IEEE Technology Students' Symposium","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-06-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128262089","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The main constrain of sensor network is that the sensor nodes have constant power source. They cannot be recharged or replaced once deployed. Topological control is a popular technique for energy conservation in sensor networks. Therefore, numbers of cluster base energy conservation technique are defined previously. In cluster base technique, main problems are proper data aggregation and a large amount of energy wastage to make cluster. In this paper we study the problem of efficient data propagation with proper data aggregation model in wireless sensor networks. The EER (Energy Efficient Routing in Wireless Sensor Network) technique define optimal size of clusters where data are aggregated properly and data routing occurs in energy efficient way. In EER, clusters are generated with the help of L-system CA scheme. Data routing path is also decided by L-system CA scheme. The simulation result depicts that life time of the nodes increases with respect to other existing energy conservation techniques.","PeriodicalId":193763,"journal":{"name":"IEEE Technology Students' Symposium","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-06-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128996495","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

All-pMOS VCO followed by static frequency divider using source degeneration based D flip-flops is proposed. An accurate small signal analysis model of proposed D flip-flops is provided to estimate the maximum operating frequency of the divider. The advantages of proposed QVCO are analyzed in terms of phase noise and suppress the higher order (≥3) harmonics through linearization. The best overall performance is displayed by the inversion mode pMOS varactor. The proposed QVCO is tuned from 2.4 to 2.5 GHz with a tuning voltage varying from 0 to 1 V, additional 80 MHz increased by switched capacitor array (SCA). Compared to the conventional QVCO, the proposed QVCO shows good 1/ƒ3 close-in phase noise. The simulated results shows about 6.0 dB, 8.0 dB, 6.0 dB and 0 dB of phase noise improvement at 10 kHz, 100 kHz, 1 MHz and 3 MHz offset from a 2.4 GHz carrier frequency. The low-power PIR detectors take advantage of pyroelectricity to detect a human body that is a constant source of Passive Infrared (radiation in the infrared region). The system senses the signal generated by PIR sensor detecting the presence of individuals not at thermal equilibrium with the surrounding environment. Detecting the presence of any unauthorized person in any specific time interval, it triggers an alarm & sets up a call to a predefined number through a GSM modem. This highly reactive approach has low computational requirement, therefore it is well-suited to surveillance, industrial applications and smart environments. Two different queue control systems have been implemented with slightly different features. In EQC system-1, a general display has been used for displaying token number and service counter number whereas in EQC system-2, each token number has been displayed individually in each service counter with separate displays. In the both systems, each customer has to collect a token and then will be served whenever the token number is displayed. The systems were designed around a 16F72 IC, a low-cost 8-bit PIC microcontroller and entirely software controlled. The control programs have been developed using the PIC assembly language. Finally, the systems have been tested under different conditions to evaluate their performance.","PeriodicalId":193763,"journal":{"name":"IEEE Technology Students' Symposium","volume":"87 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-06-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128884057","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The outcome based curricula and pedagogies aligned with Bloom's cognitive levels play vital role in improving meta-cognitive thinking of the learners. Constructivism approach is being explored for the training of new hires at Mahindra Satyam. In this work, we discuss upon exploring constructivism, integrating with outcome based course plan, teaching and assessment approaches. The outcomes of the learning effectiveness are measured in terms of learning indicator, the course feedback from the participants, and feedback from the respective business unit evaluators. The utility of combining outcome based course design and case study approach enables the facilitator to create active environment and assess the strengths and weakness of the participants in the process of the learning. The approach also found to be effective in creating real project development environment akin to business units. It is observed that present approach is effective as the participants could perform well in the respective projects.","PeriodicalId":193763,"journal":{"name":"IEEE Technology Students' Symposium","volume":"201 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-06-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132174364","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
