Meanwhile, the data of two observation stations in the basin was used to validate the result of retrieval. The correlation coefficients of those between retrieved and observed at two stations were 0.853 and 0.917, respectively. The result shows the method meet the requirement of soil moisture inversion.","PeriodicalId":193438,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium","volume":"110 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-07-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122622258","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The success lies with the fact that these vehicles collect and process data, gather intelligence, and execute commands with feedbacks. The feedbacks are sent to different platforms for further analysis, which reveals that the infusion of such technology into homeland security management is a strong statement of needs and purpose. To meet the challenges posed by technology modeling in homeland security, a mission that measures or countermeasures terror plots must deploy a vehicle of a transportation system against the target-and-delivery systems (TADS) terrorists use in plotting and reaching their targets. This paper examined threats and counter responsibilities that require the use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). The objective is to identify domestic/international threats and special missions of UAVs that measures or counter-measures defined threats, without collateral loss or compromise of the safety and privacy of the general public. The result restricted UAVs' special missions to border counties if/when necessary. Acknowledgement: This material is based upon work supported by the US. MODIS Leaf Area Index (LAI) data were used to detect patterns and variations in annual integrated vegetation index (S.integral) for nine land cover types during 2001-2011. A smoothing algorithm using asymmetric Gaussian model was applied to smooth LAI time-series and estimate the values of S.integral. The result shows that the S.integral of forests was larger than that of other types during last ten years. However, the latitudinal variation in S.integral of forests was less pronounced. For grasslands and savannas, the S.integral was more significantly influenced by precipitation rather than temperature. In general, the S.integral of all types showed a decline trend in the southernmost of the study area. Then it presented an increasing trend from 35°N to 41°N. Between 43°N and 61°N, the S.integral kept decreasing again except around 52°N.","PeriodicalId":193438,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-07-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114388124","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Here we use these data to investigate the tropical circulation response to global warming during the last decade. We use the Atmospheric Infrared Sounder (AIRS), Advance Microwave Sounding Unit (AMSU) and the Advanced Microwave Scanning Radiometer for EOS (AMSR-E) data obtained on Aqua spacecraft to determine the trends in the surface and mid-troposphere temperatures, as well as trends in cloudiness, Outgoing Longwave Radiation (OLR) and precipitation over the West and East Pacific in 2002-2011. The Aqua instruments deliver accurate, simultaneous measurements of the state of the atmosphere twice per day. We find that the tropical (Walker) circulation over Pacific Ocean has been accelerating during this last decade.","PeriodicalId":193438,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium","volume":"116 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-07-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114508656","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The present study is being carried out for the upper Bhima basin in western India. The basin has undergone various land use changes during last decade and before due to various anthropogenic activities. An object based image analysis approach along with rainfall and resulting stream flow records for last two decades (1985-2004) were analyzed to study the impact of land use on steam flow in the basin. The study revealed that rainfall pattern was nearly constant during study period, whereas a significant reduction in stream flow has been observed. Conversion of wasteland to agricultural land, construction of new dams/reservoirs in the high rainfall region, increase in domestic and industrial water demand are the major factors responsible for stream flow reduction in the basin.","PeriodicalId":193438,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-07-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122028680","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

An additional preprocess and postprocess are adopted to transform the time domain model into the frequency domain model. And matrix vectorization is used to reduce the dimension. Optimal implement of the algorithm is discussed by comparing the cascading 1D RD-RCFB, cascading 2D RD-RCFB and 3D RD-RCFB. The algorithm outperforms the 3D Adaptive Sidelobe Reduction (ASR) and the 3D Amplitude and Phase Estimation of a Sinusoid(APES). Simulated planar aperture 3D image processing verified the algorithm.","PeriodicalId":193438,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-07-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122060609","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, a three-dimensional (3-D) nonlocal means filter is proposed for noise reduction of HSI. Recently, non-local means method attracts many attentions due to its global and local integrated property. Nonlocal algorithm searches the similar image patches in the whole scene to build the mean filter, so that it overcomes the disadvantage of local filter that only local pixels within a small neighbor is used, and the disadvantage of global filter that local structure is ignored. In order to explore the spectral-spatial correlation of HSI, nonlocal means method is extended from 2-D to 3-D. Furthermore, as HSI contains both of signal-independent and signal-dependent noises, variance-stabilizing transformation based on noise estimation is used to make noise reduction under the additive Gaussian noise model. Experiments with the real hyperspectral data set indicate that the proposed strategy can work well in both of detail preservation and noise removal.","PeriodicalId":193438,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium","volume":"94 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-07-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122097115","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Both the operational models have used the RossThick as the volumetric kernel. However, RossThick kernel does not count for the so-called hot spot effect. In this paper, analyses have been investigated into the hotspot effects for two models. The research aims to further study the modified classic kernel-driven models' performances in the principal plane, particularly in the retro-solar direction using Bréon et al. hot spot factor (Bréon et al., 2002). The results show that the factor indeed improves the hotspot modeling of RossThick used in kernel-driven models. However, the factor is somewhat not so suitable for land cover type without strong hotspot effect.","PeriodicalId":193438,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium","volume":"64 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-07-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122123426","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For agricultural studies, the software will include the Agricultural Vegetation Analyzer (AVA) module, which is based on a look-up table (LUT) inversion of a radiative transfer model (RTM). Moreover, a statistical evaluator box (MapStat) will be implemented to validate, amongst others, the estimation of vegetation biophysical variables. Results from a hyperspectral field campaign with the Airborne Prism Experiment (APEX) instrument in Bavaria (Germany) showed that AVA can be regarded as robust and sound technique obtaining moderate to good results without the need of crop- or site specific calibration. MapStat will guarantee comparability between numerous modeling studies expected in the upcoming years within the context of the future EnMAP sensor.","PeriodicalId":193438,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-07-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122226988","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
