The role of iteration reconstruction is widely used in many tomography applications. The use of iteration-based reconstruction algorithm offers more advantages than analytical methods. The development of algorithm can generally be classified into three major areas: analytical reconstruction, model-based iterative reconstruction and application-specific reconstruction. In this paper, the SART iteration-based reconstruction algorithm is simulated. Then the quality of the reconstructed image is expressed in terms of mean absolute error as compared to the original image. The simulation results are carried out using MATLAB tool. The present work aims to find the closest function describing RBCs flowing around the cell depleted layer in a polydimethysiloxane (PDMS) microchannel with a diverging and a converging bifurcation. The flow behaviour of the CFL was investigated by using a high-speed video microscopy system where special attention was devoted to its behaviour before the bifurcation and after the confluence of the microchannel. The numerical data was first obtained by using a manual tracking plugin and then analysed using the genetic algorithm approach. The results show that for the majority of the cases the function that more closely resembles the CFL boundary is the sum of trigonometric functions.","PeriodicalId":193362,"journal":{"name":"Int. J. In this context, the decision making process is important in order to achieve a strategic decision and strategy. When the decision making problem occurs there is usually a limited number of possible alternatives but a large number of criteria according to which the optimal solution is selected. It is important to use an appropriate approach. This study presents a hybrid methodological approach based on the Decision Making Trial and Evaluation Laboratory (DEMATEL) method and analytic hierarchy process method to define the best allied hospital for an integrated network of outpatient service. The rationalisation of available resources for health expenses requires that the health policies are, at all levels, aware of the clinical, economic and organisational implications concerning the adoption of healthcare programs (i.e., medical devices, drug therapies, procedures and services within the health facilities). This kind of evaluation implies an interdisciplinary approach because it involves many fields and includes critical assessment and measurement of the actual improvement of the quality of life of patients. The analytic hierarchy process, one of the most useful multi-criteria decision method, may allow the clinical and hospital management to facilitate decisions by structuring a hierarchy of decision elements and weighting criteria involved in the decision problem. In order to select the best preventive policy to reduce the incidence of a given disease, this paper proposes the use of the analytic hierarchy process which considers two hierarchies allowing to analyse both the effectiveness and efficiency of some policies and their costs. It has been developed for four years working with several senior physicians from Medicine Faculty of Los Andes University, and is currently being installed in a public hospital and in a private sport centre in Santiago in its testing mode. Selecting an MRI system is difficult because of stakeholders' differing interests, and the multidisciplinary nature of selection criteria should be taken as a function of time. The purpose of this study was to identify the most suitable MRI system for regional hospitals in the Czech Republic and to define the most appropriate multiple-criteria decision analysis (MCDA) model for medical equipment selection. Comparative modelling of various MCDA methods (AHP, TOPSIS, PROMETHEE II and SAW) was performed and three MRI systems recommended based on their default specifications. It is not an option rather a norm for the healthcare sector to uphold and maintain the level of service that is quintessential and benchmark in the service industries. However, service quality has different meanings to different people. In this paper, SERVQUAL has been considered as the main tool to measure service quality and analytic hierarchy process (AHP) has been applied to prioritise the five dimensions of SERVQUAL for healthcare sector. In addition to this, AHP has been applied to prioritise the various items representing each of the dimensions. The results show that Reliability and Assurance are the two most important service quality dimensions in the healthcare sector. Different conventional methods employed in diagnosing MTB lags in rapid and accurate diagnosis and there is no stand-alone test for diagnosing pathogenic Mycobacterium species in all the affected patients. Advent of nanotechnology has given fruitful results in diagnosing TB early and rapidly within hours. Arrival of nanotechnology in detecting pathogenic organism has speeded the sensitivity and specificity of the test. Optimisation of clinical results will give a point of care testing for diagnosing TB. A multilevel thresholding is used for segmentation. Thresholding is applied to convert MRI images to binary images. Fractal texture analysis is carried out for texture feature extraction. Mean and area features are extracted from binary images. We have computed fractal dimension (FD) using box counting method. The fractal measurements describe the boundary complexity of objects and structures beings segmented. Three features extracted, namely, mean, area and FD are used for classification. The images are classified as tumour or non-tumour using artificial neural network (ANN). The experiments are carried out on coronal, sagittal and axial views of brain MRI images. We have used the different number of thresholds (t) in the range [0-10]. We have found that the required value of t is three. Eight different parameters viz. specificity, sensitivity, accuracy, false positive rate (FPR), positive predictive value (PPV), negative predictive value (NPV), false discovery rate (FDR), F-SCORE for optimum number of thresholds are evaluated. We have obtained 100% classification accuracy for all the views of brain MRI images.","PeriodicalId":193362,"journal":{"name":"Int. J. Medical Eng.
