This insect is particularly worrisome for farmers due to its short life cycle, enabling rapid and prolific reproduction, resulting in substantial damage to fruit and vegetable crops.In this context, this article focuses on examining the biology and behavior of Drosophila suzukii, providing an in-depth understanding of these crucial aspects for efficient habitat management in agricultural crops. Recent research has shed light on the species' life cycle, highlighting it as a short one with a high reproductive rate. This means that the species has the potential to cause significant crop damage if not properly managed.Furthermore, the feeding preferences of Drosophila suzukii are a key factor in its behavior. This species tends to target ripe fruits, with a particular preference for soft-fleshed varieties, posing a major challenge in fruit cultivation. Understanding this aspect is essential for developing crop protection strategies.The article also addresses how this knowledge of the biology and behavior of Drosophila suzukii can be integrated into habitat management strategies in agricultural crops. Biological control agents and environmental modification techniques are becoming increasingly important in the fight against this pest.","PeriodicalId":192852,"journal":{"name":"\"Annals of the University of Craiova - Agriculture Montanology Cadastre Series \"","volume":" 41","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139139197","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Many combined fodder recipes are produced, depending on the species of animals fed and of their age. This article analyses the production process of combined fodder used to feed dairy cows. That is because, analysing the statistics obtained worldwide, it can be seen that a fairly large percentage (approximately 16-17% of the total production of combined fodder) is directed to feed this zootechnical sector, represented by dairy cows. An essential requirement imposed by the European Union is that of maintaining a level of pollution as low as possible. That is why this article presents the experimental results obtained at measuring the noxes eliminated by the work installations during the production of the combined fodder assortments for dairy cows. The rigorous monitoring of the noxes eliminated during the production process in a combined fodder factory is necessary for the following reasons: the safety of the human staff servicing the work equipment and a lowest pollution of the environment.","PeriodicalId":192852,"journal":{"name":"\"Annals of the University of Craiova - Agriculture Montanology Cadastre Series \"","volume":" 97","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139139304","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Depending on the culture system chosen, the physical and chemical quality of the soil can be affected in different ways. The chemical quality of some soils from Dolj county (Chernozems, Luvisols) was evaluated using several indicators (soil reaction, organic matter content, total nitrogen, mobile phosphorus and mobile potassium). On the depth of 0-50 cm, in both soils, 75% of the mobile phosphorus values were very low-low, respectively extremely low-low. Most of the studied Luvisols were characterized by low values of the mobile potassium content (50% in the topsoil and 63% on the 0-50cm depth, respectively). High correlation between PAL and KAL content was found in case of Luvisols (R2=0.908) and low in case of Chernozems (R2=0.300). High correlation in case of Luvisols may be due to the applied fertilizers.The values of the content of organic matter, total nitrogen, mobile phosphorus and mobile potassium were lower in the case of Luvisols compared to Chernozems and in most cases the values of the studied chemical indicators decrease with an increasing depth. According to the analyzed data, these soils have high potential for mineral ang organic fertiliser application.","PeriodicalId":192852,"journal":{"name":"\"Annals of the University of Craiova - Agriculture Montanology Cadastre Series \"","volume":" 46","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139138456","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To address the ever-increasing need for efficient and productive dairy cattle populations, the integration of genomics has emerged as a transformative tool. Genomic selection, a revolutionary advancement in cattle breeding, has allowed for the identification of superior individuals at an early age based on their genetic potential. Genomic selection has not only accelerated genetic progress but has also minimized generation intervals, leading to more efficient breeding programs. Furthermore, the incorporation of genomic data in selection decisions has increased the accuracy of breeding values, ultimately resulting in the production of dairy cattle with improved milk yield, fertility, and disease resistance. Beyond traditional breeding goals, genomics has also enabled the identification of genetic variants associated with traits that are difficult to measure, such as feed efficiency, heat tolerance, and environmental adaptability. By deciphering the genetic basis of these traits, it is now possible to develop breeding strategies that enhance the resilience of dairy cattle populations in the face of changing environmental conditions. This paper also explores the role of genomics in addressing health and welfare concerns within the dairy industry. Genetic markers associated with susceptibility to diseases and stress-related conditions have been identified, providing opportunities to select for healthier and more resilient animals. Furthermore, genomics has opened avenues for tailoring nutritional strategies to individual cattle based on their genetic predispositions, optimizing feed efficiency and reducing environmental impacts. The utilization of genomic data is not limited to breeding and production. Genomics has facilitated the development of innovative tools for managing dairy cattle populations. Precision management, including genomic-based early disease detection and personalized healthcare, is becoming increasingly viable, enhancing animal welfare and reducing production losses. In conclusion, genomics has revolutionized dairy cattle breeding and management by providing accurate and efficient tools for selecting animals with superior genetic potential, improving production, health, and welfare, and enhancing the overall sustainability of dairy cattle populations. As genomics continues to evolve, the dairy industry stands to benefit from a more precise and sustainable approach to cattle production, ensuring a resilient and productive future for the dairy sector.","PeriodicalId":192852,"journal":{"name":"\"Annals of the University of Craiova - Agriculture Montanology Cadastre Series \"","volume":" 40","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139140043","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Parasitic relationship is based on symbiotic acting of the nematodes from genera Steinernema and Heterorhabditis and bacteria Xenorhabdus and Photorhabdus.  They occur naturally in soil environment, but their natural populations mostly are not able to control pests at the level required by farmers. Mass production in liquid fer mentors can provide production for large scale application at competitive price compared to synthetic insecticides. Application is done by common application equipment for pesticides considering some specificity of bicontrol agents and by irrigation equipment. The major challenge for EPN efficacy is moisture. These derogations are pushed hard by the agribusiness-lobby and criticised by many scientists. Despite of this, EU allows Member States to derogate from two Good Agricultural Environmental Conditions (GAECs) in the now freshly implemented CAP (2023-2027). These derogations concern GAEC 7 (crop rotations) and the first requirement of GAEC 8 (maintenance of non-productive areas). All those derogations from environmental obligations are supposedly implemented in order to ensure food security in the EU. The success of long pepper cultivation is conditioned, to a large extent, by the cultivar used. In this sense, at Dăbuleni Research-Development Station for Plant Culture on Sands, research was carried out in 2023 regarding the variability of the main quantitative characters in the long pepper genotype 'Bogdan'. Fruit weight (g), fruit diameter (cm), pericarp thickness (mm) and shape index were analyzed. The registered biometric data were statistically processed, calculating for each analyzed character the mean (x̄x̄), the standard deviation (s), the coefficient of variability (s%), the range of variability (k = x̄ ± s), frequency of individuals (%).The calculation and analysis of variability showed, on average, over the three years of the study, a medium variability for the characters analyzed (fruit weight s% = 24.35; fruit height s% = 13.06; pericarp thickness s% = 20.97; shape index s% = 15.84). The statistical analysis of the recorded data showed that for the long pepper genotype 'Bogdan', they are uniform in terms of the variability of the main characters, the coefficient of variability having high and medium values for most of the analyzed characters, and it represents a valuable material for the improvement of this species in the conditions of sandy soils from the south of Oltenia.","PeriodicalId":192852,"journal":{"name":"\"Annals of the University of Craiova - Agriculture Montanology Cadastre Series \"","volume":"25 29","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139147763","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
