In this respect, a micromorphological investigation of a Vertic Phaeozem (located in Perchiu Hill) was performed.The research results emphasise the presence of many types of striated birefringent fabric (b-fabric) in the groundmass of the pedogenetic horizons, induced by the swell-shrink processes (and representing criteria for the quantification of stress processes in Vertisols and vertic subgroups) as: porostriated and granostriated b-fabric, are rarely and weak developed; and both reticulate and parallel striated b-fabric developed on short distances. Into the pedogenetic horizons, rock fragments also appear in different degrees of weathering and integration into the groundmass, emphasising different evolution steps in the solification process. The linear and cross-linear alteration types of the rock fragments induced optical orientation of the clay domains similar to the different types of the striated b-fabric.It could be concluded, that the b-fabrics, which are generally used as criteria for the quantification of the swell-shrinking processes stress (that disturbed the plant roots development and the soil life environment) also formed in situ from the strong weathered rock fragments. Consequently, the striated b-fabric generated by the weathering process created a friendly environment in soil and underlined a less stress forces (during the swell-shrink processes) in the studied soil.The weathering products enriched the soils in the most precious constituents (the clay and nutrients) responsible for soil fertility, and further creating a good vital environment for biota to better delivery the soil ecosystem services.","PeriodicalId":192852,"journal":{"name":"\"Annals of the University of Craiova - Agriculture Montanology Cadastre Series \"","volume":"10 5","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139385933","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study was focused on a Cambic-Cumulic Chernozem, located in the lower part of a convex slope facing south. The results showed that the plasma leaching process is very high in the upper Apt-A/B horizons: emphasised by the abundance of the impure clay coatings, which practically coated many structural aggregates. The granulometry data weakly emphasized these aspects: the differences between the clay content in the top Ap and Aph horizons is 1.1%, while the physical clay ( 0.01 mm) showed a higher difference of 1.8%. In contrast, the hydro-physical analysis showed impressive differences, comparing to the granulometry: total porosity is 53.5% in Ap and 43.2% in Aph, while the hydraulic conductivity is 10.29 mm/h in Ap, dropping to 4.57 mm/h in Aph. These differences could be due to the impure (and rich in Fe gels) clay coating which coated and even clog many pores. In the Bv horizon the clay attended a maximum (35.9%, comparing to 30.4% in the upper and 33.5% in the lower horizons respectively), the groundmass plasma is relatively stable, while the clay coatings are rarely. In stead, the plasma from the humic coprolites \"massively\" leached in the void space. The macro- and mesofauna activity is very high, suggesting a friendly habitat, and showing good conditions for high level of cumulic soil services delivery.","PeriodicalId":192852,"journal":{"name":"\"Annals of the University of Craiova - Agriculture Montanology Cadastre Series \"","volume":"47 20","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139384790","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

All soils contain a full range of heavy metals, but their concentrations usually are very low. Although, heavy metals concentrations differ from soil to soil, toxicity level is seldom reached, because geochemical cycles are very slow. The study present bioaccumulation of heavy metals in carrot and parsley roots from households in one of the critical areas of heavy metal contamination, Copșa Mică. The bioaccumulation factor was used to investigate the translocation of heavy metals in the soil-crop system. Bioaccumulation factors for cadmium varied between 0.001 and 0.185 in parsley roots, and between 0.004 and 0.300 in carrot roots. Bioaccumulation factors for lead varied between 0.000 and 0.003 in parsley roots, and between 0.000 and 0.002 in carrot roots. Bioaccumulation factors for zinc varied between 0.004 and 0.056 in parsley roots, and between 0.003 and 0.028 in carrot roots. Bioaccumulation factors for copper varied between 0.015 and 0.065 in parsley roots, and between 0.004 and 0.024 in carrot roots. The bioaccumulation factors of parsley roots followed the order Cd (0.185) > Cu (0.065) > Zn (0.056) > Pb (0.003) and in case of carrot roots Cd (0.300) > Zn (0.028) > Cu (0.024) > Pb (0.002). As it can be observed, cadmium was most easily uptaken by crops while lead was identified as having the lowest accumulation in crops.","PeriodicalId":192852,"journal":{"name":"\"Annals of the University of Craiova - Agriculture Montanology Cadastre Series \"","volume":"22 10","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139387070","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, Arges county is experiencing a significant decrease in productivity due to the acidity of its soil. This acidity is related to the behavior of certain soil properties essential for plant growth. The present work aims to study the pH behavior according to certain chemical parameters such as: exchangeable aluminum. To achieve this goal, forty-four soil samples were taken in the Costesti locality and sent to the soil laboratory where physical-chemical analyzes were performed. High concentrations of Al3+ in the nutrient solution cause harmful effects on the roots, which undergo morphological changes, turn black, reduce their growth in length and thickness, and fundamental changes in the capacity to absorb and retain cations occur. Thus, Al3+ ions cause a desorption of Ca2+, K + and Mg2+ ions and other species of cations from the pectocellubasic layer of root hairs, worsening nutrition, the absorption of these cations decreasing and increasing that of Al3+. It also reduces phosphorus nutrition, which precipitates as aluminum phosphates on the root surface. The risks of aluminum toxicity should not be overlooked. The rate of ammonia fertilizer use in the study area should be reduced, especially in soils with a pH below 5.4. It is recommended that strong bases input be used in these slightly acidic or acidic soils.","PeriodicalId":192852,"journal":{"name":"\"Annals of the University of Craiova - Agriculture Montanology Cadastre Series \"","volume":"65 26","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139385446","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

While Romania possesses significant potential for widespread adoption of these systems, only a few examples are currently in practice. The goal of this research was to highlight the most suitable woody species that could be introduced in the composition of the agroforestry systems across sandy soils of Dolj County. In order to determine the most preferred woody species a set of eight criteria was used and an Analytical Hierarchy Process was conducted by using Expert Choice Desktop (v. 11.5.1683) software. This research can serve as a model for similar studied aimed at selecting optimal agroforestry systems for specific sites. Under these conditions, the mineralization of organic matter is intensified, the activity of soil microorganisms is reduced and implicitly decreases soil trophicity. These aspects further show the need to apply irrigation in the agricultural sector, rationalysing water, managing it and recommending the best methods of water distribution, on soils with different textural classes. In this regard, research was carried out on water permeability, on soils formed in different pedo-climatic conditions. Thus, three soil profiles were opened, in the Tecuci Plain, on a typical arenosoil, in the Dobrogea Plateau, on a calcaric chernozem and in the Gavanu-Burdea Plain on a chromic luvisol. Soil profiles were characterized morphologically and physico-chemically, soil samples were collected both in natural and modified settlement (metal cylinders). The physico-chemical analyses for the three soil types were determined within INCDPA laboratories Bucharest. Based on soil samples collected in metal cylinders, water permeability was determined using the ratio between the thickness of the soil horizon and the time of water infiltration. Depending on the permeability of the soil on the three different soil types, the most suitable and economical watering methods for the current climatic conditions have been established and recommended.","PeriodicalId":192852,"journal":{"name":"\"Annals of the University of Craiova - Agriculture Montanology Cadastre Series \"","volume":"58 11","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139386296","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The data reflect the influence of tillage on maize yields in 2020 and 2021, two very different years from a climatic point of view (2020 – very dry, while 2021 – a medium year). In the dry year, the highest yield (3828 kg/ha) was obtained in the plots worked with the chisel which ensured a better accumulation of water in the soil, and the lowest yield was obtained in the control plots. In 2021, the highest yield (7510 kg/ha) was obtained in the variants ploughed in autumn, and the lowest in the control plots (2036 kg/ha). In both years, spring ploughing provided distinct and very significant increases in production, but much lower than fall ploughing or chiseling. The agrochemical analyzes revealed the highest values for humus, total nitrogen, available phosphorus and potassium contents, total cationic exchange capacity in the control plots, and the lowest values of these parameters in the autumn ploughed plots. The disking and spring ploughing ensured close values, but better for tillage with disks. Spring ploughing is not recommended, as it stimulates the loss of soil water and, by increasing soil aeration influences the humus decomposition. Therefore, it is recommended that spring ploughing should be replaced by tillage with disk.The short experimenting duration at Secuieni and the high soil resilience didn't allow highlighting statistically significant soil pH, humus, total nitrogen, mobile phosphorus and potassium contents changes under the influence of different soil working methods (ploughing at 20 and 30 cm, ploughing at 30 + 10 cm, chisel work at 20 cm, and discing at 12-15 cm, and combinations between them).","PeriodicalId":192852,"journal":{"name":"\"Annals of the University of Craiova - Agriculture Montanology Cadastre Series \"","volume":"17 10","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139386453","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

During the past three decades, the research and development of remediation technology for petroleum hydrocarbons-contaminated soil have been systematically studied such as the physical, chemical and bioremediation technologies. To address the associated environmental concerns, innovative remediation technologies are urgently needed. Cyclodextrins are nonhazardous and environmentally acceptable organic substances that have been shown to be biodegradable in soil and water after their introduction into an environmental system. The decontamination technique based in cyclodextrin extraction has been developed to eliminate petroleum hydrocarbons. Cyclodextrins have successfully been used in soil cleaning technologies as solubiliser–carrier molecules. These molecules can transfer continuously the insoluble contaminants from the soil surface to the aqueous phase by complex formation. In the aqueous phase the microorganisms can degrade the contaminants much easier partly because these molecules become available for the microbial cells, partly because the entrapment of contaminants by cyclodextrins reduces their toxicity.","PeriodicalId":192852,"journal":{"name":"\"Annals of the University of Craiova - Agriculture Montanology Cadastre Series \"","volume":"36 9","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139385118","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Taking into account their genesis and location, there are two main problems concerning the „Eutricambosol classification“: they were classified, by mistake as Luvosols (due to the presence of an „alteration bed“); they were restricted to the zones with > 600mm precipitations.The researches focused on these two problems, detailing the characteristics of the „alteration bed“ on two profiles of Eutricambosols located in the Oriental Carpathian Mountains.The micromorphological investigation of the „alteration bed“ (which appears at the bottom of the two studied profiles) showed clay coatings, generated mainly by the skeleton grains weathering. The weathered products (clay+Fe+etc.) leached and reorganised on short distances, mobilized mainly by the laminar circulation of the soil solution.In what concerning the second mistake, the precipitations > 600mm is not a condition in the soil classification/taxonomy, it was inherited from the old (’60-s –‘70-s) „Pedology manuals‟, when both Cambisols (Eutricambosols and Districambosols) were included into the ˶Forest Brown Soils ̋ ̋, developing in the deciduous forests zone, with 632–1035mm precipitations.In reality, Eutricambosols are ubiquitous, being formed in a wide variety of landscapes: from tabular plain, to hilly and low mountains regions.In this respect, it would be desirable to know the concept and the correct classification of each soil, which leads to a correct management and further to the adequate conservation technologies, in order to preserved and/or improve the biota habitat for a better delivery of the soil ecosystem services.","PeriodicalId":192852,"journal":{"name":"\"Annals of the University of Craiova - Agriculture Montanology Cadastre Series \"","volume":"63 36","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139385577","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
