Cell which is known as the building of body is made up of these biomolecules. These biomolecules are further made up of inorganic compounds. C, H, N, O is the four major inorganic compounds which make the 94% of the cell. S, P makes 3% of the cell. Biomolecules also called as biological molecule, which are produced by cells and living organisms. The four major types of biomolecules are carbohydrates, lipids, nucleic acids, and proteins.","PeriodicalId":18897,"journal":{"name":"Natural products chemistry & research","volume":"23 1","pages":"1-2"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"76173424","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is used as the common effective medicinal herb in many countries. The study plant has many therapeutic values like anti\u0002inflammatory, ant diabetic, antimicrobial and antioxidant activities. The present study deals with the physicochemical and preliminary phytochemical analysis of Abrus precatorius roots. Five different solvents like Hexane, Petroleum ether, Chloroform, Methanol, and Aqueous were used to obtain the extract. These extracts were subjected for physicochemical and qualitative phytochemical analysis by using the standard procedures. Physico\u0002chemical parameters like moisture content, total ash, water soluble ash and sulphated ash values were calculated. Alkaloids, flavonoids, glycosides and phenols are present in the all the extracts. These bioactive compounds obtained from the phytochemical analysis may be the responsible for the pharmaceutical activity.","PeriodicalId":18897,"journal":{"name":"Natural products chemistry & research","volume":"84 1","pages":"1-4"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"77199382","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Therefore, development of technologies that allow the removal of toxic pollutants from wastewater is a need. Among all the common heavy metals treatment processes, biosorption is one of the more popular and efficient processes. The important number of publications concerning adsorption and remediation of metal ions from aqueous solution by natural and modified polysaccharides shows an increasing interest in biopolymer uses for environment preservation. The present review describes recent developments on biosorption processes using agricultural by-products, mainly mono- and polysaccharides extracted from natural resources. General considerations on metal ions complexation mechanism and interactions between metals and saccharides are first described. Then, a review on metal ions biosorption processes and recent development of new polysaccharide-based materials is carried out and shows their high adsorption capacities and their attractive character. Finally, advantages and possible limitations of using such biosorbents for metal ions adsorption process are discussed.","PeriodicalId":18897,"journal":{"name":"Natural products chemistry & research","volume":"252 2","pages":"1-17"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"91476538","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The objectives of these studies were to survey the ethnobotanical uses of the three wild Zingiber species used by the local Dusun communities of Tambunan, to extract essential oils from the major Zingiber species and lastly to determine the chemical components in the essential oils and to test it against bacteria. Ethnobotanical uses for these three Zingiber species are as follow, Z. pseudopungens leaves and stem are bitter; Z. viridifalvum sap is drinkable, medicine as anti-venom for snake-bite, pith cooked as soup and whole plant is for decorations and Z. coloratum plant is used as decorations, rhizome boiled made into soup and medicinal to treat diabetes. In this study, the preliminary phytochemical screening in both polar extract of ethanol and non-polar extract of n-hexane showed the presence of major secondary metabolites in these 3 types of studied Zingiber spp. GC-MS profiling gave the composition of few major compounds. Moreover, antibacterial assays of these oils had demonstrated that the Gram-positive bacteria in this study were more sensitive to the Zingiber spp. samples compared to the Gram-negative bacteria.","PeriodicalId":18897,"journal":{"name":"Natural products chemistry & research","volume":"9 1","pages":"1-19"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"89396366","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One new glycocereboside, Rauvocerebroside (1) with six other known compounds,; 11-methoxy-19-epiajmalicine (2), 19-epiajmalicine (3), Sucrose (4), Butulinic acid (6) and Lupeol (7) were isolated. Their structural elucidation was done using 1D and 2D NMR, IR and MS spectroscopy data together with published reviews. Analyses of the cytotoxicity of compounds (1), (2) and (3) displayed good activity of (1) on THP-1 (IC50 20.70 μM) and Raw 264.7 (IC50 26.34 μM) cancer cell lines. Compounds (2) and (3), showed moderate activity on THP-1 cells (IC50 43.23 μM for (2) and 34.25 μM for (3) and a low activity on Raw 264.7 cells. These results suggest that compounds (1), (2) and (3) could be potential anticancer agent.","PeriodicalId":18897,"journal":{"name":"Natural products chemistry & research","volume":"30 1","pages":"1-5"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"72788857","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
