With the fast development of the Chinese economy and more and more attentions being paid to this emerging country, China is facing the problem of figuring out their role in the global economy. So far, the reasonably agreed upon strategy has been to apply the plan of being peaceful at first and then became more aggressive when China is preparing to compete with America.","PeriodicalId":188294,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of New Developments in Engineering and Society","volume":"69 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-04-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126420735","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The article aim to answer the question: Why, John Rabe, stood as the opposite of Japan—German’s ally, risked his life to save those Chinese? Through reading and analyzing Rabe’s diaries, we may conclude that there are several explanations which related to his political position, life experience in China, love of Chinese culture, and personal ties for the question. War is a game of inhumanity, cruelty and indifference. Even in these dark times, there is a humanist who maintains his reverence for life and his cultural zeal, and who stands firm at the point of a gun, even at the cost of risking his life.","PeriodicalId":188294,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of New Developments in Engineering and Society","volume":"47 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-04-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127218744","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The co-operative has two main advantages: centralised production and service provision that drive up the profitability and competitiveness of the production. However, the growth of co-operatives is obstructed by numerous barriers, namely, lack of funds and lack of collaboration. Targeting these two defects, this paper proposes two policy recommendations: first, direct government service provision and financial aid to expand co-operative service range and basic equipment; second, promote a shareholder based co-operative model to enhance the interest linkage between farmer members, thus reducing the transaction costs of production.","PeriodicalId":188294,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of New Developments in Engineering and Society","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-04-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133782834","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We reported on a simple process of language learning on Wenjuanxing, an online survey instrument with over 80 million active users for data collection. Some beginning learners use unsystematic ways to learn L2, which are not recommended. In a between-subjects design, 78 high school students (aged 15 to 18) with 36 males and 42 females were randomly assigned into three groups: no L1 translation, L1 translation before, L1 translation after. They learnt 12 Spanish words through a tutorial video and then completed a vocab test to examine their short-term language acquisition. After 24 hours, another similar vocab test was given to examine their long-term language acquisition. The results revealed a noticeable difference in long-term memory between with and without L1 translation, providing a route for L2 vocabulary learners to follow in the online environment.","PeriodicalId":188294,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of New Developments in Engineering and Society","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-04-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123895568","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is worth noting that even though there is such an amount of mental patients, people still show deep-rooted stigma toward those with mental disorders. To find out the specific causes of discrimination, an unexplored factor - the illusion of explanatory depth (IEOD) - is one possible factors. IOED reflects a mismatch between understanding and belief. People perceive their understanding to be greater than it is. In this paper, we examined whether IOED is one of the causes of stigma toward people with depression and whether exposing IOED is a way to moderate the discrimination. An online survey with different tasks (explaining the symptoms and causes of depression VS. reading a paragraph describing symptoms and causes of the depression) were conducted on two groups of participants to measure the changes in their understanding and discrimination level both before and after exposing the IOED. The result was assessed using a two-way mixed ANOVA test and it demonstrates that IOED is present in people’s understanding of depression but not discrimination toward the illness.","PeriodicalId":188294,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of New Developments in Engineering and Society","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-04-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115384937","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

I argue on the status of Canon, origins of imperfect animals, gender preference, and the bodily presence of angels. This essay will focus on the trade of ancient China and the Silk road to discuss which factor has an important influence on the trade and explain the background and reasons. When ancient China was in strong period, like the early period of Tang dynasty (China at that time was one of the most powerful countries among the world), Chinese government had more trade dominance as they didn’t necessarily rely on the goods of foreign merchants. However, with the decline of Chinese power, its trade dominance decrease at the same time and the government gradually lost its control of the Silk Road. Consequently, Chinese government began to develop other trade routes-- the Maritime Silk Road.","PeriodicalId":188294,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of New Developments in Engineering and Society","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-04-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122970247","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this report, we design and carry out rigorous statistics-based analysis to investigate the possible hiring bias based on status quo. Through providing definitions of the key factors of status quo and describing the proposed steps for our studies, we identify that the personality of the previous employees has the greatest influence on hiring new employees, followed by appearance, gender, region and educational background.","PeriodicalId":188294,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of New Developments in Engineering and Society","volume":"116 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-04-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121709185","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The conceptual framework of the paper is based on Jones and Klenow (2016). The welfare numbers of 2007 are updated and work out the welfare results of 2017. After analyzing the results, it can be found that during the period, the growth in GDP per capita is often the driving reason for the rise in the level of welfare.
