In this paper, we propose a method based on positive and negative energy distribution and combine the LK optical flow method to achieve effective moving objects detection. Using series frames obtain the positive and negative energy distribution. The Gaussian kernel density function is used to estimate the density of the energy distribution histogram of the second frame. When the kernel density is smaller than the threshold value, it is considered to be the background movement with smaller energy. While the kernel density is larger than the threshold value, it is considered to be the moving objects with larger energy. Experimental results demonstrate that the method effectively detect the moving target in the dynamic background.","PeriodicalId":187213,"journal":{"name":"2017 IEEE International Conference on Imaging Systems and Techniques (IST)","volume":"44 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133904958","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This work proposes a deep convolutional neural network based pipeline for the diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease and its stages using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans. Alzheimer's disease causes permanent damage to the brain cells associated with memory and thinking skills. The diagnosis of Alzheimer's in elderly people is quite difficult and requires a highly discriminative feature representation for classification due to similar brain patterns and pixel intensities. Deep learning techniques are capable of learning such representations from data. In this paper, a 4-way classifier is implemented to classify Alzheimer's (AD), mild cognitive impairment (MCI), late mild cognitive impairment (LMCI) and healthy persons. Experiments are performed using ADNI dataset on a high performance graphical processing unit based system and new state-of-the-art results are obtained for multiclass classification of the disease. The proposed technique results in a prediction accuracy of 98.8%, which is a noticeable increase in accuracy as compared to the previous studies and clearly reveals the effectiveness of the proposed method.","PeriodicalId":187213,"journal":{"name":"2017 IEEE International Conference on Imaging Systems and Techniques (IST)","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132132665","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Based on the obtained high resolution images, the detection and extraction of the components on the catenary support devices are the vital steps prior to their defect report. Inspired by the existing object detection Faster R-CNN framework, a cascaded convolutional neural network (CNN) architecture is built to successively detect the various components and the tiny fasteners in the complex catenary support device structures. Meanwhile, some missing states of the fasteners on the cantilever joints are directly reported via our proposed architecture. Traditional B-mode ultrasound imaging exhibits the amplitude of the scattered ultrasonic signals as brightness of the images, neglecting rich information delivered by the frequency modulation of the signals. The frequency variation in the spectrum contains nonlinear vibrations which are specific for given tissues. We hypothesize that detailed analysis and characterization of the spectrum enable the software to recognize the signals from different organs or from diseased regions. Wavelet transform was utilized to exhibit the ultrasonic signal in both time and frequency domain, followed by the principal component analysis which extracted the feature of the frequency. This analysis holds the potential of intelligent diagnosis by ultrasound imaging.","PeriodicalId":187213,"journal":{"name":"2017 IEEE International Conference on Imaging Systems and Techniques (IST)","volume":"75 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132701370","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The gas concentration can be calculated by integration of the measured absorption line. But the absorption signals often get distorted by noise, which reduces spectral signal-to-noise ratio(SNR). By applying Gabor filtering method to simulated absorption spectral signal, signal-to-noise ratios have been significantly improved, which is of great importance for gas concentration determination precision and stability. Taking the CO absorption signal near 6380.3cm−1 as an example, the results show that Gabor filtering method is a very useful de-noising tool for spectral noise reduction.","PeriodicalId":187213,"journal":{"name":"2017 IEEE International Conference on Imaging Systems and Techniques (IST)","volume":"48 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122082349","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It can provide three modalities: sound speed image, attenuation image, and reflection image. The reflection image can have high-resolution, but it always be reconstructed using a pre-determined sound speed based on homogeneous assumption, and the mismatch between the pre-determined speed and real speeds of inhomogeneous tissue could result in phase aberration and degrade the image quality and resolution. In this article, we proposed and evaluated to correct phase aberration by bent-ray tracing method using sound speed image of USCT. First, sound speed image of USCT was reconstructed by first arrival picking method, bent-ray tracing method and Simultaneous Algebraic Reconstruction Technique (SART). Second, the propagation time from each element to each pixel of image was calculated by bent-ray tracing method using the sound speed image. Third, scatter-signal-delay-time was calculated and reflection image is reconstructed by using Synthetic Aperture (SA) method. For evaluation, both simulation and experiment validation were conducted. With regard to the simulation, the homogeneous point scatter simulation showed that the phase aberration might increase diameter of point-spread function (PSF) from approximate 1 to 5 mm; the complex-breast-model simulation demonstrated that the proposed method could correct phase aberration and decrease diameter of PSF from about 2 to 1 mm. With regard to the experiment, the results demonstrated that the proposed method could correct phase aberration and improve the image quality of breast phantom.","PeriodicalId":187213,"journal":{"name":"2017 IEEE International Conference on Imaging Systems and Techniques (IST)","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122359744","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

With the rapid growing number of images, fast speed in shape matching is necessary, but most methods focus on the retrieval accuracy. In this article, we propose a dynamic angular partition descriptor (DAPD) based on the statistical distribution of the shape contour points, which is scale invariant inherently. DAPD has low computational complexity which enables fast shape matching, and naturally sacrifices a little accuracy in retrieval. However, we leverage the angle sensitivity in the structure of DAPD, which can compensate the loss in accuracy by 4.46% on average. Experiments on several shape databases show that, our descriptor can speed up shape matching by up to 13X, but still retains 91.92% accuracy in the top-4 similar shapes in retrieval tests. Meanwhile, we generate some distorted shapes to verify the robustness of DAPD against rotation and noise.","PeriodicalId":187213,"journal":{"name":"2017 IEEE International Conference on Imaging Systems and Techniques (IST)","volume":"123 3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124935826","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
