This paper shows that a thinned receive array can be synthesized in order to place nulls of the receive pattern in the directions of the peak sidelobes of the transmit pattern to get even lower two-way maximum sidelobe levels. The two-way pattern is synthesized using a genetic algorithm to find a thinned receive aperture that minimizes the maximum two-way sidelobe level with a uniform transmit array.","PeriodicalId":187176,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Conference on Radar (RADAR)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130114882","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Apart from small boats entering into the territorial waters, Unmanned Aviation Vehicles over land and sea that are involved in EW assignments and also submarine periscopes are targets of interest. Such targets have weak reflected/scattered power, masked by strong correlated sea clutter and ground clutter returns. Extracting such weaker and unstable target returns requires efficient, reliable and robust Target detection methods and techniques. One of the detection methods viz Scan to Scan integration and their enhancement, exploiting the decorrelation properties of sea clutter over several antenna scans, will be analysed in this paper, with appropriate illustrations.","PeriodicalId":187176,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Conference on Radar (RADAR)","volume":"38 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127571320","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One component represents Bragg scattering from capillary waves, modulated in both frequency and intensity by gravity waves, and the other fast scattering from breaking waves. The intensity of each component is represented by an independent gamma variate with its own scale and shape parameter, with the overall texture distributed as the sum of these two gamma variates. The model is compared to data collected at medium grazing angles with the DST Ingara airborne X-band radar. It is able to explain many of the distinctive features of coherent radar sea clutter.","PeriodicalId":187176,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Conference on Radar (RADAR)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121201742","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Thus, the staggered pulse repetition frequencies (PRFs) is proposed to extend the unambiguous range or Doppler coverage. However, there are various disadvantages in pulse-to-pulse stagger or block-to-block stagger. In this paper, inspired by the Doppler compensation processing, we propose a modified range-Doppler (RD) processing method. Moreover, a waveform design scheme matching this method is also presented. The modified RD processing associated with the designed waveform can effectively extend the unambiguous Doppler coverage without affecting the unambiguous range. Experimental evidence verified the effectiveness of the modified RD processing method and the designed waveform.","PeriodicalId":187176,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Conference on Radar (RADAR)","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124556712","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In practice, once the direction of the ECM device is located, it makes sense to form a notch at the transmit beampattern in the direction. Current transmit beampattern notching techniques for colocated Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) radar mainly use waveform optimization methods, which however has a huge computation cost. In this paper, we propose an online MIMO transmit beampattern notching method that is formulated as a linear programming problem and then can support online implementation for its low computation cost. The basic concept is to slightly vibrate the phases of a group of MIMO waveforms optimized offline for certain purpose such that transmit beampattern notching would not spoil too much properties of original waveforms. Numerical results indicate that for an omnidirectional MIMO transmit beampattern formed with 4 transmit waveforms each with 128 codes, this method can form a −22dB transmit beampattern notch, whereas the peak sidelobe level grows merely 1.25dB.","PeriodicalId":187176,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Conference on Radar (RADAR)","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115520186","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The next logical step is to place PCL receivers on moving platforms. Mounting PCL receivers on airborne platforms poses a challenge to the system designer. One issue that has received little attention in the literature is that airborne PCL receivers can be more susceptible to Cochannel Interference (CCI) than ground based PCL systems due to the receiver operating at higher altitudes (no terrain masking), therefore potentially having a line-of-sight (LOS) to the interfering transmitter, and atmospheric propagation. For efficient spectrum usage the carrier frequency for a cluster of Digital Video Broadcasting-Terrestrial (DVB-T) transmitters in one Single-Frequency-Network (SFN) will be reused in a second more distant SFN. The distance between the two SFNs is designed such that the signals from each SFN will not self-interfere for ground based receivers. However for airborne receivers the combination of higher operating altitude, propagation effects, and intentional suppression of the Direct Path Interference (DPI) can result in the broadcast signal from the more distant SFN interfering with the signal from the intended SFN transmitter of opportunity. The interfering signal can be regarded as wideband noise jamming and if unaccounted for it can impede PCL performance quite severely. To investigate the problem of CCI in the case of airborne PCL, we conducted an airborne experiment to utilize DVB-T signals in a SFN.","PeriodicalId":187176,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Conference on Radar (RADAR)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130942316","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, since the dynamics of the missile change with the phase of the trajectory, there is a limit to the tracking with ordinary Kalman filter (KF) which considers single dynamics. Therefore, in this paper, to improve tracking performance, interacting multiple model (IMM) which considers various dynamic models simultaneously is applied. In addition, by classifying the missile head and debris generated at stage separation using the model probability calculated in the IMM, unnecessary detection and tracking resources used to track debris are reduced. The performance of the proposed method is verified through various simulation results and the favorable results are obtained.","PeriodicalId":187176,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Conference on Radar (RADAR)","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131634864","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
