In particular, the MAPIS (Multi-chAnnel Passive ISAR for military application) project funded by EDA (european defence agency) has shown the potential of ISAR imaging using passive radars based on different illuminators of opportunity, [3]. The results of MAPIS ([4]) demonstrated also how the obtained ISAR images can be effectively exploited for target classification and recognition [5] despite the limited range resolution. The main limitation of DVB-S-based radar imaging resides in the need for cueing the system to look in the direction where the target is. This is due to the limited power budget available in the DVB-S case and in the subsequent need for highly directive pencil-beam antennas. In this paper, the idea of passive radar imaging is further developed by proposing a multi-band passive radar system. In the proposed approach, target detection and imaging are considered two different tasks to be performed by two separate sub-systems: namely a cueing sub-system and an imaging one. The cueing subsystem is devoted to target detection, localisation, and mostly important it triggers and cues the subsequent DVB-S sub-system for target imaging. Different potential cueing sub-systems are investigated like other passive radars (based on FM, DVB-T, or other satellite communication signals) or passive emitter tracking (PET). This paper presents the system concept, and it proposes a potential experimental setup based upon hardware available at Fraunhofer FHR.","PeriodicalId":187176,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Conference on Radar (RADAR)","volume":"398 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121003572","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Within the framework of two-stage adaptive detection paradigm, we propose a new two-stage (TS) joint loaded persymmetric- Toeplitz adaptive matched filter (JLPT -AMF) detector. This new detector combines, using a joint detection strategy, individual scalar CFAR decisions from two rapidly adaptive detectors: a TS TAMF detector and a TS LPAMF detector. The former is based on a TMI filter, which is an adaptive array filter employing a Toeplitz covariance matrix estimator introduced in [1]. The latter is based on an adaptive LPMI filter that uses diagonally loaded persymmetric covariance matrix (CM) estimate inversion. The TS JLPT -AMF detector ensures the constant false alarm rate (CFAR) property independently of the antenna array dimension M, the interference CM, and the number of training samples NCME to be used for estimating this CM. This new detector exhibits highly reliable detection performance, which is robust to the angular separation between the sources, even when NCME is about m/2 ~ m, m is the number of interference sources. The robustness of the proposed adaptive detector to the angular separation is analytically proven and verified with statistical simulation.","PeriodicalId":187176,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Conference on Radar (RADAR)","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121361415","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

New expressions for the Doppler centroid and the Doppler rate that take into account the specific features of a geosynchronous orbit are developed. Moreover, a new Ground Moving Target Indication (GMTI) technique was proposed, it makes use of the aforementioned expressions combined with the use of the Non Uniform Cubic Phase Function (NUCPF) algorithm to estimate the moving target motion parameters. Simulation results are carried out to demonstrate the accuracy of the developed expressions and the effectiveness of the proposed GEO SAR GMTI technique.","PeriodicalId":187176,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Conference on Radar (RADAR)","volume":"139 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123597353","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Adaptive filters employing these algorithms are referred to as TMI filters. When the angular separation between the interference sources is not too close to a certain statistical resolution limit (SRL), the convergence rate for TMI filters is superior to that of loaded persymmetric covariance matrix inversion (LPMI) filters and to that of the well-known loaded SMI (LSMI) filters. In terms of the 3dB average SNR loss, for the TMI filters, the required training sample size is about ml2 (m is the number of interference sources), while that for the LPMI and LSMI filters is about $m$ and 2m, respectively. Since the TMI filters may suffer severe SNR degradation when the angular separation between the sources is near the SRL two remedies for dealing with this problem are discussed herein.","PeriodicalId":187176,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Conference on Radar (RADAR)","volume":"135 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123786433","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, the FDA has several problems for signal processing, such as angle and range coupling and Doppler integration, and few papers deal with FDA for moving target. In this paper, we combine the FDA and MIMO technique and propose the concept of space (angle)-range-Doppler (SRD) focus processing, which is a novel solution for moving target integration and estimation. It utilizes the property of FDA and high-resolution Doppler processing of MIMO. Based on the data model of FDA-MIMO radar, we provide a practical method for SRD processing via A&D joint estimation and sparse time-frequency distribution (STFD). Both theoretical and numerical simulation results verify that proposed method has better ability for joint range-angle-Doppler processing, which can be used for low-observable moving target detection and estimation under complex environment","PeriodicalId":187176,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Conference on Radar (RADAR)","volume":"75 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122777529","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We proposed a passive bistatic radar using DTTB signal delay in a previous work. During further study, we found that the system could detect signal delays from moving aircraft. The coverage area of the proposed system was also confirmed by comparing with ADS-B. Thereafter, we expanded the bistatic radar system to a multiple-receiver system, in order to realize MSPSR configuration. In this paper, a surveillance system using two receivers is introduced. First, the basic principle of the MSPSR system using DTTB signal delays is reviewed. Then, a preliminary experiment performed in the Tokyo bay area is presented. Results show that the delayed signals caused by moving aircraft can be detected at the two receivers at the same time. Finally the positional estimation using two receivers is discussed.","PeriodicalId":187176,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Conference on Radar (RADAR)","volume":"35 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114489888","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The aim of the trial was to compare experimental results with DMPAR (Deployable Multiband Passive-Active Radar) simulations. Although DMPAR has been devised as collocated receiver system, trials were planned with collocated as well as distributed receiver configurations. Received data has shown that distributed configuration can and will fill in the gaps in the radar coverage created by terrain shadowing or multipath propagation. Also, the overall score in terms of Track Visibility (TV) and Probability of detection (Pd) have been improved in the collocated configuration. Results of the trials have confirmed operational properties of passive-active sensor proposed by SET-195. In this paper a short introduction summing up SET-152 and SET-195 work will be presented. Next, received results of collocated and distributed DMPAR will be shown, analyzed, compared and commented. Now, using those results one can analyze and project on operational characteristics of a distributed DMPAR.","PeriodicalId":187176,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Conference on Radar (RADAR)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116730099","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

EKF SLAM can improve the accuracy of the radar position estimation more than when using measurement from odometer only, and more accurate grid map can be formed because the radar position is used to form the grid map. However, applying the existing EKF SLAM technique can not guarantee real-time performance due to the large amount of computation. The proposed algorithm reduces the computational complexity by thresholding for landmark recognition and adaptively changing the length of the state vector properly. We also introduce a mode switching control for autonomous processing and feedback control for compensating cumulative commanding errors. To verify practicality, we use scattering points of a car generated by scattering points extraction method using orthogonal matching pursuit (OMP) from a car model in simulation.","PeriodicalId":187176,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Conference on Radar (RADAR)","volume":"3 27","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"113963275","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
