Given such fully coherent system it is possible to conduct beamforming after digitizing in different directions for transmission and reception. In the case of multipath reflections the transmit beam points to another direction than the receive beam. Multi-bounce reflections exhibit detailed information, allowing for instance to look behind a corner or add the ability to extract motion vectors of a target instead of only scalars. First of all this requires the detection of the multi-bounce reflections before they can be exploited. The presented technique in this paper is called SSAP (space-space adaptive processing).","PeriodicalId":187176,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Conference on Radar (RADAR)","volume":"86 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134109374","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Of the many aspects of sea-clutter, the Doppler spectrum plays a key role in determining the statistics which are important for coherent processing. In this paper, the evolving Doppler spectrum model and the spatially and temporal limited clutter model are described and analysed. Simulated data is generated using both models with parameters estimated from the Ingara medium grazing angle sea clutter data set. This allows a comprehensive study of the strengths and weaknesses of each model over a range of polarisations and swell angles.","PeriodicalId":187176,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Conference on Radar (RADAR)","volume":"241 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115832722","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Therefore, compound-Gaussian model with spatially-varying texture is introduced to characterize large-scene sea clutter. However, existing methods of sea clutter parameter estimation, including moment-based, maximum likelihood and explicit bipercentile estimators, lose their estimation efficiencies with the SSS problem. In this study, a multiscan recursive Bayesian (MRSB) method is proposed to deal with the estimation problem of spatially-varying sea clutter parameters. This method is constructed by transforming scanning data in frames to the prior information of parameters in order to cover the shortage of sample number. The MRSB method not only improves the parameter estimation property of spatially-varying sea clutter due to the performance assessment with clutter data, but also starts a new mode of radar, that is, radar remembers all information and no data.","PeriodicalId":187176,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Conference on Radar (RADAR)","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125263948","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Over the years, studies into human echo location have explored vibrant disciplines, including the engineering perspective. The studies have been continuous and report on the human echo locator waveforms, which are individually unique, with the existence of multiple frequency components. However, possible explanations as to how blind people detect their own pair of transmitted and echo signals still remain vague. The detection process using the conventional matched filter has led to poor performance probably because the waveform consists of multiple frequency components. It was reported in a recent analysis that an ideal scheme for the detection of a human echo locator waveform click is possibly through the adoption of bio-inspired processing. Therefore, a similar detection mechanism based on a bio-inspired method incorporated with a gammatone filter was proposed in this paper for the transmitted-echo signal pair. The optimal detection output led to an ideal method for the detection of human echolocator signals. Furthermore, the need for alternative signal processing approaches for future man-made sensor systems has placed a demand on researchers to explore the perspectives in new fields of study. As such, the positive results explored in this paper can be beneficial for emerging concepts in new developments in the application of radar and sonar systems in the near future.","PeriodicalId":187176,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Conference on Radar (RADAR)","volume":"94 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132097686","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This system consists of a down-converter based on a fundamental mixer with a phase-locked loop-Gunn oscillator and a mixed domain oscilloscope or a digital oscilloscope. This system can evaluate an FMCW signal in the time domain, which includes the evaluation of the chirp rate, chirp width, chirp length, and linearity. By employing the Gunn oscillator, the down-converter attains a very simple configuration. The down-converter has a conversion gain of 7.8 dB at 79 GHz in typical conditions and a bandwidth of 4 GHz. In this study, we explain the development of the radar test system and demonstrate the same using an FMCW chipset evaluation board.","PeriodicalId":187176,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Conference on Radar (RADAR)","volume":"50 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132989165","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This has been of much interest in the radar research community in recent years. This poses a significant threat to the air traffic control operations and related safety aspects of civil and military aircraft. As part of an ongoing development of mitigation techniques worldwide against this interference we present a novel technique based on compressive sensing signal processing and the use of a tilted-wire scatterer model in the formation of a dictionary. We demonstrate with real data that mitigation of windfarm interference can be achieved without compromising components from targets of interest.","PeriodicalId":187176,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Conference on Radar (RADAR)","volume":"275 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115289053","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This new-formed NLA could exactly achieve a large hole-free range in its fourth-order difference co-array. By establishing the relationship between the second-order NLAs and the fourth-order NLAs, closed-form expressions for the physical sensor locations and the corresponding virtual sensor configurations are specifically derived. Compared to the prior proposed structure, the new structure could effectively increase the virtual aperture, therefore, having the ability to detect more sources. By considering direction of arrival (DOA) estimation for quasi-stationary (QS) signals, numerical simulation results validate the effectiveness of the proposed array structure.","PeriodicalId":187176,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Conference on Radar (RADAR)","volume":"141 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121889647","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, what left behind is how the FDA data should be correctly, efficiently and systematically processed to maximise its full potential and capacity of search and detection. This paper fills the gap. It shows that overall the processing of the FDA data is even simpler and faster than the processing of the conventional phased-array (CPA) radar to complete wide-area search and detection without a need of electronic scan and repeat pulse transmission and reception. The ambiguous range is resolved without using multiple pulse repetition frequencies (PRFs). This not only greatly simplifies the radar's design and operation but also makes radar quieter and stealth.","PeriodicalId":187176,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Conference on Radar (RADAR)","volume":"49 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123706223","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
