The proposed method is based on a predictor/corrector scheme to obtain CEPs in succession. The condition for Q-limit immediate instability is derived and used in the algorithm, where the stability of the obtained CEP is checked in each iteration. The point of collapse method is also combined in the algorithm to detect a saddle node bifurcation. The effectiveness of the proposed method is demonstrated through numerical examinations in IEEE 118 bus systems.","PeriodicalId":185817,"journal":{"name":"The 2004 47th Midwest Symposium on Circuits and Systems, 2004. The circuit uses modified Wilson current-mirror to perform a current subtraction. Negative feedback is employed to reduce input impedances of the circuit. The diode connected transistors of the same type (NMOS) are used at the output making the circuit immune to the process variation. HSPICE is used to verify the circuit performance and the results show the propagation delay of 1.67 nsec with an average power dissipation of 0.63 mW using a standard 0.5 /spl mu/m CMOS technology for an input current of /spl plusmn/0.1 /spl mu/A at the supply voltage of 3 V. The input impedances of the proposed current comparator are 123 /spl Omega/ and 126 /spl Omega/ while the maximum output voltage variation is only 1.9%.","PeriodicalId":185817,"journal":{"name":"The 2004 47th Midwest Symposium on Circuits and Systems, 2004. Because the decoder is based on complex sphere decoding, it can be applied to STBC decoding of any modulation constellation. In the decoder, we give a method for obtaining an initial decoding solution and the initial sphere radius from the initial decoding solution, the obtained initial radius is relatively small. During the process of decoding, we define a metric for sorting all elements in the candidate symbol set of each component and the elements are searched in the sequence, which speeds up the shrinkage of the sphere and reduces the decoding average computational complexity. Simulation results verify the efficiency of the decoder.","PeriodicalId":185817,"journal":{"name":"The 2004 47th Midwest Symposium on Circuits and Systems, 2004. The proposed algorithm is based on the powerfulness of differential chain code, which is well-known for its simplicity and high coding efficiency. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm has an excellent coding efficiency.","PeriodicalId":185817,"journal":{"name":"The 2004 47th Midwest Symposium on Circuits and Systems, 2004. We obtained parameter regions of homoclinic points in the PLL equation in our previous papers. It is well-known that if a system has homoclinic points, flows of the system present chaotic behavior at least in its transient state. We confirm this fact concretely by drawing initial condition planes for various parameter values with and without homoclinic points. As a result, it is found that for parameters without homoclinic points, the basin boundary of each attractor is smooth, however for those with homoclinic points it is more or less fractal. Further, for initial conditions chosen in fractal regions flows present chaotic transient behavior before settling in an attractor.","PeriodicalId":185817,"journal":{"name":"The 2004 47th Midwest Symposium on Circuits and Systems, 2004. There are four active switches with voltage stress of dc bus voltage and two ac switches with voltage stress of half the dc side voltage in the proposed rectifier.
