With the increase of global terrorist invasions, levels of national internal border security need to be increased. Thus, the need to deploy technologies such as biometric for further fortification cannot be underrated. Research has shown that biometrics technology - as an authentication technique has a broad-spectrum application in fields ranging from banking, medicine, airlines and so on. Unlike the conventional means of security checks, which basically entail physical/manual verification. Biometric techniques such as Face recognition, Fingerprint, DNA are more reliable and capable of uniquely identifying individuals in the verification process. The porous nature of the nation's border enables unauthorized immigrants gain access to the country which poses a high level of security threat. In this paper, a biometric based border control system is developed to reduce the rate of illegal immigrants into the country. C# programming language was employed to implement the proposed biometric based border control system. The various stages of biometric authentication were incorporated. The proposed system is recommended for controlling illegal immigrants at the Nigerian border.","PeriodicalId":185729,"journal":{"name":"2023 International Conference on Science, Engineering and Business for Sustainable Development Goals (SEB-SDG)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-04-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129264784","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Conversational programming is the most crucial part of the development of a chatbot. Existing chatbots are based on simple rule-based techniques. They are therefore limited in terms of functionality, context, and coherence, with narrow domains. Some of these systems also lack flexibility and do not emulate actual human conversation. The available chatbots use machine learning algorithms to answer questions and have structured conversations. However, they lack flexibility and do not emulate actual human conversation. The study proposes a chatbot that will help users self-diagnose symptoms related to COVID-19. Even today, the creation of a good chatbot model remains a significant challenge in Natural Language Processing (NLP) using Machine Learning (ML). This study suggests a newly developed method of creating a chatbot by using deep learning: The Recurrent Neural Network (RNN) will be used to model sequence data since it is modeled after the functionality of the human brain. Based on the classification of the available response classes, this study outputs both the chatbot response and the probability value. The system achieves a response time of 0.3 seconds and an accuracy of 95.35%. The study suggests a newly developed method of creating a chatbot by using deep learning with multiple processing layers, the deep learning approach provides better learning for chatbots to make intelligent decisions. Deep learning-based NLP chatbots result in better text classification accuracy with the ability to understand sarcasm, humor, and conversations better.","PeriodicalId":185729,"journal":{"name":"2023 International Conference on Science, Engineering and Business for Sustainable Development Goals (SEB-SDG)","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-04-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129535165","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Neem seed protein isolate (NSPI) was enzymatically hydrolyzed using pepsin, pancreatin, and trypsin. Oxidative hepatic injury (OHI) was induced using 0.1 mM FeSO4. Treatment was carried out through co-incubation of the oxidative hepatic tissues with NSPI and its hydrolysates. The tissues were analyzed for glutathione (GSH), nitric oxide (NO) and malondialdehyde (MDA) levels as well as catalase (CAT), superoxide (SOD) and acetylcholinesterase (AChE) activities. The pepsin hydrolysate (PNSPH) had a higher degree of hydrolysis (DH) and peptide yield compared to pancreatin and trypsin. The PNSPH had a more potent 2,2-diphenylpicrylhydrazyl (DPPH) and SOD scavenging activities than the other protein hydrolysates, whereas, it had a weak ferric reducing power (FRAP). The $boldsymbol{2,2}^{prime}-mathbf{azino-bis}$ (3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) (ABTS) scavenging activity of the pepsin, pancreatin, and trypsin hydrolysates were not significantly different from each other. Induction of OHI significantly $(mathbf{p} < boldsymbol{0.05})$ reduced GSH concentration, CAT, and SOD activities whereas the levels/activities of MDA, NO, and AChE increased. Treatment with NSPI and its hydrolysates with varying capacities, significantly reversed these levels/activities. The results implies that neem seed protein hydrolysates possess antioxidant activities and ameliorative effects against iron-induced oxidative hepatic injury by modulating oxidative imbalance and cholinergic activity. Hence, neem seed protein hydrolysates may be a potential nutraceutical in the control of oxidative stress and its related complications.","PeriodicalId":185729,"journal":{"name":"2023 International Conference on Science, Engineering and Business for Sustainable Development Goals (SEB-SDG)","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-04-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131593688","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Most previous pricing model by LoRaWAN operators does not take into cognizance the different latency and QoS requirement of the applications running on their network. In this work we propose a model that uses the spreading factor allocation motivated by the priority level requested for by each node during the profiling of the node on the network. This was achieved by using a novel spreading factor allocating algorithm. Our result shows that the developed spreading factor allocating algorithm was able to assign optimal transmitting parameter to each node based on their priority level. We also show that by using our model, LoRaWAN operators can make about 21.6 percent more profit. Our model also ensures a fair usage policy among all users by ensuring that the quality of service of the network is not compromised.","PeriodicalId":185729,"journal":{"name":"2023 International Conference on Science, Engineering and Business for Sustainable Development Goals (SEB-SDG)","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-04-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121335220","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The use of reactive power support for minimization of loss on the radial feeder and also enhancement of the system voltage profile has proven to be beneficiary in releasing the feeder capacity and enhancing the performance of the network under light and heavy load conditions. Premise on this, this work proposed the utilization of shunt capacitors as reactive power support using Thinker's corner 34-bus radial feeder as a test case system. The backward forward stroke was used for load flow, the voltage stability index was used for the pre-selection of vulnerable buses susceptible to voltage collapse while the Cuckoo search algorithm was engaged as an optimization algorithm for selecting the best sites and sizes where the inclusion of the reactive support will be most beneficiary to the system. The optimal sites selected are buses 30, 27, and 24 while the optimum size of shunt capacitors placed at these locations are 1000, 200, and 58.04 kVAr respectively. The inclusion of shunt capacitors appreciably dropped the active power loss (kW) to 22.46% which implies that the base case loss enjoys a reduction from 245.41 to 190.28 kW. Also, the bus where the least voltage magnitude was observed experienced a substantial increment from 0.9361 to 0.9435 p.u which is equivalent to 0.79% enhancement. Similarly, system stability was found to improve judging from VSI value shortly after the incorporation of reactive power support. The techniques implemented in this work can effectively strengthen the network performance appreciably.","PeriodicalId":185729,"journal":{"name":"2023 International Conference on Science, Engineering and Business for Sustainable Development Goals (SEB-SDG)","volume":"166 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-04-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121464090","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, insufficient server resources and network bandwidth can lead to inefficient usage when the majority of the prefetched web pages are not visited during subsequent visits. To address this issue, accurate prediction during prefetching is crucial. Existing research has shown that usage data and user navigation can be tracked using methods like Markov models to predict the most popular web paths, leading to more accurate classification and prefetching of web pages. However, accurately classifying web pages remains a challenging task due to the uncontrolled nature of web content, and the need to classify hypertext that is linked through HTML tags and URLs. This study presents several methods to improve the accuracy of machine learning algorithms for classifying web pages. By combining different results, we show how our approach can enable increase in the performance of classification of web page and prefetching. Our findings can lead to the development of more efficient and accurate webpage classification and prefetching algorithms, resulting in reduced internet access latency, which is of great relevance to internet users and providers alike.","PeriodicalId":185729,"journal":{"name":"2023 International Conference on Science, Engineering and Business for Sustainable Development Goals (SEB-SDG)","volume":"45 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-04-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127767496","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A 3-D numerical model of the human intestine was derived using Autodesk Inventor 2017 and simulated using ANSYS FLUENT 16.0. Thyme and produced Ogi, Soymilk and Sobo are considered working fluids. The density and viscosity of the produced fluid were determined experimentally, while the density and viscosity of the digester were obtained from previous work. The results of the experiments carried out showed that the densities of the produced fluid supplements were; 1024 $kg/m^{3},920kg/m^{3}$ and 800 $kg/m^{3}$ for Ogi, soybean milk and sobo respectively; their equivalent viscosities were; 1.095 $Pa.s, 0.95$ Pa.s, and 0.316 $Pa.s$. From the results, it can be seen that the velocity behaviour of the four fluids is similar, as is the thermal behaviour. The results also showed that at inlet velocity of 0.005 $m/s, Ogi$ had the largest pressure change of 25 $Pa$ and a heat transfer of $Nu=9$, while sobo had the smallest heat transfer of $Nu=9$ among the three fluid supplements produced. $Nu=5$.","PeriodicalId":185729,"journal":{"name":"2023 International Conference on Science, Engineering and Business for Sustainable Development Goals (SEB-SDG)","volume":"392 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-04-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127591203","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The data was first subjected to heteroskedasticity test, and it was concluded that there is existence of heteroskedasticity in the data for the study. The result of fitting an Ordinary Least Square (OLS) regression as well as the result from the QR shows that the estimated coefficient for the gestation positive and has significant impact of this variable on birth weight. The multiple regression model of four explanatory variables, viz: Mother age, Parity, Gestation and maternal height and the response variable (Baby Weight) was first fitted with the coefficient of determination of 65.58%. The test on the significance of the parameters for the multiple regression revealed that all the predictor variables are significant at 5% level of significance, except parity. This means that gestation, mother's age, and maternal height contributed significantly to the baby weight.","PeriodicalId":185729,"journal":{"name":"2023 International Conference on Science, Engineering and Business for Sustainable Development Goals (SEB-SDG)","volume":"42 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-04-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132765054","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To lower the death rate, rescue workers must provide these injured people with assistance as soon as they can. In search and rescue (SAR) operations, distance estimation, position determination, and classification criteria are all equally crucial, the accuracy of each would be impacted by a decrease in the other. Rescue crews have used a variety of methods and approaches to anticipate and find victims in unsafe, collapsed building structures. Classification algorithms have shown a dynamic capacity to acquire key dataset properties by utilizing just a few sample sets, thanks to the recent development of machine learning methods. The detection of a human target's state behind a wall in diverse samples is the main topic of this work. Here, SVM, KNN, and Ensemble algorithms are selected in the machine learning model to categorize and recognize human targets behind walls. The classification algorithms can derive clear data-feature representations by automatically learning about the dataset's innate characteristics. The performance of the classifier was used to extract more effective feature representations. The classification and identification of the behind-the-wall human-target states were separately carried out, and then the results were compared with those of other classification algorithms. The outcome demonstrates that the use of KNN with 85% accuracy outperforms other classifiers (SVM 81% and Ensemble 81%) and is more effective for the prediction of human targets behind walls. This work may help with human identification during search and rescue efforts after a disaster.","PeriodicalId":185729,"journal":{"name":"2023 International Conference on Science, Engineering and Business for Sustainable Development Goals (SEB-SDG)","volume":"158 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-04-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132300864","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
