GERD not only impairs health and quality of life, but also causes serious financial losses in the working population. In this study, our aim is to determine the frequency of gastroesophageal reflux disease among female healthcare professionals of childbearing age in our region. Questions were asked about demographic data such as weight, age, height, BMI, medical history, and gastroesophageal reflux of female healthcare workers, whose data were generated by us. The answers to the questionnaires were collected and evaluated retrospective. All participants in the study were women. This study was carried out on 1224 female healthcare workers of reproductive age working in Malatya Turgut Özal University training and research hospital. Approximately 1150 of the employees who were distributed questionnaires filled out the questionnaires. The mean age of the female healthcare workers of childbearing age was 30.01±5.38 years, between 19-50. The mean height of the healthcare workers was 1.64±7.8 meters, the average weight was 68.05±13.2 kg, and their body mass index (BMI) was 27.4±3.6 kg/m². The frequency of GERD in the study group was found to be positive in 24%. 38.5% of the healthcare workers had previously gone to the doctor with complaints of pyrosis and/or regurgitation. A significant relationship was found between GERD and stress, fizzy drinks, lying down after meals, and family history of GERD. There was no significant relationship between the smoking and coffee use and age of the participants in the study in terms of the presence of GERD.We think that gastroesophageal reflux symptoms are common due to stress, unbalanced diet, irregular sleep and lifestyle habits due to the COVID pandemic in the last two years due to the fact that the participants in the study were healthcare professionals. Among our healthcare professionals, both pyrosis and other GERD symptoms were found to be higher than some of the previous studies, similar to those in our country. We think that the reason for this is that the extremely stressful work of health workers in the last 2 years has contributed to this. As it is known, health workers have worked very hard in the last 2 years, they did not even use their annual leaves, even those who wanted to retire could not retire. We think that this stress environment may also contribute to GERD symptoms.","PeriodicalId":18541,"journal":{"name":"Medicine Science | International Medical Journal","volume":"220 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"73784374","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

ISO+IVA (10 mg/kg) group (n=12): 10 mg/kg IVA was administered for 4 days in addition to ISO. Thereafter, hemodynamic, histopathological, and biochemical studies were performed. In the ISO+IVA (1 mg/kg) and ISO+IVA (10 mg/kg) groups, ISO-induced myocardial changes including an increase in density of granulation tissue and degenerated cardiomyocyte were equally decreased. HR was mildly reduced, and arterial blood pressures were slightly increased in the IVA-treated groups versus the ISO group. In the hearts of IVA-treated groups, malondialdehyde (MDA) levels were significantly reduced and glutathione (GSH) level and catalase (CAT) activity were mildly increased compared to the ISO group. Elevation of GSH and CAT activity were more pronounced in the ISO+IVA (10 mg/kg) group. Our results indicate that both 1 mg/kg and 10 mg/kg doses of IVA are effective against heart damage induced by ISO via its negative chronotropic, anti-oxidant (dose-dependent), anti-inflammatory and anti-degenerative properties.","PeriodicalId":18541,"journal":{"name":"Medicine Science | International Medical Journal","volume":"46 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"72581370","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Demographic information such as age and gender, along with clinical data including whether the procedure was performed with sedation and the patients' tolerance status, were recorded. Statistical analysis revealed no significant difference between the sedation and sedation-free groups in terms of procedural success. Interestingly, a notable cost difference of 43% was observed between the two groups, with the sedation-free group demonstrating higher cost-effectiveness. Despite the nearly 50% higher cost associated with administering sedation, there was no significant disparity in the successful completion of the procedure between the two groups. The findings of this study indicate that sedation-free upper GI endoscopy can achieve comparable success rates to the sedation-assisted approach. Moreover, the cost-effectiveness analysis highlights the economic advantage of the drug-free alternative, given the substantial cost reduction observed in the sedation-free group. The trauma itself leads to the activation of a biomolecular cascade of damage. Purinergic receptors and ATP release play an important role in the activation of astroglia, microglia, monocyte-macrophages, neutrophils, and T cells in this process. The systemic immune inflammation index can be easily calculated, cheap, only requires hemogram parameters, and does not include any subjective findings. Therefore, we believe that it could be a prognostic predictor and a diagnostic marker for pediatric head trauma cases. Our study was designed as a retrospective and single-center study. The study was conducted with pediatric patients who presented to the emergency department with isolated head trauma between June 15, 2022, and December 15, 2022. Demographic data, medical history, white blood count, platelet count, neutrophil count, systemic immune inflammation index (SIII), Glasgow Coma Score, and the presence of pathology on brain computed tomography were recorded on the case report form. The study was conducted with 112 cases. In cases with bleeding, the median value of GCS was significantly lower (p<0.001), while WBC, Neutrophil, Platelet, NLR and SIII were significantly higher (p=0.008, p=0.001, p<0.001, p=0.011, and p<0.001, respectively). There was no significant difference between lymphocyte values and bleeding status. We believe that a higher SIII may be associated with persistent pericontusional inflammation in the brain and may be a good marker for predicting intracranial pathology and prognosis of the pathology caused by head trauma.","PeriodicalId":18541,"journal":{"name":"Medicine Science | International Medical Journal","volume":"368 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"84915933","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Gallbladder duplication is a rare anomaly of the biliary system. Congenital anomalies and anatomical variations of the gallbladder constitute one of the significant difficulties encountered by surgeons since these variations can cause great uncertainty in defining the anatomical structures of the gallbladder and may lead to significant complications during surgery. Congenital malformations are important predisposing factors for iatrogenic bile duct injuries during cholecystectomy. This case report presents a case of symptomatic gallbladder duplication and a double cystic duct treated with laparoscopic cholecystectomy.","PeriodicalId":18541,"journal":{"name":"Medicine Science | International Medical Journal","volume":"11 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"85723824","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We aim to evaluate the surgical methods and short-term outcomes of splenic flexure tumors. Fourteen patients with colonic tumors at or near the splenic flexure who underwent subtotal colectomy in the surgical oncology department of Samsun Training and Research Hospital between August 2017 and March 2020 were retrospectively evaluated in terms of postoperative morbidity, mortality, and early oncologic outcomes. Of the fourteen patients evaluated, twelve were urgent and two were elective. Four patients underwent additional organ resection as a curative surgery. The pathology was colonic adenocarcinoma in all patients, and the histotype was mucinous in five patients (35.7%). Lymph node positivity was detected in six patients (42.8%) and metastasis in one patient (7.1%). Postoperatively, two patients (14.2%) developed surgical site infection, and one patient (7.1%) died. Eight (57.1%) patients complained of more frequent defecation, with a mean bowel movement frequency of 3±1.6 times daily. Based on our clinical experience, subtotal colectomy is appropriate for emergency surgical treatment of splenic flexure tumors, whereas left hemicolectomy is appropriate under elective conditions.","PeriodicalId":18541,"journal":{"name":"Medicine Science | International Medical Journal","volume":"82 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"80896882","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Based on trauma and dissociation studies, i.e. modern psychotraumatology paradigms and modalities, the \"Dissoanalysis Theory\", structured by Ozturk with the aim of creating a functional society consisting of empathetic, prudent, just, peaceful, and capable individuals, made it possible for the emergence of \"dissoanalytic psychohistory\" from a psychosocial perspective. Dissoanalytic psychohistory is intervention therapy for psychosocial crises! “Dissoanalytic psychohistory” structured by Ozturk within the framework of the dissoanalytic school is defined as a branch of science that does researches on childhood traumas, psychosocial perceptions of childhood, chronic oppressions, child-rearing styles, dysfunctional families, dysfunctional generations, intergenerational transmission of trauma, intergenerational transfer of psychopathology, psychocommunal dissociation, dominant leaders and mass violence and develops strategies focused on especially preventing childhood traumas and wars. Dissoanalytic psychohistory, emphasizing that the neutralization of dysfunctional generations and the future can be achieved by the administration of \"psychocommunal therapy\" of all nations in the world, is an original psychology theory that consists of a holistic synthesis of modern psychotraumatology and psychohistory paradigms with the study of intergenerational transmission of trauma and intergenerational transfer of psychopathology. Dissoanalytic psychohistory, which is the dissoanalysis of the traumatic history of humanity and the construction of a new societal reality, both analyzes and integrates the dissociative components of societies with absolute reality. Dissoanalytic psychohistory creates development-oriented shifts, “dissociative revolutions”, “integrative psychosocial movements” and “mass predictions” and even functional and healthy new society profiles by raising awareness of masses of human about their actions.","PeriodicalId":18541,"journal":{"name":"Medicine Science | International Medical Journal","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"78536446","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The main cause of mortality is dehydration due to fluid loss and malnutrition. This study aims to examine the guiding parameters of uric acid and creatinine levels in the detection of dehydration and fluid deficit and inpatient management in cases of rotavirus gastroenteritis. Children who applied to Şirnak State Hospital, Pediatrics Polyclinics, children (6 months-18 years old) whose faecal samples were sent to the laboratory by the research pediatrician considering the diagnosis of rotavirus and whose microbiological examinations were confirmed by immunochromatographic methods (6 months-18 years old), were included in the study by scanning the system. When positive patients were evaluated, the mean age for serum uric acid was 1.06±1.53 and the mean age for serum creatinine was 1.10±1.37. The median value was 3.75 mg/dL in negative patients with serum uric acid levels, and 5.25 mg/dL in positive patients, which was statistically significant (p<0.01). The median value of serum creatinine level was 0.41 mg/dL in negative patients and 0.43 mg/dL in positive patients, which was statistically significant (p<0.05). With this study carried out in Şirnak province, we think that children in the region are severely affected by the rotavirus and face severe dehydration. Therefore, we think that all parameters affected by rotavirus should be evaluated according to regions and parents should be educated about the importance of rotavirus vaccine in the prevention of rotavirus gastroenteritis.","PeriodicalId":18541,"journal":{"name":"Medicine Science | International Medical Journal","volume":"51 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"80341981","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
