It is hypothesised that the region’s migration connectivity with other territories of Russia has increased, including due to a major transformation of the external and internal conditions of the regional and national development taking place since 2014. The study aims to confirm the hypothesis, as well as to identify the features of the change in the region’s migration connectivity with other entities of the Russian Federation in 2014-2021. The research applies general scientific, statistical and cartographic analysis methods, the method for calculating the coefficients of migration link intensity (Rybakovsky), the method for modelling migration schedules (Rogers and Castro). 2014-2021 official statistics obtained from Rosstat and Kaliningradstat were used. The study confirms the hypothesis of the substantial increase in Kaliningrad oblast’s migration connectivity with most other regions of the Russian Federation that manifested in an increase in the internal migration link intensity with a considerable expansion of incoming migration gravitation zones and compression of outgoing migration gravitation zones. The regions of the Far East, the North-West and Siberia show the largest increase in migration connectivity.","PeriodicalId":185188,"journal":{"name":"Global challenges to demographic development. The article is based on information from survey forms preserved in the archive and transcribed into a database that includes two tables: “Population of the city of Sverdlovsk. 1959» (4,715 entries) and “Family of the city of Sverdlovsk. 1959» (2,079 entries). To assess the level and frequency of widowhood, general and special coefficients were used to determine the impact of military losses on the family structure of the city, characterised by the archaisation of family and marriage relations as a result of the spread of intra-family consolidation strategies (an increase in the number of extended families). The transformation of single-parent families into typical social organisation was also considered. The unprecedented military losses of the male population during the Great Patriotic War exacerbated the gender imbalance that began to take shape at the end of the 19th century and particularly manifested during the First World War and the Civil War. The 1940s–1950s differ from the 1920s in that this is the time of the completion of the demographic transition, characterised by a change in the model of family and marriage behaviour, a tendency towards family nuclearisation.","PeriodicalId":185188,"journal":{"name":"Global challenges to demographic development. It is hypothesised that the provinces were in the transition zone from an industrial zone to a typically agricultural one; as a result, they could combine different variants of demographic behaviour of the population. The paper aims to study the peculiarities of demographic processes at the micro- (individual Orthodox parishes and settlements) and meso-levels (counties and provinces as a whole). Methods of mathematical statistics, as well as traditional methods of humanitarian research were used. Primary parish statistics (metric books), as well as surveys of provinces and other demographic studies were taken as the main source. It was concluded that the population of the studied provinces at the beginning of the 20th century has entered the zone of demographic transition from the traditional model of population re-production to the modern one. This process was considered in detail at the «grassroots level» based on the microdemographic analysis of individual Orthodox parishes.","PeriodicalId":185188,"journal":{"name":"Global challenges to demographic development. The survey was conducted by the author in all federal districts of the Russian Federation in 2021. It was determined that socio-psychological factors of close-knit family, love between spouses and psychological readiness to have a child have a strong influence on procreative behaviour; the grandparents’ willingness to provide assistance looking after the child/children has a medium impact. It was also revealed that the ideal number of children in the family according to the respondents cannot ensure the simple population reproduction in the country.","PeriodicalId":185188,"journal":{"name":"Global challenges to demographic development. PeriodicalId":185188,"journal":{"name":"Global challenges to demographic development. The study aims to determine and analyse various motives for the migration movement of the population and numerous patterns. Based on the experience of Tajikistan, the article draws a parallel between legal and natural laws, while studying the sensitive issue of mass migration of personnel from Tajikistan to other countries of the world and the damage done to the state, which also have their own laws. It is hypothesised that the continuing emigration of specialists from the republic can provoke a socio-economic decline and a sharp deterioration in the well-being of families with unpredictable consequences. The work uses various methods of collecting and analysing information, sociological and correlation approaches. For the first time in the national demographic science, the legal and natural patterns of the ongoing migration processes in the Republic of Tajikistan have been studied and practically substantiated. The conclusions and scientific results of the research can be used in the practical activities of the relevant government authorities and the scientific community that studies the field of migration.","PeriodicalId":185188,"journal":{"name":"Global challenges to demographic development.
