Selected planning documents were presented, which are not only necessary when planning new developments in communes, but also help to estimate the value of real estate. Design/methodology/approach: An analysis of the legislation governing the meaning and use of planning documents was carried out. A literature analysis on the subject was also carried out. Findings: The range of data used for the real estate market should include the use of multiple sources of information, both mandatory and optional. Deficiencies in the use of real estate information, or the acquisition of poor quality information, may lead to inappropriate investment decisions by real estate market participants. Therefore, basic sources of information on real estate should be taken into account when making any decisions concerning the broadly understood management of real estate; in the case of investments, planning studies such as the local spatial development plan or the study of the conditions and directions of spatial development of a municipality should be taken into account in particular. Research limitations/implications: Planning documents are extremely important when planning new developments. These documents are not only an excellent source of information on existing land or built-up land, but also help to plan the development of vacant land on the urban fringe, among other things. Practical implications: The analysis of the planning documentation presented helps to understand the relevance of local spatial plans and development studies of municipalities for planned construction projects or land use change. Originality/value: To date, there has been very little analysis of planning documents as an important source of information in property management. Hamerla","doi":"10.29119/1641-3466.2021.154.3","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.29119/1641-3466.2021.154.3","url":null,"abstract":"Purpose: the main purpose of this paper is to present the idea of a new e-service concerning post-mining areas, which is being developed in the Silesian Voivodeship and which is expected to increase their attractiveness. Design/methodology/approach: The new e-service is based on the development of a system for the inventory and valorisation of post-mining areas. In the course of the work, a field inventory of the areas is carried out, which involves collecting information on their location, configuration in relation to main transport routes, surface configuration and the manner of their management. These data are collected in a database system, which is additionally linked with algorithms enabling benchmarking, assessment of ecosystem services and evaluation of investment attractiveness. All of this will create a new e-service that will enable decisions to be made regarding their further use by various stakeholders. Findings: The value of post-mining and post-industrial areas in the processes of economic transformation of the Silesian Voivodeship and the needs of stakeholders for information regarding these areas. Research limitations/implications: The results provide a basis to improve the effectiveness of regional development planning, especially solutions for SME involvement and cooperation. The results confirm, that a detailed study of entrepreneurs' needs should be included as the main instrument for the implementation and for gaining reliable information on the effectiveness of implemented solutions in the field of innovation support. Practical implications: The Silesia Voivodeship has a large number of post-industrial areas, for which the state and degree of degradation is often undefined. Building new e-services for a region in transition is an important factor for its competitiveness. The OPI-TPP 2.0 service allows the valorisation of sites and additionally provides information to potential investors on the necessary planning, investment and environmental measures. Originality/value: The contribution of the research to the development e-services in post31 mining land management.","PeriodicalId":184741,"journal":{"name":"Scientific Papers of Silesian University of Technology. Design/methodology/approach: The authors conducted a case study in a selected project team operating in a non-governmental organization in Poland. Findings: The results of the study allow one to better understand the specific challenges the selected NGO project team was facing. Thus, they add new knowledge to the issues on effective communication and building positive relationships in NGO project teams. Moreover, the case study outcomes set the guidelines for further in-depth studies of a quantitative nature. Research limitations/implications: Being aware of the limitations resulting from the deliberate selection of the project team for the study, an analysis of the answers obtained was undertaken, the results of which allow one to present the issues of communication and building positive relationships within project teams in non-governmental organizations. In order to make generalizations, further in-depth research in this area should be carried out. Practical implications: In non-governmental organizations, authorities and project managers should increase their competences in the field of effective communication and building positive relationships in project teams in order to successfully implement projects. Social implications: Knowledge of the methods of effective communication and building positive relationships in project teams allows to increase awareness among members of non- governmental organizations of how the ways of working and team involvement affect the success of projects. Selected aspects","authors":"Agnieszka Piotrowska-Piątek","doi":"10.29119/1641-3466.2022.162.32","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.29119/1641-3466.2022.162.32","url":null,"abstract":"Purpose: This article addresses selected aspects of internationalization of higher education (HE) in Poland in the context of demographic changes. The purpose of it is to analyze the dynamics of the number of foreign students studying at Polish Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) and their structure by type of HEI, field of study and origin. Design/methodology/approach: A review of the literature on the subject and desk research with reference to data from the Statistics Poland were used. The analysis, covered the years 2004-2020, was based on selected methods of descriptive statistics. Findings: Between 2004 and 2020, the number of foreign students increased almost 10-fold. The average growth rate in the analyzed time series was 15.2% for the group of HEIs and 21.5% for non-public HEIs. The choices of foreign students most often group fields of study in the areas of social sciences, economy and medicine. There has been an increase in interest in studies in technology and services, while there has been a marked decline in fields of study related to the humanities and education. Research limitations/implications: The demographic perspective adds a new dimension to the issues of growth and development of HEIs, that is why this issue involves further in-depth analysis. Practical implications: Despite the apparent positive change with regard to the number of student-foreigners studying at Polish HEIs, this statistic, compared to other European countries, is still unsatisfactory. In the face of projected further unfavorable demographic trends, countries with positive natural increase and younger age structures, become an opportunity to compensate for the loss of Polish students. Efforts by the entire HE sector are needed to seize these opportunities. It is necessary to further correlate sectoral policies — HE with population, foreign and social policies. HEIs should improve processes related to caring for the broader relationship with foreign students. Originality/value: The paper is addressed to all interested in HE policy. The study should be seen as a contribution to the existing discussion in the issue of growth and development of HEIs. Design/methodology/approach: the typology method facilitates the analysis and understanding of the essence of business networks by identifying and characterizing their different types. The systematic literature review (SLR) methodology was used to develop the typology, enriched with the snowball method. Findings: analysis of the content of publications selected during the SLR procedure made it possible to indicate various criteria for the division and types of business networks from widely quoted literature. On this basis, a typology of business networks was proposed, divided into four main types: networks originating from industrial districts, strategic networks, cooperation networks, and global business networks. Practical implications: the possibility of using the proposed concept in assessing various business network models will enable the formulation of diagnostic findings and comparative and dynamic research. Originality/value: at the current stage of scientific reflection, the developed typology enriches the theory of organizational networks by systematizing and comprehensively addressing business network models, which may lead to identifying trends in their development.
