The SOA approach enables both robust component development and asset creation for the enterprises. However, the real challenge faced by business lies in the area of SOA governance where the development of business and technical services are guided in a systematic and rational fashion. This paper presents a business-driven analysis method for business service development in the context of SOA. Business services have to be analyzed to guarantee their behaviors before they can be ready for implementation. We are using the System Dynamics method to model services and simulate their behaviors. Models and simulation results for business services via system dynamics are also presented in this paper.","PeriodicalId":184487,"journal":{"name":"IEEE International Conference on e-Business Engineering (ICEBE'07)","volume":"61 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-10-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133083590","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To achieve interoperability among enterprise applications, common document formats or standards must be followed across business entities, e.g., the legacy electronic data interchange (EDI) and the popular extensible Markup Language (XML). Based on the document object model (DOM), both source and target documents can be visualized as structural trees. Naturally, document translation involves a tree traversal process (for source) and a tree creation process (for target). However, data grouping problem occurs when there are multiple items of the same type (or XML tag) and there is a need to group items differently. The normal document translation process may need to traverse the source DOM trees multiple times due to the ambiguities associated with the process. In this paper, we propose a document translation mechanism that performs a tree traversal over the source tree structure in one pass and automatically creates a target tree structure based upon user-defined rules. For certain grouping options that may cause ambiguity during the translation process, our approach requires just an additional pass over the target tree structure.","PeriodicalId":184487,"journal":{"name":"IEEE International Conference on e-Business Engineering (ICEBE'07)","volume":"160 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-10-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133974454","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Presently, most of the Web-based applications design only consider security issue, but ignore performance problem. According to these two issues, we propose a new approach to integrate security and performance aspects for Web-based applications, called ISPWAD, which combines SWAP and RBAC frameworks. The purposes of proposed ISPWAD are to fix the security holes and improve the processing performance during in designing Web-based applications. In this paper, we propose the ISPWAD framework and design its algorithm, and also illustrate how to implement the secure Web-based applications with tuning performance. Then, we will utilize the ISPWAD to set up a practical EIP system and perform simulations for security solutions and performance improvements. Finally, our experimental results indicate that the proposed ISPWAD can solve related security holes, obtain better processing performance, and reduce development time and cost. In addition, the ISPWAD can attain a good balance-point between security and performance. In the future, the ISPWAD framework can provide a reference model for implementing e-commerce, ERP II, or EIP systems.","PeriodicalId":184487,"journal":{"name":"IEEE International Conference on e-Business Engineering (ICEBE'07)","volume":"41 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-10-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134025955","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Service information hub provides information management capabilities for SLM. The service information hub is much more than a data storage architecture, it is aimed for supporting end-to-end service lifecycle management via integrated information framework with value-add information and analytics services. In this paper, we will discuss what service information hub is and how service information hub addresses the challenges in the large scale service lifecycle management.","PeriodicalId":184487,"journal":{"name":"IEEE International Conference on e-Business Engineering (ICEBE'07)","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-10-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134195450","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A business process in that environment, i.e., the service-oriented business process (SOBP), shows highly flexibility for its free selection and composition of different services. The performance of the business process usually has to be evaluated and predicted before its being implemented. And it has special features since it includes both business-level and IT-level attributes. However, the existing modeling and performance evaluation methods of business process are mainly concentrated on business-level performance. And the researches on service selection and composition are usually limited to the IT-level metrics. An extended activity-network-based SOBP Model, its three-level performance metrics, and the corresponding calculation algorithm are proposed to fulfill these requirements. The advantages of our method in SOBP modeling and performance evaluation are highlighted also.","PeriodicalId":184487,"journal":{"name":"IEEE International Conference on e-Business Engineering (ICEBE'07)","volume":"285 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-10-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133842096","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

So far, research and development of e-services have mainly focused on an operational perspective, such as the development of standards for message exchanges and service coordination. However, on a strategic level, the success of e-services depends on its ability to work as a catalyst for the business values that are being exchanged. In this paper, we present an approach that utilize value and goal models as the foundation for designing e-services. The approach can be used to strategically ensure that the developed e-services support the desired business values for involved actors. A case study from the Swedish health sector is used to ground and apply the presented approach.","PeriodicalId":184487,"journal":{"name":"IEEE International Conference on e-Business Engineering (ICEBE'07)","volume":"58 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-10-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116044227","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
