The highest STI prevalence has been reported among key populations such as Female Sex Workers (FSWs) and fisher folk. This study investigated the factors influencing uptake of sexually transmitted infections screening among Adolescent Female sex Workers (AFSWs) in Mukono district, Uganda. Methods: In this cross-sectional descriptive and analytical study, a total of 355 AFSWs based on the streets, bars, lodges, hotels, brothels, landing sites and other entertainment places in Mukono district were recruited using snowball sampling. Data was collected using pre-tested semi-structured questionnaires through face-to-face interviews with the help of trained research assistants. Data collected was entered into Epi-Data and then exported to SPSS for analysis. Analysis was done at three levels; Univariate for descriptive summary, Bivariate to test for possible association between each independent variable and the outcome variable, and Multivariate logistic regression to control for possible confounding effects of the independent variables. Chi square (χ2) test was done and p value 0.05 used to determine the association. Results: This study found that uptake of STIs screening among AFSWs was 32.1%. AFSWs who reported that STI screening wasn’t embarrassing were 3 times more likely to take-up STI screening than those who said uptake of STI screening was embarrassing (PR=3.45, 95%CI=1.96 - 6.09, P=<0.001). AFSWs who reported that STI screening wasn’t painful were 5 times more likely to take-up STI screening than those who said uptake of STI screening was painful (PR=5.45, 95%CI=2.78 - 10.66, P=<0.001). Conclusion: STIs screening rate among AFSWs in Mukono district was at 32.1%. Individual factors (attitude) and health facility factors were found to be the real influencers of uptake of STI screening among AFSWs in Mukono district. We, therefore, recommend that government scales up provision of sexually transmitted infection screening to even cater for high risk and vulnerable groups to facilitate and increase access to STI screening.","PeriodicalId":183831,"journal":{"name":"Advances in Sexual & Reproductive Health Research","volume":"64 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123772003","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, it poses great diagnostic and management challenges. We present a 35-year-old P3+1 (3 alive) lady who was referred from a private facility following nine-weeks history of amenorrhea and a one-day history of lower abdominal pain. She had two different ultrasound scans which suspected an ectopic and an intrauterine pregnancy respectively. She subsequently had laparotomy with finding of haemoperitoneum of 2.5litres and a ruptured right ectopic pregnancy around the isthmic region. Heterotopic pregnancy still remains a diagnostic challenge despite the availability of ultrasound. A high index of suspicion is needed for timely diagnosis and subsequent surgical management for a favorable outcome.","PeriodicalId":183831,"journal":{"name":"Advances in Sexual & Reproductive Health Research","volume":"35 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128921057","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Adolescent girls are more likely to experiment sexual practice before they have knowledge of its subsequent consequences. Objective: This study aimed to assess the effect of training on the knowledge and attitude of female adolescent students towards reproductive health and emergency contraceptives. Methods: A school based single group pre-post quasi-experimental study design was employed in four secondary schools in Asmara on 140 female students. Trained data collectors during the pre-test, immediate post-test and three months later used a predesigned and pretested questionnaire to collect data regarding the knowledge and attitude via interview. Repeated measures ANOVA was used to make comparisons in knowledge and attitude scores using SPSS (Version 22). Results: Of all the study participants, a quarter (30.0 %) have heard of the methods of emergency contraceptives at the initial assessment. After training, three quarter (75.7%) of the students were able to have the correct knowledge. Life skill teachers at the school (57.9%) were mentioned as the primary source of information regarding reproductive health. The health education provided to adolescent females resulted in a significant increase on the mean scores of their knowledge from 6.57/13 (SD=2.08) pre-intervention to 9.26/13 (SD=2.14) immediate post intervention. However, the score declined significantly (p <0.001) from immediate after intervention to 3 months’ follow-up by 0.80. Although the score declined, knowledge at 3 months’ follow-up was still significantly greater than that of pre-intervention (p<0.0001). The percentage of participants who believe a girl should carry emergency contraceptives in her bag significantly improved from 52.3% to 86.2% after intervention. The mean (SD) scores of attitudes towards reproductive health significantly increased at three time periods. Mean (SD) scores at time 1 (pre-intervention), time 2 (immediate post) and time 3 (three-month follow-up) were 48.98 (4.68), 51.03 (4.04), and 49.65 (4.01) out of 69 respectively. Attitude score was significantly higher at immediate post intervention than pre-intervention (p<0.001) and immediate post intervention than 3 months’ follow-up (p=0.001), but no significant difference existed between 3 months’ follow-up and pre-intervention (p=0.395). Conclusion: This research has yielded a valuable evidence that educational intervention can bring a significant increase in the knowledge and in introducing positive attitude towards reproductive health and usage of emergency contraceptives among adolescents. Reproductive health education with special emphasis on contraceptives should be part of the structured school curriculum to reach all students in the country with schools playing a leading role in coordinating the efforts of awareness creation.","PeriodicalId":183831,"journal":{"name":"Advances in Sexual & Reproductive Health Research","volume":"41 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124275728","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Genome multiplication culturing has been a primary paradigm in the direct material method of inquiry [1]. Nuclear biochemical approach to consciousness adopts functional biology in brain development with relation to neuronal development [2]. Such approach holds social functional presumptions of brain development with hydroelectrolysis methods, and implies a diagnostic subjective cognition in research [2].
