A clinical case].","authors":"A Rodrigues, R D Coelho, F Pereira","doi":"","DOIUrl":"","url":null,"abstract":"

The authors report a case of lupus vulgaris in a 22-year-old female patient occurring three months after BCG vaccination, with a period of evolution of two months. The Mantoux intradermoreaction (1 U) was strongly positive, and no acid-fast bacilli were found in the lesion, either by direct analysis or by culture in a Lowenstein medium. The histopathological findings confirmed the diagnosis. Prescribed treatment with isoniazid and rifampicin for three months resulted in complete healing on the sixth month.
","PeriodicalId":18373,"journal":{"name":"Medicina cutanea ibero-latino-americana","volume":"18 4","pages":"224-6"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1990-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"13233633","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Isolation of virus was confirmed in 85% of the 206 cases studied. All seems to indicate that around the 20% of the isolations belong to the type HSV1 and the rest to the type HSV2. Viral Antigen demonstration, by direct and/or indirect technics with antibodies poly or monoclonals shows to be less sensitive than the virus isolation. The systematic study of these sexually transmitted disease revealed two indicative results: 5.32 cases of Gonococia per each case of HSV were confirmed. It seems to be a possibly relation for the actual epidemiology moment of our country. The other is the need, specially in younger people, to explore systematically syphilis, not only in all the genital ulcers, also in presence of a typical clinical of HSV.
","PeriodicalId":18373,"journal":{"name":"Medicina cutanea ibero-latino-americana","volume":"18 1","pages":"44-8"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1990-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"13324762","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Cutaneous manifestations preceded in months the cancer. Dermatosis affected fingers of hands and feet, soles, nose and helix. Black melanic hyperpigmentation was the first cutaneous sign and were followed by an hyperkeratosis, becoming the most clinical characteristic of the syndrome. The sequence of these signs induces us to suggest that hormonal factors elaborated by the tumoral cells are the ones responsible for the pigmentary changes since they appeared before the hyperkeratosis.
","PeriodicalId":18373,"journal":{"name":"Medicina cutanea ibero-latino-americana","volume":"18 4","pages":"257-62"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1990-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"13233638","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

{"title":"[Histologic aspects of seborrheic keratosis].","authors":"N Pérez-Oliva, J Toribio, P A Quiñones","doi":"","DOIUrl":"","url":null,"abstract":"

The histopathological aspects of seborrheic keratosis have been studied in order to establish a basis to their classification upon structural morphology and cytology. The 210 seborrheic keratosis studied could be classified in several patterns among which we must point out the three most important ones: hyperkeratotic, adenoid and acanthotic. This last one can offer two very different images: uniform acanthotic (this one including at the same time, a variant of \"small basal cells\") and reticular acanthotic. Special mention has to be made as well to the activated and pure forms which, though being the result of evolutive accidental phenomena, no doubt they have very particular and distinctive histopathological aspects. Further, other variants are discussed such a clonal and acantholytic seborrheic keratosis, as well as the significance of inverted follicular keratosis and of melanoacanthoma.
","PeriodicalId":18373,"journal":{"name":"Medicina cutanea ibero-latino-americana","volume":"18 1","pages":"70-7"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1990-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"13299106","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
