The emergence of the WebRTC (Web Real-Time Communication) open framework has provided an opportunity to redefine the video conferencing communication landscape. However, in the mobile context, challenges remain in optimizing video encoding parameters due to limited device processing power and dynamic wireless network conditions. In this paper, we investigate how different video encoding parameters in terms of encoding bit rate, resolution, and frame rate, influence Quality of Experience (QoE). While video parameters are manually manipulated, we observe also dynamic video adaptation invoked as a result of the Google Congestion Control (GCC) algorithm. We conduct an experimental study involving twenty-seven users participating in three-party audiovisual WebRTC calls on symmetric mobile devices with a given conversation task to simulate natural conversation. Participants reported subjective ratings for test scenarios with different combinations of video encoding parameters, for which we collect real-time session data using the Chrome WebRTC-internals tool.","PeriodicalId":182429,"journal":{"name":"2019 15th International Conference on Telecommunications (ConTEL)","volume":"49 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-08-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127117023","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, we consider a vehicle-to-vehicle link and propose a path loss expression as a function of distance and different weather conditions. We conduct ray tracing simulations and verify the accuracy of proposed expression. We further use this expression to derive the achievable transmission distance for a targeted data rate while satisfying a given value of bit error rate. Numerical results are presented to demonstrate the achievable distances for single and dual photodetector deployment cases.","PeriodicalId":182429,"journal":{"name":"2019 15th International Conference on Telecommunications (ConTEL)","volume":"34 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-07-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129914486","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

With conventional methods of crowdfunding, the level of transparency depends on a centralized platform used in campaigns. With the emergence of peer-to-peer digital currency systems, also known as cryptocurrencies, it became possible to implement crowdfunding campaigns in a fully transparent way for investors. Public sales of blockchain digital assets are known as crowdsales which are implemented using blockchain smart contracts. The paper presents a solution for automating ICO processes implemented using the Ethereum blockchain and explain the basics of crowdsale token sale flow. Next, we analyze features vital for transparent ICO execution as well as the benefits and costs of running an ICO on cryptocurrency application platforms.","PeriodicalId":182429,"journal":{"name":"2019 15th International Conference on Telecommunications (ConTEL)","volume":"64 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-07-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133519307","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Such a trend is evident in many research fields where the number of data producers is constantly increasing. For example, fields of transportation science and automotive industry may consider each vehicle on the road as a separate data producer which can generate large amounts of data. In the literature, the big data is commonly used as an umbrella term when discussing research related to the following data challenges: volume, variety, velocity, veracity and value. Furthermore, it is a common approach to use a variety of programming tools and methods for different data processing phases, i.e., data collection, data storage, and data analysis. In this paper, we present a distributed data platform that addresses the aforementioned challenges by relying on a specific design choices for each of data processing phases. We argument how such the data platform supports robustness, scalability, fault tolerance, and reliability by showcasing the two real-world use-cases from the transportation/automotive domain: (i) collection, storage, and analysis of the data generated by electric cleaners fleet, and (ii) collection, storage, and analysis of transaction data from EV charging stations, which is further used to develop the EV charging infrastructure.","PeriodicalId":182429,"journal":{"name":"2019 15th International Conference on Telecommunications (ConTEL)","volume":"73 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-07-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130850215","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, the dense small cell deployment is facing a technical challenge in mobility management due to the increased number of handovers (HOs), especially in heterogeneous networks (HetNets). The increasing probability of HOs may cause HO failure (HOF) or HO ping-pong (HOPP) which degrades the system performance. To solve this problem, we propose a weighted fuzzy self-optimization (WFSO) approach for the optimization of the handover control parameters (HCPs). In this approach, the HO decision relies on three considered attributes: signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio, traffic load of serving and target base station, and user equipment’s velocity. The self-optimized HCPs, namely the HO margin and time-to-trigger are adjusted according to the current status of these attributes to improve the HO performance. Simulation results indicate that the proposed WFSO approach significantly lowers the rates of HOPP, radio link failure and HOF in comparison with the other algorithms found in the literature.","PeriodicalId":182429,"journal":{"name":"2019 15th International Conference on Telecommunications (ConTEL)","volume":"38 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-07-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123284074","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

They are able to decode signals of frequencies higher than the frame rate of the camera, which is a limitation when using global shutter sensors. Based on experience with an experimental optical camera communications system, a simulation of rolling shutter receiver for OCC has been developed. This simulator uses a color-multiplexed on-off keying (OOK) modulation, along with a radiance pattern for the LED source, to generate transmitted signals. Then, a simplified camera optics model translates them into received signals, to which the RS simulation is applied, delivering synthetic camera frames.","PeriodicalId":182429,"journal":{"name":"2019 15th International Conference on Telecommunications (ConTEL)","volume":"50 20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-07-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124040096","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Furthermore, after comparing inconsistencies in the outcomes of conducted studies, we provide a detailed discussion on noise-introducing contextual factors (weapon choice, level of difficulty, social context) that might have influenced the results of our initial study, and highlight the impact of methodology on the overall conclusiveness of user studies focused on multiplayer games. The wiring harness of autonomous vehicles is far too complex, heavy, and prone to errors and must be adapted or entirely replaced to support future systems. Consequently, Reconfigurable Optical Add/Drop Multiplexers (ROADMs) can be used to reduce the overall complexity, while optimizing wiring and weight.
