CSOM or also called chronic otitis media is an ear disease condition where a chronic infection is found in the middle ear without an intact tympanic membrane. Oxygen free radical levels and deficiency of antioxidant defense complexes may be involved in the pathogenesis of chronic suppurative otitis media. The IL-17 pathway plays an important role in the pathogenesis of otitis media by increasing ROS including MDA levels.\u0000Purpose: To analyze the levels of interleukin 17 (IL-17) and malondialdehyde (MDA) in chronic suppurative otitis media patients.\u0000Method: Analytical observational research with a cross sectional approach was conducted in December 2022 at RSUD Dr. Moewardi, the research sample was a patient with chronic suppurative otitis media without active phase cholesteatoma. Sampling used consecutive sampling, namely a non-random sampling method, so that a sample size of 40 participants was obtained, divided into two groups, namely the CSOM group and the healthy group. The data analysis used is univariate and bivariate analysis using parametric tests, namely the product moment correlation test and if it is not normally distributed (p-value <0.05) then use the Spearman rank correlation test.\u0000Results: The mean IL-17 level in the CSOM group was 78.76 ± 28.01 and the healthy group was 47.68 ± 21.75 with p = 0.000 < 0.05. The mean MDA value in the CSOM group was 138.37 ± 123.96 and in the healthy group was 55.84 ± 47.37 with a p value = 0.008 < 0.05. Because the p value is <0.05 for the IL-7 and MDA variables, there is a significant difference between CSOM and the group of healthy people. The product moment correlation test obtained a correlation coefficient value of 0.623 with a p value = 0.000. Because the p value is <0.05, there is a significant positive relationship between IL-17 levels and MDA in the blood of chronic suppurative otitis media (CSOM) patients.\u0000Conclusion: There is a significant positive relationship between IL-17 levels and MDA in the blood of chronic suppurative otitis media (CSOM) patients.

These changes can cause discomfort, such as nausea and vomiting. Nausea and vomiting usually occur in the first trimester of pregnancy (0-12 weeks of gestation) with a prevalence of almost 80%. Pregnant women with symptoms of nausea and vomiting can experience hyperemesis gravidarum so that their nutritional intake is disrupted. One way to anticipate and treat nausea and vomiting is through acupuncture therapy, but this therapy is often feared because it requires inserting needles. So acupressure therapy is used, which is a complementary therapy that can be applied to pregnant women by applying pressure to acupuncture points to stimulate the central nervous system through the hypothalamus and limbic system thereby balancing hormones.\u0000Purpose: To determine the effect of using an acupressure wristband at pericardium point 6 in reducing nausea and vomiting in pregnant women.\u0000Method: The type of research used was a pre-post-test experimental design using PC 6 acupuncture points on pregnant women between 6-14 weeks of gestation who experienced nausea and vomiting as many as 30 participants. Research data was collected using the Pregnancy-Unique Quantification of Emesis and Nausea (PUQE) scoring system, which measures the severity of nausea and vomiting in pregnancy within 12 hours.\u0000Results: There is a difference in the PUQE scale before and after using the acupressure wristband at point PC 6. Where before the intervention some participants experienced nausea and vomiting in the moderate NVP category (7-12), namely 15 (50.0%) and severe NVP ≥13.13 (43 .3%). However, after intervention for the intensity of nausea and vomiting, the majority of participants were in the mild NVP category ≤6, 14 (46.7%). This shows that using the PC 6 acupuncture wristband can relieve nausea and vomiting experienced by pregnant women.\u0000Conclusion: Acupressure wristband are effective in preventing nausea and vomiting experienced by pregnant women.

This antioxidant activity can help the wound-healing process.\u0000Purpose: To determine the anti-inflammatory effect of balbisiana extract to help wound healing.\u0000Method: The study used 15 rats, which were divided into five groups: a positive control group, a negative control group, a 10% balbisiana extract group, a 20% balbisiana extract group, and a 40% balbisiana extract group. Statistical analysis was performed using the Shapiro-Wilk test to test the normality of the distribution of continuous quantitative data. Levene's test was then used to assess the statistical homogeneity of variance between groups. Welch's One-Way ANOVA was used to analyze the data. Post-hoc analysis was performed using the Games-Howell test.\u0000Results: The results of the study showed that balbisiana extract had significant anti-inflammatory activity, especially at a concentration of 40%. This was demonstrated by the results of the study, which showed that rats treated with 40% balbisiana extract had significantly improved wound healing compared to the control groups.\u0000Conclusion: This study shows that balbisiana extract has anti-inflammatory activity in helping the wound healing process.
