In the electricity market, it is necessary to encourage the generators to provide the reserve through one scientific and reasonable reserve pricing mechanism. The reserve Aumann-Shapley pricing mechanism is put forward in this paper, with the analysis of the costs and benefits, the mutual costs and benefits of the energy and the reserve are allocated basing on the Aumann-Shapley value firstly, and then the reserve prices under the competitive energy market are formed, the joint optimization model of the energy market considering the reserve Aumann-Shapley price is founded, and the influence of the reserve Aumann-Shapley price on the generators' bidding strategies is analyzed. This paper analyzes the performance of grounding systems made of steel or copper conductors, taking into account the impedances of the ground conductors. A series of computer models simulate grounding systems of different sizes in various soil structures. Numerical results such as ground impedance, ground potential rise (GPR), touch and step voltages, and potential differences between copper ground conductors are compared with those pertaining to steel grounding systems. The performance advantages of grounding grids made of copper are demonstrated throughout the comparison. This paper uses a real case, a local power plant connected to a remote load center through a series compensated radial transfer corridor, as an example to illustrate the capability of TCSC to mitigate SSR. The TCSC uses a special patented control scheme called synchronous voltage reversal (SVR). The paper is organized into three parts. Firstly, modal analysis is applied to obtain the natural torsional modes of the shaft spring mass model. Secondly, simulation of the generator and the connected electric network is performed, when a small modulation of the generator shaft speed within the SSR frequency range has been applied. As a result the electrical damping can be obtained from the calculated electrical torque. The scanning results under different scenarios show that the units using a fixed series compensation scheme are highly exposed to SSR risk. A novel scheme with TCSC is proposed and the result of frequency scanning shows very good SSR damping performance, where SVR counteracts the most part of the electrical damping of the modes at risk. Furthermore, an add-on control strategy can be easily introduced to pull the remaining slight portion into a secure range. Based on these known algorithms, the cooperative modeling and design mechanism of multi-agent is studied to construct novel protection system in this paper. The abstract concept and principle of the agent are embodied; organization-based collaboration of multi- agent is proposed to improve the protection system's intelligence and abilities of eliminating the misoperation and reject of protection. Some design mechanisms of the agent are given for the wide-area backup protection, such as agent's internal three- layer structure, functional modules, equal organizational structure, the negotiation protocol, and three fault-tolerance measures. The state diagram and collaboration diagram are adapted to analyze interaction behaviors among agents. An example is given to explain the negotiation procedure while all protection operations in an agent are failing. Another example explains how multiple agents cooperate to find and lock the misoperation of III line protection made by transmission line overload. In this paper, a fuzzy filter and Prony algorithm based hybrid method is presented to identify the modes of low-frequency oscillation. Because the fuzzy filter can cancel the mixed noise rapidly and easily by fuzzy logic, the dominant mode of the low-frequency oscillation can be obtained relatively easily by Prony algorithm this time. The new hybrid control strategy not only solves the oscillating problem caused by the change of transformer taps and shunt capacitors switching, but also responses the global optimal control command of reactive power in time. Wen, Yuan Pan","doi":"10.1109/ICPST.2006.321816","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.1109/ICPST.2006.321816","url":null,"abstract":"The multi-functional flexible power conditioner (FPC) is a novel FACTS device, which consists of a large-mass varying-speed energy storage flywheel and a double-fed induction machine (DFIM). The FPC can be used to compensate the dynamic unbalanced power of the power system following disturbances using the energy stored in the flywheel by controlling the rotor speed. With an appropriate control strategy, the FPC is able to realize an independent active and reactive power exchanging with the connected power system. Similar to the superconductive magnetic energy storage (SMES), the FPC can be used to improve the stability of power system and the quality of the power supply. As it is difficult for the conventional stator flux oriented control (SFOC) to give satisfactory robustness of the FPC against the grid voltage fluctuation in this particular application, an improved SFOC is developed. A state space displacement model in terms of d-q components is deduced from the linearized equations, which is used to describe the small signal dynamic performance of the doubly fed induction machine. The system eigenvalue analysis result shows that the dynamic performance and the stability operation regions of the FPC are influenced mainly by the rotor speed, the grid voltage fluctuation and the rotor excitation control. The slip stability rather than the angular stability seems to dominant the stability characteristics of the FPC. A small slip absolute value will give a more stable FPC. Investigation results also show that the dynamics of the stator currents on the performance of the FPC is neglectable and therefore a third order reduced model is enough to represent FPC for approximation. This simplifies the design of the excitation control.
