Using adoption theories and introducing the concepts of in-museum interactivity and smart retailing, the authors document the gap in the literature of museum digitalization and develop a conceptual model. The 279 answers of museum visitors were analyzed to test the model using SmartPLS software. The findings show that (1) smart retailing and in-museum interactivity directly and positively influence the adoption and use of immersive technologies in museums and that (2) gender and generational differences exist regarding adoption. This article offers a substantial contribution to academic research and to practitioners and museum managers as it provides a more comprehensive view of the process of the digitalization of museums.","PeriodicalId":181387,"journal":{"name":"Int. However, there is a lack of studies that evaluate their system success. This study looks into the interactions between user satisfaction and subjective and objective user performance within the IC. It differs from the previous research by having both subjective and objective measures constructed from the end-user computing satisfaction (EUCS) survey responses and system-recorded data from a multinational intelligence sharing system called Conjunctis Viribus. It generates several key findings. First, only self-rated performance is closely related to user satisfaction. Second, the subjective and objective user performances have close connections to the frequency of system use. Finally, while individual differences have positive influences on self-rated user performance, the user satisfaction is not subjective to such influences. Besides the theoretical contributions, this study also has tremendous implications to the design and use of future intelligence systems.","PeriodicalId":181387,"journal":{"name":"Int. J. Art Cult. The installation is a simulation of a Benthamian–Foucauldian panopticon, employing Baudrillard's theory and making connections with Ghanaian folklore and beliefs. There is evidence of technologies of (re)production of imagery and different orders of simulacra in Ghanaian folklore. Using everyday consumable packages, the authors repurpose and (re)produce a series of cameras and argue that the means of (re)production and dissemination of images have surpassed their initial points of referral. At the heart of simulation is the metaphorical camera (simulacra), which cautions us of its new interpretation: the omnipresent panopticon, with its inescapable implicit gaze, surveillance, and exploits. The use of everyday consumable packaging to construct a simulacrum highlights how we are continuously monitored not only by security apparatuses but also by the goods and services we consume.","PeriodicalId":181387,"journal":{"name":"Int. Several research studies have been done around the world to improve web accessibility. However, advances in Arabic web accessibility studies are limited. Research has indicated that a significant number of Arabic websites have accessibility issues, which becomes a restraint to people with disabilities from accessing and using the web. This research reviews current studies in web accessibility presented within the cultural background of several Arabic-speaking countries, particularly the Arabian Gulf region of Gulf Cooperation Council, and addresses services offered by the countries. The authors evaluate 54 websites in the Gulf region regarding accessibility issues. The results show that all websites do not satisfy WCAG 2.0 (AA). This paper highlights the deficiencies in Arabic web accessibility and provide some recommendations and suggestions for improvements.","PeriodicalId":181387,"journal":{"name":"Int. J. Art Cult. Des. Various archaeological marble materials of cultural heritage (e.g., statues) are frequently encountered in excavation sites amongst other finds. The scope of the present work is to investigate whether natural marble could be used for dosimetric purposes in cultural applications, such as dating or authenticity test of ancient marble objects, through an integrated experimental approach. For this purpose, the chemical composition, structure/morphology, and luminescence properties of 11 different types of natural marble of different origin (from various geographical regions) were examined by means of micro-x-ray fluorescence spectroscopy, stereoscopic microscopy, thermoluminescence (TL), and optically stimulated luminescence (OSL), respectively. Results indicate that though TL and OSL could be used for the identification of the marble type (origin), the use of natural marble for dosimetric purposes using these methods requires the a-priori knowledge of its type along with some of the main luminescence properties.","PeriodicalId":181387,"journal":{"name":"Int. An intelligent decision-making mechanism, combined with multi-criteria assessment, is required to lead to compatible and sustainable decision making concerning conservation works. Decision making is a complex process that takes into account a wide range of parameters, from qualitative (such as the historical or cultural value of the building) to quantified data (such as the properties of its materials) and involves the following tasks: monitoring, inspection, diagnosis, intervention study, interventions, and evaluation of interventions. It should be based on specific specifications, criteria, and methodology to ensure the sustainability of the construction and require the availability of data of a different nature and of high quality. In this work, different artificial intelligent systems are investigated and tested—UTASTAR methodology based on linear regression, unsupervised non-linear classifiers (feed-forward neural networks), and clustering methodologies (fuzzy c-means algorithm)—in order to develop a decision.","PeriodicalId":181387,"journal":{"name":"Int. This project initiative aims to encourage students to conduct research by leveraging digital technology and archival collections, and hence connect themselves with the communities. The research team followed the six-step ‘forensic investigation' to continue its mission of 3D restoration of the lost Xiyu Pagoda Lighthouse in Xiyu Island, Penghu, Taiwan. A new line of inquiry regarding the economic behaviour of the pagoda lighthouse was also extended during the course of clarifying the obscured text of the evidence collected. Beyond demonstrating how technology and humanities are intertwined, the aim of this article is to illustrate how librarians may actively disseminate knowledge through connecting students with archival collections.","PeriodicalId":181387,"journal":{"name":"Int. The linguistic phenomenon of lexical aspect/Aktionsart is studied in connection to joint angles and time. For the purposes of this research, data concerning the usage of a set of Modern Greek verbs were collected and annotated; in addition, motion data were captured for the same verbs. First, the distance between actions and verbs was calculated revealing a strong connection between certain types of language data, lower limb motion, and time: an extended use of the lower limbs is related to longer or repetitive actions while time expresses duration.","PeriodicalId":181387,"journal":{"name":"Int. Exciting possibilities of microelectronics for visual art are considered. Implementations of available microcontrollers, sensors and actuators are given. A new kind of interactions between spectators and artworks with embedded electronics was investigated. Special attention is paid to the effect of emergence, which is generated by this interaction. Computational artwork is being considered in a new unconventional context. An aesthetic difference between the deterministic and nondeterministic algorithms was shown. The combination of acrylic paintings with light-emitting diodes (LEDs) was systematically studied to give useful recommendations for an artistic community. Produced artifacts were demonstrated at exhibitions and were used to teach students at the university and VHS Freiburg, Germany. The results showed a great public interest in embedded electronic systems and a tremendous theoretical and practical perspective for the permanently developing contemporary art.","PeriodicalId":181387,"journal":{"name":"Int. Bharatanatyam is an Indian classical dance, which is composed of various body postures and hand gestures. This ancient art of dance has to be studied under guidance of dance teachers. In present days there is a scarcity of Bharatanatyam dance teachers. There is a need to adopt technology to popularize this dance form. This article presents a 3-stage methodology for the classification of Bharatanatyam mudras. In the first stage, acquired images of Bharatanatyam mudras are preprocessed to obtain contours of mudras using canny edge detector. In the second stage, Hu-moments are extracted as features. In the third stage, rule-based classifiers, artificial neural networks, and k-nearest neighbor classifiers are used for the classification of unknown mudras. The comparative study of classification accuracies of classifiers is provided at the end. The work finds application in e-learning of ‘Bharatanatyam' dance in particular and dances in general and automation of commentary during concerts.","PeriodicalId":181387,"journal":{"name":"Int. J.
