A voltage source can be applied to adjust the amplitude and duration of the pulse. This ultra-wideband pulse generator is fabricated with microstrip technology on FR4 printed circuit board. Our work shows that the pulse generator produces a monocycle pulse whose peak-to-peak amplitude ranges from 120 mV to 280 mV and duration from 780 ps to 600 ps respectively.","PeriodicalId":181361,"journal":{"name":"2008 European Radar Conference","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126838764","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The synthesizer utilizes injection-locking to obtain the fast lock time. The measurement results from a prototype design fabricated in 0.13-mum CMOS, shows good agreement with theoretical results. Minimum frequency hopping time at 3.3 GHz is 4 ns while the worst case is 10.02 ns. The injection-locked oscillator (ILO) system consumed 10 mA of current from a 1.2 V supply.","PeriodicalId":181361,"journal":{"name":"2008 European Radar Conference","volume":"79 3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116565071","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

INDRA is developed to meet the need for integrated surveillance along the Indonesian coastline, which is the worldpsilas second longest. The INDRA project is collaboration of a number of Indonesian organizations with technological support from the International Research Centre for Telecommunications and Radar (IRCTR), Delft University of Technology. INDRA is a solid-state FMCW radar and developed in 2 versions, i.e. a ship/marine radar and a coastal radar. The antenna system of INDRA employs microstrip-patch-array offset-fed reflector antennas which are here implemented for the first time in FMCW radar. The first field measurement of INDRA is scheduled to take place in July 2008.","PeriodicalId":181361,"journal":{"name":"2008 European Radar Conference","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116036999","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

MISAR is a highly miniaturised Ka-band FMCW SAR sensor for small UAVs with a payload allowance of less than 5 kg. With this sensor, the very first flight-test of a SAR system onboard a mini-UAV was conducted and high-quality imaging from such small platforms could successfully be demonstrated. Numerous flight tests followed and the experience obtained in these experiments lead to the development of the second-generation MISAR. The main improvements in the fields of image processing, MTI processing and ground segment MMI are described in this paper. Further, results of recent flight tests with the new sensor generation are presented.","PeriodicalId":181361,"journal":{"name":"2008 European Radar Conference","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128476482","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper we present a new versatile simulation environment for frequency-modulated continuous-wave radar systems. Besides common hardware simulation it covers integrated system simulation and concept analysis from signal synthesis to baseband. It includes a flexible scenario generator, accurate noise modeling, and efficiently delivers simulation data for development and testing of signal processing algorithms. A comparison of simulations and measurement results for an integrated 77-GHz radar prototype shows the capabilities of the simulator on two different scenarios.","PeriodicalId":181361,"journal":{"name":"2008 European Radar Conference","volume":"32 42","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132270977","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Nevertheless they require filtering at the receiver that can serve for sidelobe suppression in order to avoid target masking. However unmasking is not the only concern, it is crucial to evaluate the filtering scheme both in terms of sidelobe suppression capability but also in terms of output signal to noise ratio. This last criterion is essential when aiming at detecting also weaker reflections. In this paper the theoretical performance of the reiterated filtering technique based on LMMSE is derived and compared to the matched filter. The unmasking capabilities are relevant, but also output power figures. Moreover the performance of reiterated LMMSE is evaluated for OFDM communication-encoded radar waveforms.","PeriodicalId":181361,"journal":{"name":"2008 European Radar Conference","volume":"338 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115570655","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Maurer","doi":"10.1109/EUMC.2008.4751781","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.1109/EUMC.2008.4751781","url":null,"abstract":"Today automotive short range radar sensors are only available for the 24 GHz band. But in the EU the production of ultra-wideband sensors is limited to 2013 for the 24 GHz band, after 2013 the 79 GHz range must be used. This was the impact to develop a single-chip SiGe RF-transceiver for the 79 GHz-band on Infineon¿s B7HF200-Process with transition frequencies above 200 GHz. The power spectral density limit of -9 dBm/MHz for the 79 GHz-band is much higher than the -41.3 dBm/MHz limit for 24 GHz. Therefore the built prototype is a FMCW radar and no pulse radar in order to achieve a higher Signal-to-Noise Ratio. The required frequency ramp generation according to the FMCW-Principle is realized without a Phase Locked Loop(PLL), but by controlling digitally the tuning voltage of the VCO with help of a D/A-converter. The non-linearity of the VCO tuning law is compensated by measuring the frequency of the divider signal. Two bistatic transceiver variants have been realized: ATRX2 has one transmit and three receive channels, while ATRX3 has two switchable transmitters and two receivers. An RF-board has been designed for each chip, where low-cost patch antennas have been applied, optimized for a short range system. In the following the configuration for both chips is explained and measurement results are presented in order to demonstrate the angle detection capabilities.","PeriodicalId":181361,"journal":{"name":"2008 European Radar Conference","volume":"11 3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116440863","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
