The research included 21 French Alpine goats during winter feeding season. Goats were divided per 7 in the group according to stage of pregnancy (up to 3 months, from 3 to 4 months, and more than 4 months). Feeding of goats was with a mixture of grains and meadow hay. In the blood of goats concentrations acid-base indicators (blood pH, BE(efc), blood gas analysis: pCO2, pO2, tCO2 as well as electrolytes: Na+, K+, Cl- and bicarbonate) were determined. Afterwards, anion gap (AG), SID (strong ion differences) and z-values were estimated. Comparing determined acid-base indicators in the blood of Alpine goats during various stages of pregnancy significant differences were not evident. Acid-base indicators in blood of Alpine goats did not differ compared to reference values, except AG in blood of Alpine goat during 4 month) which can be associated with an increased load of animals because of intensive development of the foetus. Mentioned minor changes of acid-base indicators in the blood of Alpine goats showed a significant resistance on the occurrence metabolic disease.","PeriodicalId":18075,"journal":{"name":"Macedonian Journal of Animal Science","volume":"6 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"90527876","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It has been found that in the last ten years there is a continuous stagnation of poultry breeding, and the reasons for that are: generally very poor economic conditions, the very long period of transition and privatization, and the low living standard. Once a state with high-developed poultry production within the former Yugoslavia when it supplied 30% of the Yugoslav needs for eggs and exported live material (chicks one-day old and pullets), Macedonia today experiences a rapid fall in the production of eggs, while the production of poultry meat as if doesn’t exist at all. The needs of the population for chicken meat are satisfied in 94% through import of frozen meat from many countries in the world, which do not meet the required quality standards. A complete revitalization of poultry production is necessary through a series of measures outlined in the paper. Their implementation will contribute to overcoming all the objective and subjective difficulties because the Republic of Macedonia has the necessary resources for the development of poultry breeding which in the future would provide sufficient products for the domestic population, but also for export, especially of products from alternative systems of poultry farming.","PeriodicalId":18075,"journal":{"name":"Macedonian Journal of Animal Science","volume":"21 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"73244399","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It was determined that the average body weight of the goats of Balkan breed is about 44 kg, whereas the values of the other exterior measures were: height of withers 65.40 cm, height of back 63.67 cm, height of sacrum 65 cm, body length 65 cm, chest width 21.73 cm, chest depth 25.23 cm, size of chest 82.40 cm, rump width 19.92 cm, rump length 23.05 cm. The average lactation was 166 litres. Regarding the strength of the correlation, the general conclusion is that there is a relatively weak correlation (0.2 ≤ R < 0.5) between most of the exterior measures. An average strong correlation (0.5 ≤ R < 0.8) was determined between the height of the sacrum and the height of withers and the height of the back, between the length of the body and body weight, as well as between the chest size and the width and length of rump. A strong correlation (0.8 ≤ R < 1) was determined between the height of withers and height of the back, as well as between the chest size and body weight. With the analysis of the correlative dependence of the lactation with the other exterior measures, it was determined that the lactation is not in correlation with most of the exterior measures, but there is an insignificant correlation (0 < R < 0.2) with part of them (height of sacrum, chest size and length of rump).","PeriodicalId":18075,"journal":{"name":"Macedonian Journal of Animal Science","volume":"25 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"82079914","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The poultry in the experimental groups received 10 mg/kg body weight/day of the tested additive. The trial lasted 11 weeks (1 week of preparatory and 10 weeks of experimental period). It was found that VemoHerb-T in a daily dose of 10 mg·kg body weight causes a high degree of liver fat dystrophy in male and female poultry from both species. There were no significant differences in the liver histological structure between males and females from both species. Significant effect of the additive is observed on body weight in both male and female Guinea fowls, weight of liver in both male and female Japanese quails and liver’s histostructure of the two species – being higher in Japanese quails.","PeriodicalId":18075,"journal":{"name":"Macedonian Journal of Animal Science","volume":"33 12 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"72998193","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
