Investigation is conducted on one commercial farm in which production undergoing trough all technological phases, from piglets production on the beginning till the final product which is fattening pigs. Growth traits were investigated on 3093 piglets which were divided in seven facilities. In lactation period of 26 days, gained body weight was 7.36 kg. In growing period which lasted 58 days, crosses obtained from Duroc sires have achieved daily weight gain of 0.50 kg and average body mass of 29 kg. In fattening period which lasted 85 days, average daily gain was 0.83 kg with achieved body mass of 70.89 kg. At the end of fattening period, fatlings have achieved final body mass of 107.30 kg in period of 159 day in total, with 59.70% of meat in carcass. Total feed consumption per fatlings was 192 kg. Total losses in fattening period were 5% (2.8% mortality and 2.2% economic slaughters). This high level of productive performance, combined with the high meat percentage in carcass of fattening pigs, lids to a conclusion which explain the popularity of the Duroc breed as a sire line in many countries.","PeriodicalId":18075,"journal":{"name":"Macedonian Journal of Animal Science","volume":"17 13 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"89920269","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For biological research eight treatments with 1200 broiler chickens of hybrid line Hubbard in total were formed, in four replicates. Control treatment (T1) was fed with standard commercial mixtures based on corn meal and soybean meal. Experimental groups were fed with same commercial mixtures with addition of spice herbs as follows: garlic 0.5 (T2) and 1.0 g/100 g (T3), black pepper 0.5 (T4) and 1.0 g/100 g (T5), hot red pepper 0.5 (T6) and 1.0 g/100 g (T7) and mixture of garlic, black pepper and hot red pepper (1:1:1) in total of 0.5 g/100 g (T8). During the preparation period (first two weeks) chickens were fed with starter mixtures diets without addition of spice herbs. After this period, starter and grower diets were prepared according the plan till the end of experiment (42 days). At the end of experiment and on the basis of gained results it can be concluded that the chickens at experimental treatments T6 and T7 achieved statistically significant (p 0.05) between experimental treatments. In this experiment addition of garlic, black pepper and hot red pepper had significant influence on fat digestibility and utilization as well as better production results compared to a control treatment.","PeriodicalId":18075,"journal":{"name":"Macedonian Journal of Animal Science","volume":"7 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"78267369","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Plasma is not accumulated in end-used products. As the cold plasma is produced just before usage, there are no requirements either for storage or activation procedure. Cold plasma has an oxidation-reduction potential. In the bread baking industry it is used in dough systems to whiten the flour and subsequent bread crumb. Also to promote disulfide bond formation between glutenin proteins, that improves dough strength. Experiments have been realized to evaluate the influence of cold plasma treatment on the flour and bread-making quality without the use of any additives. Wheat flour was treated with cold plasma in counter flow exchange by using the device \"Plason\". Exposure: concentration of 1000 ppm at 2.5 L/minute. Time exposition: 45 minutes. Because gas dissociates quickly into molecular oxygen the assessment of wheat flour was made first just after treatment, and then five days later. As a result of cold plasma treatment, the treated flour has a brightly creamy color, unlike untreated flour. The content of wet gluten has gone down a little due to deterioration of its hydration capacity but gluten quality was increased. Improvements in dough structural and mechanical properties such as, increasing dough stability and dough strength, reduction of dough softening, all have been observed. The results obtained showed that cold plasma has an effect on bread structural and mechanical properties. The loaves baked just after treatment demonstrated expansion of the total and specific volume along with enhancement of their appearance and porosity structure.","PeriodicalId":18075,"journal":{"name":"Macedonian Journal of Animal Science","volume":"117 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"90535356","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A total of 100 ewes (crossbred of Akkaraman, Sakız, Border Leichester, Lincoln, Ile de France) at the Animal Science Research Center of the Ankara University were used. Estrus was synchronized with progestagen-impregnated vaginal sponges for 14–16 days in January. Following synchronisation of oestrus, 750 IU PMSG was injected per ewe. Ewes were artificially inseminated with frozen semen after 3–4 h intracervical administration 50–100 mg of PGE1 analogue (misoprostol) for each. Lambing, infertility and prolificacy rates were found as 44.87%, 55.12% and 91.02% in natural-mated group and 68.18%, 31.81% and 109.09% in the misoprostol group, respectively. Fertility rate was numerically increased in the misoprostol group compared to the control. Infertility rate was also numerically decreased in the treated group in comparison with the control ewes. The results indicated that acceptable fertilization and pregnancy rates could be obtained in estrous synchronized and transcervically inseminated ewes after misoprostol treatment.","PeriodicalId":18075,"journal":{"name":"Macedonian Journal of Animal Science","volume":"52 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"77683316","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To prevent introduction of infection to the farm or farms in the environment, we use primary and secondary Biosafety measures. The most effective implementation of biosecurity measures on farms provides a development plan for that farm biosecurity. We have developed the biosecurity plan based on detailed observation and analysis of the relevance of indicators and on biosecurity which includes: 1. Making and submitting a written plan for achieving and maintaining biosecurity on farm production based on keeping proper records; 2. Isolation of he farm as a whole or individual segments of manufacturing and production operations; 3. Introduction of newly acquired animals in a herd; 4. Health of the herd; 5. Evaluations of the personnel and the equipment; 6. Traffic and movement control; 7. Attitude towards visitors; 8. Control of food and water; 9. Manure; 10. Disposal of carcasses of dead animals; 11. Relationship to other animals on the farm; 12. Population control of rodents and birds; 13.
